I'm training to run a 5K in May. I am a little confused about what all I am supposed to do this week, but I at least know I am getting in the mileage I need to. I don't want to run outside because of the ice... I tend to fall a lot (heaven help me when I get old!). Also, I am new to running, so I am focused on walking. I sometimes walk to work or other places and am counting that, plus I am doing Leslie Sansone walking videos. Using her videos helps me walk at a much faster pace than I would alone. I just finished a three mile video! I'm so happy with that!
I'm also doing a Biggest Loser contest at work. My first two weeks were great, but when we weighed in on Wednesday, I was only down a pound. I am convinced it is because my husband and I ate out more that week. We ate out again today and the only "produce" I've had all day is about four ounces of 100% fruit juice! At least I barely ate any of the fries when we went out. I'm going to have supper soon and plan to include lots of fruits and veggies!
And finally, I finished chapter two of "The Spark" in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. (Insomnia STINKS!) It was fantastic!!! It's about focus. Having goals and purpose in our lives. It really struck a chord with me. He says we are going to delve deeper into the topic later in the book. I am looking forward to that. I think I am going to read the whole book through once, then go back and read it again more slowly and use all the extra goodies they offer on the bonus book site. Chris Downie and SparkPeople ROCK! I thank God I found this site because it's making a difference in my life already. I can't wait to see who I become by this time next year!

I have been doing well losing weight these past few weeks. We are doing a Biggest Loser contest at work. This is the third week in a row I have lost. I was down one pound this week. After the last couple weeks of great weight loss, it was a little disappointing. I am sincerely glad that I did not gain and realize that is a nice healthy amount to lose in a week. I was starting to get used to those higher numbers though! I'm worried though because I haven't really been following any particular plan. I occasionally use the nutrition tracker but can't stick to it because I HATE IT. I am glad for SparkPeople.com and The Spark, which I just got this week, because I know that if I faithfully follow what I learn, I will continue to lose weight and get healthier. I am not sure why I'm so afraid my "losing streak" will end, but I know I just have to tell myself that as long as I am doing the right things, the results will take care of themselves soon enough.

Back when I wasn't already eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, the Special K Challenge worked for me for a short time. Now since we have been eating lots of fruits and veggies at work--and at home now too!--I have already been eating less. I started the Special K Challenge earlier this week and found myself hungry and craving sweets. I have decided to go back to focusing on enjoying lots of produce and then eating sensible meals. I even use the nutrition tracker now and then. I hate using it, but it is interesting what I learn.

I was supposed to start the Special K Challenge yesterday, but didn't quite hit the mark. I am trying again today. I had the Red Berries cereal for breakfast. Once I got to work, I enjoyed some wonderfully delicious fruit. Then I added a Special K Protein Shake to coffee. I've done this before, using the shake instead of cream and sugar. Today, however, it is not setting well with me at all. I don't know, maybe it's because I haven't had coffee in a while. Maybe it's because I've been eating foods that are less processed. I'm not sure what it is, but I do know that I plan to try the shake WITHOUT the coffee tomorrow!
