Cathy Thorne's above cartoon made me stop and think about my body image tonight, and I realized I've never really had a great body image of myself -even when I weighed 103 pounds soaking wet. It seems like I always had something that I wish was different about my body from the teen years on. Today I chuckle about having to go on a diet because I saw 125 pound on the scale, or because I thought my butt and thighs were getting too 'jiggly'.
Any comments/insights on this issue and how to get more positive would be much appreciated.

This Wednesday morning it was raining, so I called my cousin Alma about our morning walking plans in light of the weather. Alma suggested joining a friend of hers, who is in a walking club that meets at Sunrise Mall Monday-Saturday between 8AM-10AM. So we made plans to meet at Sunrise Mall at 9AM and check it out.
When I got to the parking lot (east of the Elephant Bar Restaurant), I was amazed to see over 75 autos at the mall! Dang, these mall walkers are serious! Once we found the 'secret' entrance to the mall, we connected w/Alma's friend, she took us over the host table and we signed up as a "Friend-in-Fitness Mall Walking Club" member at Sunrise Mall. They give you an ID badge that you wear so that the mall security folks know that you are a walker and not just the general public trying to get in before the mall actually opens. The loop at Sunrise Mall is .74 miles, everyone is friendly and walks at their own pace, and there is a small coffee & juice booth that is open for those who might want a little refreshment after their walk.
I'll definitely be doing this walk again, especially on rainy days. Anyway, we'll be doing this walk next Wednesday at 9AM. If you live in the Sacramento area near Sunrise Mall please think about joining us.

My cousin Alma & I were on the phone this past Sunday, complaining about all the rain we've been having, feeling like blimp-ettes since we've not been getting out to walk because of the rain excuse. We finally came to the conclusion that we would go walking together on Monday and Wedensday mornings -no matter what.
Alma has a small toy poodle, Chloe, and they usually go walking at Carmichael Park and then end the walk at the doggie park so Chloe can interact w/other dogs. So this Monday, we met at Carmichael Park (corner of Fair Oaks Blvd & Grant), walked the loop and then went to the doggy park, AND WHAT FUN!!! I've never been to a doggy park before, and it was a blast to watch all the dogs running around barking, playing and their owners interacting, throwing balls, drinking coffee, laughing, etc.
I enjoyed it alot and hope that others in Sacramento might consider joining us with their dogs this coming Monday, 9am.

Sorry about being MIA so long, but February ended up being busier than normal. I let a lot of things get in the way of Sparking, but hope to do better this month. (I'm happy to report that we've cleared most of the duff & shrubs from around the cabin this February to meet fire/insurance standards, Yeah! But getting it done required quite a few "trips up the hill".)
Bella our Australian shephard is still with us, but her health continues to decline. Right now we are just trying to keep her comfortable. Thanks to all for your sweet thoughts & prayers on her behalf. Our three kittens, Tigger, Squeaky & Bootsie got into it with the neighbor's chihuahua this week -it was quite the hoot. Plus Squeaky accidently jumped into our pool, trying to escape a playful attack from Tigger. WOW, was she shocked when she landed in the pool -but she paddled out of the pool like a champ!
I can't believe that March is already here, but so glad to log on to SparkPeople and start catching up w/everyone's blogs & status. Almost everyone seems to be doing good to GREAT! I really appreciate the blogs and was really inspired by SWEETERINA71's blog on Jan 2, 2010, so please be sure and check it out if you haven't already:

Survived court visit and things are ok now -YEAH!!!
LOBO77 posted following youtube link, about Nick Vujicic:
It's a pretty amazing clip about loving life, being happy & overcoming adversities. I was very encouraged by this clip so had to share w/you. It really made my court worries almost silly.
Well gotta go, got some Sparking catch up to do!
