Update, 2 months in...

Wow, it's been 2 months now. I've lost 10 lbs, gained 2 lbs back over the holidays so I go into the next month at 8 lbs lost. I'm sure it will be kicked up a notch now that I'm doing the 6 week challenge at the gym. I have yet to do my measurements. I will try to do those today but I don't expect to see any changes give the last few weeks of poor choices and no exercise.

I had my assessment yesterday. Went well, I like the gym, the people there are all friendly. During the time I want to be going I was told by an older lady that it is pretty much just 2 or 3 of them. Before I left, I weighed myself. My scale said 241.8, their scale says 242. My trainer says my scale is pretty accurate but either way not to worry to much about it. I did poorly on the fit test and I know it. She can tell me I did great but I know better. I know what I need to work towards! I go to the gym tomorrow for my first training session. I'm actually looking forward to it!

Watched BL last night! I was sad to see James leave so soon but he did so well at home and it was great that his wife lost some weight with him. I knew he was the right choice to send home. He needed a start, which he got that first week. I think he just needed to have someone show/tell him what exercises he could do instead of telling him what he couldn't do. And the weight loss helped to reinforce that he can do it by what he was doing. It was sad to watch the two "couples" leave. It will be interesting to see how they do after the 30 days.
I challenged myself to stay on the treadmill for the entire 2 hours! I did it!! I was doing a brisk/power walk during the show sections and for some of the commercials I dropped the speed by 1mph. Totaling 5.2 miles walked! The goal now is to better that distance every week while I watch the show. Bonus was I also drank 3 more cups of water so I got 750ml of water in. I am paying for it this morning. I am sore. But I will go downstairs and do some yoga and afterwards I'll see if I feel up to Turbo Jamming.

Time to get the day moving forward.

    Congrats on 2 months in! You are doing great! Way to go on treadmilling the entire show! That is awesome! Keep that up and you are going to see great results! emoticon

    Love the idea of exercising during BL. Wish I had a treadmill. I have a recumbent bike but it KILLS my knee. Great job!!!

Challenging Myself

I did it. I can't believe I did it. Thanks to the final push from the hubby, I did it. I joined the gym I have been contemplating for their 6 Week Weight Loss Challenge. I was coming up with the do it tomorrow excuse and hubby wouldn't let me away with it. He knows me to well. He knew I was chickening out. I have to work on not being so self-conscious. I still can't believe I did it and how upbeat/positive I was walking in the door. I walked in with a smile on my face, heart racing. The ladies behind the counter welcomed me and before they could ask why I was there, I told them with all the excitement I could muster that I wanted in on the challenge. Nerves made that so hard to do..lol. But they were excited for me and so far first impressions are good. I'll know more about how it will be/feel tomorrow after my assessment with my personal trainer Jane. She's very nice and was interested in what I have been doing. Right now she comes across as someone I would make friends with. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I figure I'll dress for the gym and take a change of clothes with me seeing as I'm booked for 8:30 in the morning. Hopefully the weather will co-operate as we are getting snow and blowing snow right now. So along with doing this in-person challenge, I am also participating in a Biggest Loser one here on Sparkpeople. The next 6 weeks will be interesting and I know challenging! Hubby is feeling a little snubbed. He feels he should be all the support I need and I have the equipment at home to do this on my own. I tried explaining it to him. That he is supportive and I appreciate it and love him all the more for it but that I also need to have someone that can push me, help me step up when I need to, and at the same time I'll still be working out at home. He says he understands, I hope so.

My foot is better today. Still really red and nasty looking but I can get my shoe on and am able to move around without much pain. It hurt to much to put my shoe on yesterday, not alone do it up so I tried the yoga on the BL game, but the kids kept interrupting (it was a bug mom day) so I only got 13 minutes done of the 30 I wanted.

I will post tomorrow how the assessment goes!

    Woohoo! You are going to do great! I have been considering the gym again but so far I am pretty happy with the equipment I have so I am still on the fence.

When Things Go Well...

Why is it when things are going well something has to happen to put a monkey wrench in them???

Yesterday started off great. I went downstairs and with the help of my DS we packed up and moved all the soaps and racks out of the room for my older DS and then set them up again. But before doing that, I decided I needed to sweep and vacuum the area first. Mistake. Well the mistake was I forgot to put on my dust mask. Or was the mistake doing it myself and not having the kids do it...hummm LOL. Hubby and I finished framing in the wall - again no dust mask. I didn't get any workouts done, I felt like I had done a workout with the framing. Or was it more the fact that I was struggling with my breathing. All the dust kicked my asthma into full gear and even this morning I'm still not 100%. Today is putting in the insulation and vapour barrier up. Also need to workout on the treadmill - if I can get my shoe on. Oh, I didn't tell you that part...
Our cat is the cat from h%ll and he does things for a reason, course most times only he knows the reason. Long story short, the cat got in trouble (went to eat/play in the birthday cake), hubby went to pick him and put him downstairs to keep him out of the way, well cat decided to go on his own. But not before causing more trouble. He jumped down and came over and stepped on my bare foot with one of his back feet. He looked back over his shoulder at the hubby with a dirty look, almost a "you aren't getting anything tonight for your birthday" look, dug his nails into my foot and took off for downstairs. He did it all so fast, I didn't get a chance to pull my foot away. I now have a very long, pretty deep scratch on my foot. It is half way up my foot and the main scratch runs right to the joint on my big toe. Hubby feels so bad about it, but it's no one's fault, stuff happens especially with this cat. It hurt like heck last night, not so bad this morning but still pretty sore, and really hurt to put my skidoo boots on when I took the dogs outside this morning. I'm hoping I will be able to get my shoes on today so I can workout. I need to workout to help get my lungs cleared out from yesterday. If not, I'll give the yoga section on the Biggest Loser Wii game a try.

New Year Start

Started the year off with fun! We stayed up till 1am to welcome in the New Year.
Then got up yesterday morning, got hubby off to work and went downstairs to Turbo Jam. I did the 20-minute disc. It was so nice to workout in the morning! The oldest stayed at a friend's house for NYE. Then I watched the sculpt and cardio party ones so I can do those today. I was going to do the sculpt one yesterday but I got playing the Wii with the kids.
Last night was the last "fancy" meal till Easter. I made a ham, still have lots left so I'll cut it up and use a little in omelets this week and the kids will eat the rest as snacks.

Today is hubby's birthday...the big 39. And in his true yearly style he's moody but I have promised myself not be dragged in and down by it. We are going to finish cleaning up the room downstairs today so the oldest can move back in to it. Also warned the oldest he may want to get ear plugs as I have no intentions of keeping my workouts quiet. I don't blast it, but it's not exactly quiet either. I love the music and energy I get with the TJ workouts. I find them fun and I have yet to get bored with them.

I was looking at the website for the gym I am going to be going to, checking to see if they upped their prices for the new year (nope!). They are running a weight loss challenge for a month starting next week. I'm going to stop by today and get more information on it. I think it would be fun and a great motivator to start the new year with.

Well, time to finish my coffee, grab a tea and start studying before I start the day...

    I have been a member of Curves and loved it! Also lost weight with them! Now I am no longer a member but working out with my Wii games.

I can't wait to see if the wii can work well for me.

I did it. I've been flipping back and forth on what to do first - lose the weight, get healthy, get my physical activity up and then take the courses and get my certifications. But doesn't that sound more like a putting off thing. What is the difference between now and then?? Nothing. It's an excuse. And I'm done with excuses.
I sat last night looking at my "Plan of Action" and decided why wait. I need to learn the things within the course either way some of which I already know, some I've just learned (thanks to SP and their great articles) and things I still need to learn. So why wait, start 2010 off right. So I enrolled in my fitness and nutrition correspondence course. This course will give me the knowledge I feel I lack as well as the confidence to move ahead with my certifications.

I ordered the armband for my iphone, finally! I can't wait for it to get here.

I've been slowly de-cluttering the house. Have a ways to go but it looks a lot more positive and open in some areas.
I decided that today I will tackle the pantry with the help of the kids. With them helping it will re-enforce my willpower to not keep the bad stuff I know is up there. Tomorrow being grocery day we can stock up on some good staples I should have in the house. I just need to source out some good cupboard snacks to have for those times when we get the munchies.

    Where are you taking the classes at? I think that sounds so exciting and is the direction I am headed in also. I just don't know where to start.
