Well, here I am almost 30 lbs lighter. .. See I can see my own feet again!

This is not just a short trip, but it's a life long event. Sometimes we find things we temporary do; whether it's a hobby or outing but something that so effects every aspect of your life, I call an life event and it's a theme that is laced through the pages of your years.

I will get this right.. and keep going onto the goals.

Goonies, we can do this!

I rowed right up to this bird. He stood there looking at me like, "come any closer and I'll peck your eyes out". He was easily 4ft tall and could have done so nicely.

Anyhow, I wanted to share at least a couple photos of my outing with you guys.

The River

Hey :)

I'm just posting this photo in blog so you can see how pretty the river is. I had a blast. Of course.. It's 7 miles and takes about 3 hours to kayak. I feel pretty good this morning and actually want to go back out and paddle some more!

I guess when you find an exercise you love you just stick with it.

But I could jump in and cool off if I wanted to look like an idiot trying to get back in the Kayak from 4 ft of water... Now that would be a photo op for the Florida Tourists association.

Hi Guys :)

I was gone this weekend Kayaking. Had a blast and put in several hours out in the water daily.

Just popping in to tell you where I was. It was surprise trip but one I'm glad I could get to go on.

I'm sure I must have burned up some calories because I sure am sore tonight as I sit here typing. I'll post a new pix in the gallery for you to see.. :)

Feet and life changes

One would never guess feet get fat huh? Well they do! Since I've lost almost 30 lbs, my feet have gone from a size 10W too an 8.5 W. Now I have a boodle of shoes which won't fit! hum..... this is weird. And as I'm sitting here thinking about it, I remember that happened last time as well. Ended up being a size 8W.

Ah well... My bra won't fit now either but we won't go there this morning. Poor Puppies...

I was talking to my eldest daughter last night. She's frustrated because she's put on some weight. Her job is high stress and she usually has a soda close at hand. Naughty food is almost always close at hand at work. It didn't take me long to figure out that the folks where she works eat to reduce the stress levels. Anyhow, I asked her how many calories 1 can of soda was. She said, 190 calories! How many of those do you drink a day? Umm... 5-6? I almost choked...

I said, Honey, that's 1140 a day just in soda! I eat barely over that a day. If you eat at all, you are still over your caloric intake for normal healthy people. and to top that off, you eat dinner late in the evening. You are going to keep gaining weight.

She joined SparkPeople last night, so she can get a handle on her food consumption habits. I'm proud of her for trying. It would be so easy to do the things she use to do to loose weight (Stop eating).
She's not very overweight, no. She needs to loose about 20 lbs to feel good again.

My youngest daughter has been a SP member since May I think? She's doing very well. I'm very proud of her determination to keep moving forward. She looks like a new person. Matter of fact, her older sister didn't recognize her yesterday when she saw her getting out of the car at work (They work together). I laughed at that when the eldest told me.

Ah well... Just said, all that to say this. Change happens. We don't have to take what people throw at us food wise. We can look at this as a golden opportunity to make the most dramatic energy switch we've ever been offered. Is it difficult? Well if it was easy everyone would be a normal weight. It's hard and it takes determination and courage.

You can do this. I can do this. We can do this. What has helped me through this process are simple changes.

Get off Sugar
Stop eating white refined products
Eat more veggies
Eat more fruit
Drink more water
Give up fast food-It has a "DO NOT ENTER" stuck on the door for me.
Learn to cook slim down versions of my favorite foods
Schedule "snacks" in my daily routine ( about 150-200 calories)
Eat before I "go out" to a restaurant.
Don't leave the house hungry for errands.
Take a small "snack" with me when I have to go off.
"Think" about my food selections more.
Know trigger foods and avoid them. (Home made BREAD! Donuts)
Get up off the couch and move something! Yes, exercise (fun stuff).
Plan better meals

More tools to help you ...

Food Trackers, keep totals of your daily calorie intake. Should you use it? Duh.. Yes, you should. My math is easily forgotten in the face of a Ding-Dong. Knowing I've already eaten 1200 calories that day will stop me. Can't know that unless you track your food.

Blog about your journey and other stuff you need to get off your chest. It's cleansing :)

SparkPeople Teams are really motivating me; to keep going forward. It's knowing that others are doing the same thing and have similar goals. I've stopped reaching for that "naughty" food suddenly when I remember I have to keep record of my foods and talk about my journey. Keeping true to myself here... Whew... That's a real motivation factor. Just knowing I have all the resources, and material here to be successful and not being... ouch... I can't do that again.

If something in your life hasn't changed in a long time and you aren't happy, it's a sure indication that you need change and it's only you who can take the bull by the horns and move.

Anyhow, it's early and I've a lot to accomplish. I should get moving.

    My feet grew while I was pregnant with my son. I've heard that happens though. They went from a 6/6.5 to a firm 7 now. That's ok, pretty average. I think that it's awesome that your feet are joining the rest of your body parts in the weight loss game!!!

    It seems that no matter how many times I have gained weight, my feet have not. I have skinny little feet that look out of proportion with my body. oh well, the body is getting in better proportion with my feet slowly LOL.

It is great that your family is on Spark. Hope they are goonies so we can support the weight right off them LOL.

  I LOVE it that you are making this a family thing!! That's awesome. I, for one can't wait for my shoe size to change. I have a heck of a time buying shoes. Way to go Mino!!
