One year and maintaining!

Saturday, December 10, 2011

It has been a year since I reached my goal weight. Happily I have maintained that weight. Since the start of my journey until now I feel fantastic about my accomplishment. Gone are my fat clothes. Hello to cute things in a size I never thought I would wear again.

Has it been easy? No, but nothing worthwhile ever is. Yes I have jumped up a little bit after a vacation (10lbs) but I was able to drop those pounds again.

Now I have the tools on keeping the weight off such as tracking what I eat daily and limiting my carbs and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I still have wine or a martini but not on a daily basis. Plus I limit the quantity when I do drink.

Looking forward to the Holidays and feeling great while enjoying the Season!

But I can still breathe....

Monday, July 11, 2011

While my perspectives on many levels including life and faith and family and friends has changed I find my self perception has not. It still amazes me to try on a size 8 and have it fit or feel a little loose. Or to find that a favorite piece of clothing does not look. Sometimes it looks like I am a little kid playing dress up. So why do I only see the fat self in the mirror? Maybe because I am still working out those changes.

Michael (my oldest nephew and is only 6 years younger than me) made me laugh at myself I realize how silly I am being. One day he was complaining about life and his job and lack of love and a host of other things. My retort was at least you can breath. I will never have tooth pick skinny legs due to years of dance and family genetics but I can still breathe. My stomach will never be flat due to a large scar but I can still breathe.

My mantra is But I can still breathe. Things will never be perfect but my attitude will shape my perspective and even perception. So breathe.

Look in the mirror and say to yourself hundreds of time during the day. I approve of myself. Say it in the shower. in the kitchen anywhere. Do some pirouhettes in front of the mirror and say I look good. You have worked hard for this and now reaps the rewards.

Yes you can breathe and yes you have the right to look fantastic. Years of negatives do not disappear in amoment but you are such a positive determined and committed person that you will overcome this hurdle. You inspire me that is for sure.

Time for a new perspective

Sunday, May 01, 2011

The other day I grabbed my skinny jeans from the closet. Usually I avoid them as they always feel snug and I feel fat in them. Looking at the butt area, I thought there is no way that I am going to fit into these today. Happily I realized they did fit and were a little loose. Putting on my new jacket before leaving for work, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. For once, I saw what others have been seeing - a newer and skinnier me.

Until then, I still saw the heavier me in the mirror. Don't get me wrong, I did see some of the progress. Yet it felt like I was on treadmill and not getting anywhere.

True - I have been feeling healthier. True I seem to stand a little taller. True I continue to keep making smart choices when eating. So now is the time to start writing new goals which is a little scary but exciting all at the same time.

I think you have captured the idea that we should all adopt! That is - accept the accomplishments and progress that we have made, and look at the positive aspects of how we are now! WTG on such a wonderful transformation!

How wonderful for you! If we could only see ourselves through other people's eyes ALL the time. We tend to like to make ourselves miserable though, don't we?

Celebrate your accomplishments and strut your stuff! emoticon

    You look gorgeous lady!

I have watched this transformation over this past year and it has been amazing. You should be so proud of yourself as I know this was a lot of work and commitment. And you stuck to it, no matter what you had going on. You amaze me.

On the flip side, I ate all you couldn't. Now it must be my turn.

Thanks for your incentive!

Fabulous darling...........simply fabulous!

How neat is that! I love your new perspective about yourself. Now, you have give me the sense to look at the postitve things I like about myself when I look in a mirrow. Sometimes we tend to be much too critical of ourselves. Let our personalities show!

April already?

Saturday, April 02, 2011

Where does the time go? Somewhere along the line I think that I lost March. On the positive side, I am maintaining my weight loss. Slowly starting to exercise - just wish I was back in the full swing of it.

My attitude about food has totally changed. I do not deprive myself about anything but I do make smart choices. Just because everyone around me eating pie does not mean that I need some too. We celebrated March and February Birthdays the other day. I really was not hungry so skipped the sweet. In the past, I probably would have had some even if I was not hungry. Later I had 1 Chocolate kiss. which is all I really wanted in the first place.

Off to have fun and shop for more new clothes as everything I have seems to be too big. What a nice problem for a change. Plus being with a good friend always helps too! emoticon

All the items you bought looked so great on you! And the virsatality of them comes in handy as well.

Thanks as I had a great time. I love Tiger Sushi, spending time with you, getting our "walking" in and just catching up.

Hugs!

What?

Monday, February 21, 2011

I realized last night that I am worried about keeping off the weight I have recently lost. Since the beginning of the year my weight has stayed in a 5 pound zone. It creeps up to 162 and then drops back to 157. Some of this I know is normal but I am still worried about it.

On the plus side, I have a supportive husband. If he knows what my goals are he helps by encouraging me and keeping me on track. For instance, if I say I will not eat chocolate for a week and I ask for a piece he reminds me of the goal -which does make me thankful.

Another plus side are my friends who keep encouraging me and let me know that I look great or...

Another plus is how I feel health wise. Stronger, energetic and determined.

Thank you all! emoticon

You have come so far with such determination. Just rememember that same determination and motivation will help you keep the weight off. Not to worry you will handle it a day at a time.

I think it is normal especially when you have had to worry about weight for a long time. Just give yourself the 5 lb leeway and as soon as it goes above that by a small amount go back to a stricter regime. Fluid, time of months even seasons have a way of doing that to weight.
