I'm baaaaaaack!!!

where do I even begin? the last several months have been soooooooo hard. I guess I will do the Cliff's Notes version...

In early September I discovered my husband of almost 15 years has been cheating on me for the last 5 years. Within 2 days my untreated depression landed me in the hospital for the next 5 days. I am now on medication and seeing a psychologist. I'm feeling better, but every day is a new day and sometimes still a real struggle.

My "husband" and I are separated but still living in the same house...sigh! After alot of arguing with each other we are finally in agreement that this is the best decision for us right now. In the spring I plan to go to school to become a medical assistant. Then after this school year is over for our daughter, her and I will be moving into our own place. I'm excited and scared all at the same time!

Needless to say in all this mess I fell off the get healthy, exercise and lose weight wagon. I'm doing my best to get back on track, but it's a challenge. HA! challenge? that's an understatement! I'm ready to get this part of my life back in order. Surprisingly I have only put on 10 lbs of what I lost so I am still down about 50 lbs.

So...here's to finding me! emoticon

    Well, first off, welcome back!!! Glad to see you are doing this for yourself, I know it will help you! I am so sorry to hear what you have had to go through these past few months! That is such a hard thing to deal with. My husband cheated on me when we were together for 9 years. My depression actually led me back to him, seems stupid but I wanted it to work. I think it is unhealthy though, cause I don't think I will ever fully trust him anymore or love him the way I used to. I am so proud of you for being strong through all of this!!!! You definitely need to find your own place, that will help alot! I will be keeping you in my prayers! Just focus on you and getting healthy again! Way to go on keeping almost all your weight off, that is awesome too! emoticon

I know it's been a while since ya'll saw me around here...life just got a little...ALOT...crazy, and I was having a really hard time with my depression. I don't want to go into it all, just know that I am doing well and will continue to do so. emoticon

I am thinking about going to school...well, I know I'm going to. I just don't know what for yet. LOL I want to go for something specific that will take about a year or year and a half. No regular college courses as I know I won't be able to pass the math. I admit...numbers and I do not agree with each other! LOL So if anyone out there has any suggestions for what I could be when I grow up, I'm all ears! emoticon

I haven't been using my treadmill because of shin splints...when i walk at a faster pace they really kick in! And if you have never had shin splints...let me tell you...THEY FREAKIN HURT!!

Anyway after reading KIYOSHI04's blog about how she goes slow on the treadmill just has the incline way up, I figured I would give it a shot. =)

I got on and started out at 5% going just 1.5 mph, I increased the pace but never got up to 2 mph. But I got the incline up as high as my treadmill would go...10%. I did 10 minutes, my heart rate was up and I even got sweaty. I slowed down and decreased the incline for a minute or so to cool off.

I could feel the shin splints creeping in, but they weren't horrible. YAY!

So, here's my issue...I have searched and searched...but the closest SparkPeople has in the fitness tracker is "treadmill - 10% incline 30 min/mile" well...what about those of us that can't do that? how are we supposed to track "treadmill - 10% incline 40m min/mile"?

hey, it may have only been 10 minutes...but I did it! and I want to track it! but so far I can't figure out how. I even looked around online for a calories calculator thing so i could manually enter the calories burned...but I couldn't find anything that is even close to 10% incline at 1.5 mph.

    wow!! im flattered! i had no idea you read my blog on occasion!
i always just put in walking if it is something i dont know.
but, a heart rate monitor or a body bugg-thing [expensive, holy smokes, i know] would tell the calories.
ive never had shin splints but i imagine they hurt like the dickens.
i just hate walking fast. it is.....i dont like to be out of breath. and im 5'3... [okay, 5'2 without shoes.] so my legs arent long and it just feels like too much work! id just rather go slow and get my heart rate up another way.

you are doing so well!!

    on the pedometer and heart rate thing, you input your details (such as height, weight, age etc) so its probs way more accurate than the machines etc, and is personalised just to you :o) It's a good investment! I always have to remember to update mine though when I lose weight, as it obvs changes the calculated calroies.

Good suggestions from the other guys too though, hope you find something that works for you!

    I bought a pedometer and used it for the first time this morning when I went to walk with mom and it told me the calories I burned, so maybe you could try something like that....Good Luck :D

    I hope you get to find something...

Until you find something, perhaps just put "walking" in the tracker. I often fudge my true exercise to make it work for the tracker as at the moment I'm just concentrating on minutes rather than intensity. When I walk from the bus stop to day care I don't know how long it is in distance so I just set it at a walk for 10 minutes at a slow pace even though I do "power walk" it and get quite warm.

    I had thought about a heart rate monitor, but didn't know they told you how many calories you burn. figured if they did it would be like on the treadmill or my stationary bike...telling you the calories burned for a 150 lb woman...I'm well over that...LOL

I don't drink that much...hardly ever actually...but the other day I was really wanting a glass of wine, so I stopped by the liquor store to pick up a bottle of my usual Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot (yeah, I know...nothing fancy...LOL) as I walked up to the rack another bottle caught my eye...Velvet Red...hmmm...so I read the back..."Tastes and smells like ripe, just picked Concord grapes." Now I'm really intrigued as I like a sweet wine. So I take the bottle to the counter and they inform me that all of this winery's wines are very good. *fingers crossed* It's best served cold...another plus cuz I like my wine cold...so I put it in the fridge.

Last night a pour a glass and I was so surprised! this wine is super yummy! I had 2 glasses and went to bed at 10:30! and I slept like a baby all night! I usually go to be after 11pm and it takes me a while to fall asleep...I even wake up a couple times each night to pee. Not last night...I fell right to sleep and I only got up to pee once...LOL

I might just have to budget a glass or 2 of wine into my calories each day...especially if I am going to sleep so well after =)

Spinach Tuna Casserole..this is SUPER YUMMY!!!

took this after we ate =)

5 cups uncooked egg noodles (I used no yolk noodles)
1 cup (8 oz) reduced fat sour cream
1/2 cup fat-free mayo (I used mayo with olive oil, reduced fat)
2-3 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp butter (I used 3 tbsp I Can't Believe it's Not Butter)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups fat-free milk (I used 3 cups)
1/3 cup plus 2 tbsp shredded parmesan, divided (I used a little more)
1 pkg (9 oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed
1 pkg (6 oz) reduced sodium chicken stuffing mix
1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 pouches (6.4 oz each) light tuna, in water

preheat oven to 350...gather all ingredients

cook noodles according to pkg directions...in a small bowl combine sour cream, mayo and lemon juice, set aside

in large pot melt butter...stir in flour until blended...gradually stir in milk...bring to a boil and cook for 2 min or until thickened...remove from heat...stir in 1/3 cup parmesan until melted...stir in sour cream mixture then add spinach, stuffing, bread crumbs and tuna...mix well

drain noodles...spray 13x9" pan with cooking spray...place noodles in pan, then tuna mixture on top of noodles*...sprinkle with remaining parmesan
*the noodles got a little crusty, so next time I make this I am going to fold the noodles into the tuna mixture

cover and bake for 35 minutes...uncover and bake an additional 5-10 minutes or until lightly browned

nutrition info: 1 serv equals 346 calories, 9 grams fat (5 grams sat fat), 50 mg cholesterol, 734 mg sodium, 41 grams carbohydrate, 2 grams fiber, 24 grams protein
