My weight is going down very nicely at 6.4# since the high on Monday. That's rather typical in the first week of a diet change, so no worries there. Besides, I was just coming off TOM as well.
So why did I buy the big clothes? It was something I was hoping to avoid, but I had a few things coming up for which I'll need to wear a business suit and nothing suitable in my closet that fit. I have a video interview with a recruiter on Monday. I'll be doing a shop on Tuesday for which I need to dress in Business Professional attire. And I will finally have my Torrance business license on June 18, and I have clients who want to come in.
So I looked around to see who was actually selling appropriate suits. Macy's had them, but they were too expensive for something that might fit for only a month or so. I looked online to see who else might have one. Kohl's was the only other store that had what I needed.
Fortunately, Kohl's sends me coupons on a regular basis, and I had just recently gotten one. It was one of their peel-off coupons. These coupons are generally for 30%, 20%, or 15% off everything. My most recent one turned out to be for 30% off. It also came with a bonus coupon for $5 off that could be combined with other offers. And the stuff I needed was currently marked down as well. Jackpot!
I ended up getting a suit suitable for interviews and client appointments for just under $50, including tax.

Yesterday I went out to lunch with my friends. (I may want to get my extra weight off, but I want to keep my social life, too.) We went to a gourmet pizza place. Since the place specialized in pizza, I ordered one. After I got home, I looked up the nutrition information for my item. I did not find the exact one, but I found information for a pizza that was not too different at the same restaurant. Well, I found out that I had probably consumed somewhere around 1900 calories in that meal. Oops! Even the nutrition information said that what I ate was actually two servings. I didn't eat anything else the rest of the day. There was a 0.6# uptick this morning; but then, I did eat bread yesterday, so it was kind of expected.
So, next time I go out, I will:
1. Look up the restaurant's menu.
2. Try to determine the nutrition information for my chosen item.
3. When ordering high-calorie items, I will get a box early and put the extra food in it before I start eating.
4. Give the extra food to my son, who will happily eat almost any leftovers.
As for losing my dinner the other night, I felt fine soon afterward. I was not sick. I have eliminated the new food theory. I was able to eat the new food again without incident. That leaves questionable lettuce and that obnoxious burning kale as the cause.

I'm not sure what to make of yesterday. I "lost" my dinner. How does one track that? My son was cooking his dinner and was burning kale in a frying pan. The smell of it drove me out of my work area, and I "lost" my dinner right after that. I wasn't running a fever, so I don't think I was actually sick. There were a couple of other potential causes. The salad greens were a bit questionable even though there were still four days until the expiration date. I tossed those just in case. Also, I ate something new. I have yet to test to see if that might have been the problem. Anyway, I downed a bottle of pediatric electrolyte solution and a couple of those Nice! Gooey Butter Cakes from Walgreen's. (I was hungry, and I wanted something easy to digest.) I also had a cup of bouillon later at night because my sodium count for the day looked low. I'm still down 2.0# from yesterday.

After the Master Cleanse fiasco, my weight kept climbing until yesterday I reached my highest non-pregnant weight ever at 191#. I told myself, "Enough is enough!" Besides, I was looking at needing some new clothes if I didn't do something. I didn't want to have to explain that purchase to hubby.
Given my previous success with Medifast, I decided to try something like that. I would do Medifast except that it's pretty much all soy-based, and that soy is genetically modified. So I looked around for alternatives. I came up with Genisoy's non-GMO Soy Protein Shake and Garden of Life's organic Raw Meal for the shake part of the diet. The protein to carb ratio of these products is not too far different from Medifast's. With that, I'll be eating a meat and veggie meal, plus a serving of fruit.
I'm rather encouraged by my first day results. I was down 3.6#. But then, that sort of result is common in the first week. At least things are going in the right direction for a change.

I've noticed that when I eat eggs, my weight goes down the next day. So yesterday, I made a bacon and egg lunch. I made the mistake of not draining off some of the bacon grease before I cooked my two eggs, though. I ended up with some very greasy eggs. That grease really does kill the appetite. I ended up giving about half an egg to the dog. I felt quite full and a bit nauseated the rest of the day, and I couldn't eat all of my dinner. Next time, I'm going to drain off some of the grease before I fry the eggs. On the plus side, my weight was down 0.8# this morning.
