Finding Balance

Balance is something I've always struggled with. I will go 100% in the direction of a new idea or project leaving other things in my wake. It's kind of a "all or nothing" view of the world. I've applied this to my weight loss efforts in the past. Extreme diets, extreme exercise or nothing. And it has resulted in extreme ups and downs in my weight loss.

I have lost over 100 pounds twice in my life. And gained it back both times. The first time I relied on diet pills and the second was the HCG diet. Both times I gained back my weight.

My focus now is finding balance. Yesterday I noted that I had done so without over analyzing my day and becoming anxious about controlling it. Knowing that I would be attending High Tea, with friends visiting from China, which is loaded with fats and carbs, I added an extra walk into my morning routine and cut back a few calories on my lunch and snacks.

I made it through the day having stayed within 100 calories of my goal and burning 200 extra calories.

Yes, I'm beginning to find balance.

    Yes you definitely are finding that balance! Just remember that this time you are making a lifestyle change....not relying on some quick fix. You will be able to keep the weight off this time for good! I have total faith in you! Way to go! emoticon

Feeling the Shift

I'd done it. I let it slide. You know what I mean. Shortening my daily walks because "I don't feel like it." Eating the chips while watching tv at night because "I like them." Finding excuses.

Of course, I started feeling crummy. I was lethargic and my blood sugars were spiraling out of control. I'd gained back 10 pounds that I had worked so hard to lose.

But, I'm back on track. Increased daily activity (aka exercise), increased veggies and fruits, tracking my food intake and drinking lots of water.

And it's working! I've already shed 3 of the pounds that I had gained and am looking forward to stepping on the scale next week because I'm feeling the shift to a healthier life.
