Determined

Sunday, April 13, 2014

I'm determined to succeed.

That said, I'm into simple now. Trying to keep things simple, uncomplicated, what comes natural. A comfort zone I can slip into and live in. And I want to surround that zone with flowers :)

You can do it, one day at a time.

Great -- the more things that don't work for you that you pare out of your life, the more energy and time you'll have to do the things that REALLY MATTER TO YOU.

Good luck! emoticon

It Amazies Me . . .

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

It's amazing when I see a day's food total less than 1600 calories. Because I'm so used to eating such huge amounts of food. If I track my WORST day, it would total around 5500 calories and astronomical fat percentages. Though when I eat well and stay within calories and am not really all that hungry, and don't think about food so much, I wonder WHY can't I do this all the time? Why is it taking me so long to make this a lifestyle?! I guess old habits are just so hard to break. But thank goodness I'm not a quitter!

Tracking food is the best way to stay on track. It's easy to over eat.

what DJ4 said is true! Our bodies are addicted and crave the sugars found in so many processed foods. Give your body time to break the cycle - I'm fighting along with you!

It is not that it is a habit but that they put stuff in the food to make you crave it more and as you break that addiction to it, it comes less to want it.

My behavior coach says it takes 6 weeks to unlearn a habit or to learn a new one. Tackle thi thing one day at a time. Every day that you manage to get down to that 1600 calorie target You might also try removing those temptations as much as you can. Fill your fridge with fresh fruits and veggies and the pantry cupboard with apples and oranges. Leave the potato chips and chocolate bars at the store. you can do this, but we all yield to temptation if it hangs around long enough but you can't eat what you don't have.

Logging

Getting back to logging my food, been lax at that. Sunny days giving me more energy, good thing I've lots to do. Hope everyone is having a great week and is doing well on program :)

I find logging really helpful both because it keeps me honest and prevents me from getting to the end of the day and thinking "I didn't really eat that much" when the carbs and calories of the things I did eat may have added up to a lot more than I thought, and because it helps me to see the imbalances in my diet. I really struggle with the fats and sodium ... and somehow I NEVER seem to get enough potassium ... but I'm working on it.
Glad your weather's looking better. We're sunny and +2C in Ottawa today. Maybe we will eventually see spring. emoticon

I hope things are going well for you, too. I've been very faithful with logging my food since I started ( only 3 weeks). I have to do a complete turnaround from what I was doing (eating whatever I wanted) or I'll never make any progress.

Breakfast

Sunday, March 02, 2014

Ok so I finally got up this morning and actually ate breakfast. I know it's important to eat breakfast because if I don't I'm STARVING by lunch. So I'd bought some whole grain Quaker cereal and had that. Very good stuff. I'll have a good day now, won't need lunch for another hour or so. Racing today very hopeful Kasey will win but one never knows. All in all things are going well

Kasey's always on my "to win" short list too.
If you like the Quaker breakfast cereals, you might try some of the Hungry Girl breakfast oatmeal recipes. They only take a few minutes in the microwave and will keep you feeling full until lunchtime.

Spring Is In The Air

Wednesday, February 19, 2014

Sunny and warm days have been upon us and things are going well. In a day or two, hopefully, a new home will be ours. A new to us home that is and will get us out of this cramped, decrepid hellhole we're living in. I am very excited. I'm doing more of the cooking for Mother and I and she seems to be enjoying it, she enjoyed the salmon I prepared for us. Today will be a good day foodwise, am working hard to keep the momentum going. I was so proud of everything I've begun doing lately, really getting back to my regular routine. I'm even writing again so I know my head is getting more together, brain beginning to unscramble. Energy is coming up I feel more like doing things and cannot wait until I can get my garden started, it's going to be GLORIOUS!

Well more later, just checking in and seeing how the land lays. Y'all work hard and have great results!

Cooking for family has always been one of my favorite things to do. Congrats on moving into a new home. Decorating it will keep your mind busy. Have fun and enjoy your mom while you can. My mom passed away July 2013. Now there is a whole in my heart. I think exercise has become my go to thing to do when I start missing her.
