Hope most of ya'll are staying warm & healthy.

Hang in there Mims.. If this is your FIRST go-round with this KRAP this season, you are really lucky. Many have been hit with at least twice. It is MEAN STUFF.
Take Care...

SacSparkles rally/walk meet up Jan 31, 6pm

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Winter in Sacramento is usually cold & wet and sometimes keeps some of us locals from getting out and walking. This month the SacSparkles team would like to meet-up at the Arden Fair Mall Monday Jan. 31st, at 6PM. Below is announcement we've posted on the SparkSacramento.com site and other local team sites.

-----------------------
Spark Sacramento: Fitness Walk - Even when its cold & wet!

Monday January 31, 6-8pm
Arden Fair Mall, Lower level entrance
Next to Sears adjacent to the parking garage
1689 Arden Way
Sacramento CA 95815

Join Spark People from around the Sacramento area for an informal 1 mile (2 loops) "Walk for Fitness & Life-Even when it's cold & wet" inside the Arden Fair Mall Monday January 31, at 6pm.

Please use the lower level entrance next to Sears adjacent to the parking garage. The SacSparkles team will have a small check in table set up near the "Inside Track Mall Walker" news & info display.

Folks living and working in the Sacramento area know how cold and wet our winters can be. So the Sacramento Sparkles team wanted to instigate an impromptu Spark Rally, or meet up, at the Arden Fair Mall to inspire people to get out and walk at the mall when the weather is cold and wet outside.

After the walk, we'll head up to the food court tables on the second level for refreshments and to hear how everyone is doing with their New Years resolutions and personal fitness goals.

Please send RSVP via "SparkMail" to: MIMULUSBUG, SMASHY1, & JAY75REY if you think you might be able to come, if you would like additional info about this event, or might be willing to help us with set up on the first level or with refreshments/water at the food court. An RSVP will also give us an idea of how many people to prepare for.

We look forward to meeting new Spark Friends!

Great idea Ladies!! I will be happy to help in any way that I can! Lets see what I can do with this knowledge and maybe
that will help me remember that this game I am playing is NOT getting the weight off--exercise and watching what I eat is necessary

Gardening w/an AmeriCorps team

Saturday, January 08, 2011

As some know I do volunteer gardening at the california native plant demo-garden in the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery. One of the many tasks in this public garden is to lay down wood chips in the aisles to keep the aisles mud free during the rainy winter months here in Sacramento and hopefully help w/weed abatement in the other months of the year. In December I was asked if we could use help from an AmeriCorps Team of about 11 young adults in January -so I said yes of course.

So yesterday I was up at 5am to get ready for full day of garden work spreading about 1 ton of wood chips 3-4 inches high in the aisles. We worked from 8am to 4pm with a lunch break. It was hard fun work, and pretty inspiring for this old gal. What a great group of hard working, intelligent, civic minded, enthusiastic young people. I had a wonderful time with them. I wanted to share a picture of the AmeriCorps crew that came out with some of the lovely new woodchips they laid around the Bush Anemone (Carpenteria californica).

I know all of us were going to sleep good when we went home.

brrrrr..... you were out there today? It was COLD.. I don't envy the hard work you must have put in laying those things. Makes me thankful I was at a desk :) Good looking bunch. It's great when younger ppl are willing to help for free.

ryn: Yup, my sushi picture is the picture of my sushi I made... I'm glad you are so inspired! :) It's not too hard but takes a little work in rolling... watch how on youtube or something liek that.

Sounds like a great day. Hard work, but great day, which would make for a good nights sleep. Love working hard outside all day. Can't wait for Spring. Your background picture is really beautiful. Thanks for your and Americorp's hard work.

Cleaning house & surprise casseroles

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Oh my! Since the company left I've been trying to get some cleaning done. The house is a mess, my desk is a mess, my email accounts are overflowing... WOW having fun for too long lets a lot of stuff back up and get shoved to the side.

Then I get the following cartoon note and just started laughing:

Yeah; I've got a few surprise casseroles in every room at the house, on my desk top, and even in my auto-mobile, LOL!!

Thank goodness for laughter; I was beginning to get stressed out.

Have fun Mims - I am still laughing - what a cute cartoon.
I always like to clean AFTER the company leaves. No sense cleaning before they arrive, it's all going to get UNDONE anyway.

Have fun.
