May In Review and Catch Up

Monday, June 13, 2011

I had hoped things would slow down but it has yet to happen. This past week has been the worst. School trip, markets, soccer, hubby gone for 3 days on another school trip, meetings and finished off with a breakfast with friends and my volunteer time with Relay For Life. I haven't been doing a To Do List, tracking or anything and it's been showing. I'm not gaining but I'm not really loosing either. I haven't been purposely exercising - it has been part of something I've been doing like spending a day at the local marsh outdoor center with my daughter's class doing orienteering and patrolling for the survival game (ensuring all kids are in the marked off area and helping anyone that may get injured). That day not only did I walk miles, I ran just under 2km! We had to keep an eye on all 5 groups of kids to make sure they weren't having problems with the GPS units or getting off the main trails and getting lost in the 300 acres that makes up the center so it was alot of movement. When money isn't so tight, I will be joining the center as a member so I can go whenever I want to walk, run or bike the trails. It's a nice, quiet, nature filled place to go and get re-energized.

I have to get back on track. I feel crappy and the days are blending together again. Time to refocus and get back to being clear headed and get that get it done attitude back - not this do it later one. As you can guess, May goals went out the window. So instead of making goals and feeling horrible for not being successful, I'm going to focus on the day to day. I need to really make time to get back on SP and post. I have been reading, but it's usually to catch up on the week and then I don't have time to post replies or blog. I need to make time. My "To-Do List" will have this added in every day.

This week is slower. I have soap to make, a couple of Sunset Gourmet taste-testing parties scheduled and beautiful weather is scheduled for this week. So the plan is to get out and enjoy the nice weather.

Time to get pro-active rather than being re-active! I know I will feel better and get more done.

The Weekend In Review & Goal Update

Monday, May 02, 2011

Wow another month gone. April took with it....3 lbs. Not great but considering things I was/was not doing it's to be expected.

Friday evening DD and I went for a 4.86km walk. It was a push to finish and DD was struggling more than me but she kept trying and didn't complain. Once we got home and she recouped she said she wants to do it again.
One of our neighbours/sort of friend (my kids have always done summer work for her) has some work she needs done and I offered. Stepping back and looking at it, this may be the dumbest thing I have agreed to do. I started on Saturday with the housekeeping crew doing spring cleanings on cottages. Saturday was also DD birthday party sleepover. I worked 7 hours - washing walls, moving furniture, washing windows, etc., When I finished work I did the final food/munchie run for the party and came home. I swear I didn't sit 10 minutes and I could barely move. The pain was almost unbearable even with pain meds and rubs. I managed to get through the evening with the girls - except for cutting my hand on a piece of glass while we were making lip gloss and perfumes. Sunday morning, hubby went out so DS helped me get breakfast on the table. If he hadn't helped I swear the girls would still be waiting..lol. I was still not able to do anything around the house yesterday due to the pain shooting through my arms and shoulders. Today, I'm still sore but this is a sore I can work through. Time to get my house back in order from the weekend.

So now for last week's goals:

1. Exercise for at least 30 minutes, even if it's just a walk around the block.
**Didn't get out as much as planned. Have to work more at making it a priority.

2. When making meals, make extra and put in the freezer.
**Didn't have any foods to do this with this week.

3. Stay away from chips and such.
**Let's just say Failed on this one.

4. Eat more fruit/veg every day.
*Did much better this week.

5. Drink more water. I am still struggling to get through the 8 glasses of water a day.
*Some days were better than others, but it's getting there.

6. Start the day by looking in the mirror and telling myself something positive about myself.
*Every day!

7. Write a To-Do list every day to track what I accomplish and keep me on track.
*Done! Even did things not on the list and added them. Also found the list made me stay on track to get things done which freed up time during the day. Spent that time making boiled eggs, banana bread and such for the family.

I will post more on my goals for May later today, this blog has been long enough. It's on today's to-do list to set those goals!

Keep up the good work. Remember to take baby steps and that 3 pounds lost is not 3 pounds gained!

Weekend Over, Getting Back On Track

Monday, April 25, 2011

After an over indulging weekend it's time to get back on track and get moving. I've been good at staying away from the chocolate. Hubby said he's upset cause he couldn't think of anything to get me. I said it's okay, I'll stop at the gardening store and get a plant or two before I come home from my sister's today.

My Goal Progress from last week:

1. Exercise for at least 30 minutes, even if it's just a walk around the block.
*** Slacked at the end of the week. To much on my mind and away from home but this week will be better.

2. When making meals, make extra and put in the freezer.
*** Did this, then the kids took it for lunches! LOL Will just have to try again.

3. Stay away from chips and such. I do have a chocolate rabbit in the freezer in small pieces and am allowing myself one or two pieces a day. But the chips thing is still a mindless activity when I allow myself some.
***Allowed the kids to help with that rabbit so I got very little of it. Had two helpings (per the bag) of chips over the weekend. It was hard while visiting everyone and that's what they put out.

4. Eat more fruit/veg every day.
*** I've been doing this!

5. Drink more water. I am still struggling to get through the 8 glasses of water a day.
***Still struggling but getting there.

6. Start the day by looking in the mirror and telling myself something positive about myself. ***Did this! Made me noticed I'm not as big as I was. I think it has to do with cutting out the pop. It's been 3 weeks since I had any coke, I've had a little gingerale here and there. And I've noticed that I'm not bloated looking anymore. Yes, I'm still big, but I don't see overly big anymore. When I mentioned it to hubby he said that a friend we had gone to visit had commented that I looked like I had lost weight. So it is a noticeable difference cause I've only lost 3 lbs in three weeks so it wasn't a drastic drop in weight.

7. Write a To-Do list every day to track what I accomplish and keep me on track.
***Didn't do this. Need to really work on this one.

The goals this week remain the same. I need to master these before I change/add to them.

It's great that you came back to your goals, and then reassessed them all. What great dedication you have, and each week will get better!

Your successes, no matter what little bumps you hit, are greater than you know!

It's Been A Busy Time

Monday, April 18, 2011

Things have been busy since soccer started. If I'm not at school for practices, my son and I are out in the yard practicing.

The nettle infusions are going down well. I found adding ginger slivers to it helps cut the earthy/grassy taste making it easier to drink. I tried red clover infusion. That was hard to get down. I'm going to try blending the two together and see what that tastes like.

I bought new shoes on Friday. I picked up another pair of my favourite running shoes as well as a pair of easy toners. I had heard good and bad about them but thought what the heck their something different (and they were on sale). There are instructions on how to use them - break them in - don't wear all day right away if on your feet the entire time (I always have my old shoes handy to switch into, just the way I was taught to deal with any new shoes), general walking only, they are NOT for working out, running or even power walking in. That's fine by me, they are my new house shoes. I wear runners in the house all day, I find I move more when I have shoes on. Caution going down stairs in the toners - you have to make sure you are balanced and stable going down them. They do help correct my posture. I have a habit of slouching, these things make me stand up straight (otherwise there is a chance of tipping over lol). As for the workout side (I don't fully believe the claims), the first day I did notice my thighs and calves were tender, but with the correcting of my posture I think that has more to do with it. But hey if they help to actually tone, great bonus. But the main reason I bought them - comfort. These things are comfy, so they are a good choice for me for around the house and while I'm in the soap room.

I have had a hard time tracking my food for the last few days. I know I've been over, not by much but the food choices have not been the best. With the new freezer I got from the FIL, I will be stocking it with better choices. I go through days where I want to cook, then I have many days in a row where I don't want to. If I make a few meals up in advance that I can just thaw or cook right away instead of having to make it that day I think it will help stay on track rather than eating out.

Friday we are going to see the FIL. His girlfriend is up visiting and he wants us to meet her.

Other wise, not much is new. The oldest met us for coffee, it was his birthday so I really wanted to see him. He pushed a few buttons with his dad (I didn't let him get to me), who held his tongue but is reaching the same point I am. We love him, it's good to see him, see/know he's okay, but he is toxic to our family, not to mention our emotions so there has to be some distance there till his attitude changes.

Goals for this week:

1. Exercise for at least 30 minutes, even if it's just a walk around the block.

2. When making meals, make extra and put in the freezer.

3. Stay away from chips and such. I do have a chocolate rabbit in the freezer in small pieces and am allowing myself one or two pieces a day. But the chips thing is still a mindless activity when I allow myself some.

4. Eat more fruit/veg every day.

5. Drink more water. I am still struggling to get through the 8 glasses of water a day.

6. Start the day by looking in the mirror and telling myself something positive about myself.

7. Write a To-Do list every day to track what I accomplish and keep me on track.

Have a good week everyone!

I too struggle with eight glasses of water a day. I alternate between Crystal Lite and water. I find myself less bored and drinking MORE water. I can get up to ten glasses a day this way.

Be proud of your goals, you're doing really well with keeping them simple for now.
