Wishing for a "fluless" world...

Friday, November 16, 2012

I have the flu! :/ Every year the same thing! I always wear warm clothes, I stay inside when itís cold outside, I stay away from people that have the flu, I get vaccinated every year and most importantly as they say... I wash my hands 100 times a day. But it makes no difference! I still get the flu every year this time! And thatís not it! I also get it at least once more until spring.

I eat right and exercise by the way. I am a 4th year pharmacy student so I know my vitamins. But it looks like my immune system hates the flu virus!

Anyway... So I have the flu. All the symptoms listed in my 800 page pharmacology book... Runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, muscle aches, fever etc. My exams are due in one week but that is not what Iím worried about... I canít go to the gym. emoticon I started a new gym 1 week ago and for the first time in my life I have a personal trainer and I was doing great. Not being able to go till last Monday makes me feel bad. So I was complaining to myself as usual until I realized... I really wanted to exercise!

I wouldnít think I would ever feel bad about not being able to exercise before... I wouldnít because I hated exercise... All sorts of it. But now?

I knew that this day would come one day but I would have never guessed that it would come this soon. GREAT! I canít wait to get better and head to the gym again. emoticon

Feel better soon, friend. I am afraid the bugs are too good at changing their stripes for us to stay ahead of them...
I am lucky in that I (almost) never get flu... I remember having it exactly once and there is no way I could do finals or a project of any kind in that condition. Wake up, void, drink OJ, back in bed for ANOTHER 8 hours. For nearly 2 weeks. I probably lost 20 lbs...at least some good came out of it. LoL

I sometimes go a year without a cold even. I get the flu shot every year (Dr's orders).
Good luck.

Visualize a Healthy, Happy Life!

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Earlier today I created myself an hour of free time to listen to SparkRadio. (I was having my breakfast for half of that time.) Right at the end of the podcast, Lily and Karen were talking about visualizing how we would look when we reached our goal... I closed my eyes and tried to visualize... I tried and tried... NOTHING! I canít visualize myself slim! Maybe itís because I havenít been slim for a LOOONG time? Maybe for another reason I canít think of right now...

I donít know what to take out of this. It might not even be a bad thing. So I choose to keep positive and motivated and be excited about how I will look when I reach my goal. It will be a surprise. And I am sure I will not look this unhealthy! Ever again... emoticon

Can you visualize yourself at your goal? If you can, how do you look? emoticon

Visualizations don't work for me either. Maybe mentally work through a specific step for getting thin instead? Say, rehearsing how to politely turn down food at a party?

I'm Back...

Monday, November 05, 2012

This saturday I will complete my 6th month on Spark People weight loss journey. Until now I have lost about 10 kilograms and gone 1 pants size down :)

I have been maintaining for the last month mostly because I moved to a new city and I could not find the time and the place to exercise and partly beacause I did not track! Now that I started tracking again I realize how good tracking was for my motivation and for my overall progress.

So today I am registering at a new gym. New place, new people, new trainer! :D So I am excited... And I believe I might be able to catch up with my goal due next month if I work hard enough :)

With Love to All my Spark Friends emoticon

2 months!

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Today I complete 2 months at SparkPeople! So far so good... I was abroad on a holiday where I did not have an internet connection so I have been away from the community and my trackers. Also my scales battery is finished so I could not weigh myself after I came back. It was a 1 week holiday that included a significant amount of walking and I watched what I ate as much as I could so I am hoping I did not gain any weight.

I was in the middle of my 5K rookie challange when I left... I tried to move on to the next stage the day after I came back but it felt so difficult... I was not expecting this.. at least not after only 1 week... Today I will try it again :) Hopefully it will feel better...

Great news!

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

You all know how I was complaining about a plateau. It started 3 weeks ago and for those weeks I didn't lose much. Just a few hundred grams. Guess what? It's over! emoticon

I usually weigh myself only on Saturdays or Sundays. Last sunday when I weighed myself I was only 100grams lighter (about 0.2lb). Today in the morning a voice in my head told me to go and weigh myself. Well I did listen to it. And I weighed 3 pounds less! I was jumping up and down in the house :) emoticon

Exercising is getting more interesting. I can't say I love it but it's less boring then it used to be. I also found some time to go to the beach and swim this week which was great! When I track it looks like I've burned loads of calories but I never get tired while swimming... I find this weird. What do you think?

Plateaus are discouraging but they do not last forever.
