We've all heard the saying "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present!"
I'm so glad yesterday is history! There are at least a dozen people that were in the grocery store with me yesterday who will probably think of me as a crazy lady if they ever see me again. I was just doing a little shopping and went to the candy aisle to get some Extra gum while it was still on sale and there it was! Sitting next to the gum, clearance priced at $1.00!, Hershey's Nuggets with caramel pecan truffle filling!!!!!!!!!!!! I picked up the bag longingly, knowing in the back of my mind that if I even opened the bag it would all be gone in a matter of seconds, and as I was putting it in my cart, I saw it! 1 serving, 4 little pieces, 270 calories!! The contents of that bag was almost the equivalent of a pound! So it went back on the shelf.
Being almost finished with my shopping I thought I would go to the frozen food section and see if Edy's frozen fruit bars were on sale. They weren't, BUT sitting right next to them, clearance priced at only $2.00, was an entire Key Lime frozen cheesecake!! $2.00!!!!!!!!!!! I guess at that point I let out a strangled moan and in a not too soft voice cried "Get thee behind me, Satan!" And it was at that point I noticed there were several fellow shoppers looking at me with concern (for their safety) on their faces. But there was one kind but exceedingly plump woman who asked me if I was okay. So I told her that I was making a concerted effort to live a healthy life style but seemed to be having temptation thrown into my face at every corner in the grocery store and the last straw was an entire Key lime cheesecake for$2.00! To which she quickly replied "Where?", and as her chubby little hands were reaching for it, I proceeded to tell her about sparkpeople.com and all the good results I have had with it. She walked away, but as I was standing in the checkout line, I turned around just in time to see her taking the cheesecake out of the freezer. Ok, so I may not have won a convert, but I succeeded!!!!!!!!!
So, yes, I am glad yesterday is history, and I am so thankful for the gift that is today!
