Mim update...

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Hi all -

Just wanted to give you an update. The end of May and most of June my dad has been in a critical condition. The end of June we had a brush fire at our cabin property we are trying to sell. There's several other significant things that are going on as well but just too complicated to share here. Sorry about just not having the time or spiritual energy to be a good Sparker or team member or leader.

The Friday before memorial day we were up at the cabin and my dad collapsed and had to have ambulance take him to ER at Marshall Medical Center in Placerville CA. He was ultimately admitted to the ICU there to try to get his vitals stabilized. It was touch and go (literally calling family to get ready for his death), while we continued to pray for him and ask our family and spiritual friends to pray for him. My mom & I traded off spending the night with him on the ICU.

In response to prayers he improved and was able to be transfered to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after 8 days. He then spent another 7 days on UCD Cardiology unit for a variety of tests, and differing opinions about the best way to treat his heart condition in light of his other medical issues (diabetes, kidney failure, etc.). Since there was no consensus, they sent home to wear an heart 'event monitor' for a month so they could gather more specific information to help with the assessment. On the 3rd day home he had 2 significant chest pain events and had to use his nitroglycerin. On the following Tuesday he was told to go back to the emergency room to be admitted to cardiology again.

His medical team finally decided that he need to have a dual pacemaker for both upper and lower heart chambers and a defibrillator. So they did the operation and sent him home to recuperate. Unfortunately he caught Clostridium/C. difficile bowel infection -an antibiotic associated diarrhea ... poor dad. He is still dealing w/C. difficle today.

Praying for you and your family. I've missed you and the tales of your native garden activities, but I understand your priorities. Don't forget to take care of yourself.

My thoughts and prayers for you and your family at this very difficult time. I knew he was not in the best of health for some time and that you were spending most of your time dealing with family issues.

My heart goes out to you and yours. Know that you are loved.
God loves you and we do too.

Stay in touch, if ever so briefly and let us know how things progress.

Back in Sacramento

Monday, May 21, 2012

Well the trip back east to buy a farm and visit my sisters (and the drive back home) obviously took a lot more out of me than I thought it would. For me it was hard to stay connected w/Spark People at our new 25 acre farm (no internet connection available at the farm house); then when I was visiting family it was just awkward to bug them so I could access the computer/internet; and I just really could not use my iphone much either (letters just way to small for me to read).

Now that I'm back in Sacramento, I'm overwhelmed with a lot of obligations (especially getting 2 homes ready for sale...) that make it difficult for me to really be part of the active SparkPeople community. So my goals for the rest of the year is to log in, track my food and exercise -but basically keep my online spark time to abt 30 minutes max each day.

Please forgive me for not responding to you directly and thanks for all your encouragement over the years.

Good to see you back. Even only moments a day. Tracking your exercise and diet should help keep you on track.

Good luck with the 2 homes, and glad you are back even if it is only a few minutes a day! That's better than not at all:)

Enjoying cross country trip!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Hi all! Things have been so busy for me these past few months I've not been able to stay connected w/my Spark Peeps :-(

Have no fear, I'm doing good but have been involved in purchasing a farm property in West Virginia. Hammered things out and ultimately drove from California to West Virginia with my parents to finish all the paperwork!!!

Now currently visiting with my baby sister in Virginia.

Hope all are doing great!

Yep, the family is moving to WEST Virginia :-)

During Civil War the state of West Virginia succeeded from the southern state of Virigina, due in part to fewer slave owning sympathies west of the Allegheny Mtns AND the north's desire to keep railroad & armory at Harper's Ferry WV in Union hands. Sooooooo, West Virginia is considered a Northern -not southern state officially; but as we all know it has many ties to Virginia and southern culture. (FYI: Most of WV lies above 37 degrees latitude; or north of Gilroy & Madera CA. )

strange garden tomatoes & broke my toe!

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Hi all,

Thought I should report that while working on my "todo" list around the house (washing windows on outside of the sun-room) earlier this week, I slipped in the suds off of my step ladder and broke my toe, Ouch! So won't be out walking much for next 3-4 weeks. Otherwise its been a pretty good week.

BTW My tomatoes are doing good, but have been gathering some fairly strange ones. I actually took photo of one of my goofy tomato to share with you guys:

Is anyone else having strange fruit in the garden this summer???

OUCH! indeed! Sorry you bunged yourself up -- hope it heals faster than predicted.

I have no strange tomatoes to report because I never got any on my plants. Not even a blossom! STRANGE summer!

I haven't been on in a few days but wanted to know, how's your toe? Anything with toes hurt! Hope you can continue your walks soon. I did one hour today, my son did 10 mile yesterday! Love the tomato! emoticon

    Ouch ouch ouch! (the toe)

Tee hee hee (the funny tomato!)

Over in my neck of the woods, it's been too cool, and we have too much shade in the yard; hence, no tomatoes!

500 Points! :-)

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

At log in today my wheel spin got me 3 points, not great but better than those 1 point spins. Then I started Sparking. I like to do the Trivia and actually answered all three questions correctly, WooHoo! Then I started to Huddle w/my teams, and catch up w/what's been going on; adding a comment here and there, THEN got the notice that I had Sparked enough to get an additional wheel spin. WHAT??? Yeah, another spin and I got 500 spark points!!!! Can you believe it????

So now will spend the rest of the day on and off giving my peeps Spark Goodies!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I now just hope I eventually get my big ol' bootie out of my computer chair and get out to the vegie garden, take my walk, clean the house....

Oh Sparkies give me strength and encouragement to not succumb to the Spark goodie distribution addiction (and excuse not to exercise....)
