No Gym for You

Ok, I haven't been to the gym yet, and I only did one half hour walk thus far this week. But I'm easing in. This is the first time I've ever tried a true restricted calorie diet and while I'm not finding it too hard, I do think it make sense to let my body get used to that, then ease back into my gym routine. We'll see. Mom in law goes home Thursday and I'm planning on Monday being my first Gym day, since we're away this weekend. But if the hotel has a gym, I'll go there.

    My motivation for going to the gym tends to be BUFFY. Nothing like a little vamp slaying to get your heart pumping and your feet moving on the elliptical. I really was very consistent about going to the gym for nearly two years, I've been away from it for two months (my mother in law came to stay with us and somehow that translated into me not going to the gym). So I'll pack my sneakers and my dvd player when we go this weekend and we'll see what happens. Hubby's working Friday night before we leave so perhaps that is when I should pencil in my restart day!

Bento is Pretty

And good for you. I've finally gotten around to posting some of the bento boxes I made recently. This is a great hobby if you're dieting, portion control and variety are built in. Mine aren't the cutest or the most creative but they were easy to make: www.flickr.com/photos/6146692

    I was out of bento-ing for a bit and haven't gotten up the nerve to take pictures yet. (I'm doing pretty well at tasty and balanced and even "tasty looking" but not at decorative quite yet. I'll get there.) Go you!

Okay, I'll give it a try. Basically, I was doing really really well with gym for over a year (closer to two years). My motivation tool was simple, I had a calendar on the fridge and if I went to the gym or exercised for at least half an hour I got a smiley face on the calendar. More than an hour rated a huge grin with dimples. Less than half an hour but still some exercise? A squiggle for a mouth on my little markered face. No exercise? XX'd out eyes and a frown. Simple and effective. I went to the gym at least three times a week, often more. But I lost NO WEIGHT. I told myself that wasn't the point, I was getting healthier (and I was, I had more stamina). Then my mother-in-law came to visit, ended up staying for two months because she broke her ankle and somehow I haven't been the gym in two months.

So I need to go back and this time I want my old pants to fit. Tracking food, drinking less, and getting my exercise back on. Let's see how it goes.
