Okay, I know, I know. I haven't been seen much lately, but I have been here! Just staying like a ghost in the background! I'm not going to get into all the whys and wherefores, just but I am here now, and ready for action, or to take my punishment, whatever the case may be!

Gone for 2 weeks

Saturday, March 29, 2008

I'm leaving this morning for 2 weeks to go to my Mom's. She is moving in with my sister so I am going to help close out her house. No computer so no way of staying plugged in to Spark, but have no fear! I will be staying the course! So until I return, eat healthy, exercise, and be happy!

Have a wonderful time with your Mom and sister. This is great that you get to be with them during a life transition. If there is a local library near by and you need a Spark fix that would be a good source. Take care. Deanie

Yesterday is History

Sunday, March 16, 2008

We've all heard the saying "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present!"
I'm so glad yesterday is history! There are at least a dozen people that were in the grocery store with me yesterday who will probably think of me as a crazy lady if they ever see me again. I was just doing a little shopping and went to the candy aisle to get some Extra gum while it was still on sale and there it was! Sitting next to the gum, clearance priced at $1.00!, Hershey's Nuggets with caramel pecan truffle filling!!!!!!!!!!!! I picked up the bag longingly, knowing in the back of my mind that if I even opened the bag it would all be gone in a matter of seconds, and as I was putting it in my cart, I saw it! 1 serving, 4 little pieces, 270 calories!! The contents of that bag was almost the equivalent of a pound! So it went back on the shelf.
Being almost finished with my shopping I thought I would go to the frozen food section and see if Edy's frozen fruit bars were on sale. They weren't, BUT sitting right next to them, clearance priced at only $2.00, was an entire Key Lime frozen cheesecake!! $2.00!!!!!!!!!!! I guess at that point I let out a strangled moan and in a not too soft voice cried "Get thee behind me, Satan!" And it was at that point I noticed there were several fellow shoppers looking at me with concern (for their safety) on their faces. But there was one kind but exceedingly plump woman who asked me if I was okay. So I told her that I was making a concerted effort to live a healthy life style but seemed to be having temptation thrown into my face at every corner in the grocery store and the last straw was an entire Key lime cheesecake for$2.00! To which she quickly replied "Where?", and as her chubby little hands were reaching for it, I proceeded to tell her about sparkpeople.com and all the good results I have had with it. She walked away, but as I was standing in the checkout line, I turned around just in time to see her taking the cheesecake out of the freezer. Ok, so I may not have won a convert, but I succeeded!!!!!!!!!
So, yes, I am glad yesterday is history, and I am so thankful for the gift that is today!

Hurray for you! That's what it's all about. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. I think I spent 20 minues in the gourmet/health food store just reading labels on flat breads trying to find one that was low enough to spread some Laughing Cow light cheese on and think I was having a cocktail party! I have to fight the jelly bean battle this week. I wish I could just get about 10 - maybe Brach's sells them in bulk.
