Walking

Monday, February 28, 2011

It was sprinkling, but I insisted my friend and I go for a walk. I figured if we went around the block, we'd at least get some walking done. But as we went we decided to keep going. We ended up going our normal route. We got a little wet, but felt better for it.

Goofed

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I'm not sure what I ate wrong yesterday, but I gained .6 of a pound. I was so disappointed, but I refuse to let it get me. I will not gain again today!!!! I have trouble with salt, so maybe something I ate had too much salt in it. Oh, well. Today is another day.

My weight is fluctuating too. Too much Na in my diet also. But.. I do think I'm gaining muscle with the consistent exercise, I feel stronger. Muscle weighs more than fat so an increase at the beginning of the challenge may be a good thing.

Try to only weigh once a week, we all have daily fluctuations based on what we eat.

You can't let that get you down, especially when you are making good choices. If you are making poor choices, then you begin again, right now!

Sometimes weight has an annoying tendency to fluctuate, no matter how well we eat or how intensely we work out. I'm having a week where I'm eating great and getting in good exercise, and I've been going up, up, up a couple ounces each day, until today I was down a few ounces. It's all a part of the process. Don't sweat it; your body will catch up soon. =)

Exercise

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Another beautiful day to exercise. Today I got to change my routine. I shoveled snow! Well, that is a different exercise, isn't it? It was a good workout. The snow was heavy, so I got a strength workout. Plus I walked and did my aerobics too.

I did my shoveling yesterday...the snow plow was kind enough to add lots of calorie burning snow in front of my house.

I don't care for shoveling- I have a chronic shoulder injury. But I will push the snow blower if necessary. But honestly- I try to get my daughter to do it. Shoveling is great exercise but I look forward to the snow being gone, gone, gone!! I'm glad someone enjoys it- Haha

We didn't get enough to shovel, here in southern RI...but i LOVE snow AND shoveling it (less time I have to spend on the exercise bike...).

Shoveling snow is great exercise. I shoveled a couple of days ago and then went snowshoeing. More snow is coming tomorrow so I see more shoveling in my future.

Relay for Life

Saturday, February 19, 2011

It's that time of year again to think about supporting a "Relay for Life" group. They have people walk all night (weather pemitting). So it's a good way to get plenty of exercise. It's enjoyable, and you are supporting the fight for canser. Hope you all consider it.

    Thanks Mom!

Unfortunately we have too many family members who have fought or are fighting this battle.

This is my 14th year walking, 15 since my husband died. Wish you could be here this year since you're a survivor too.

Love you

I Need Help!!!

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

I've lost 12 pounds and been working at it since Nov. Now's about the time I decide I've done enough. Sure hope I don't fall into that trap again. If I keep coming to Sparkpeople, I should be all right. Here's hoping!!!

I've been in that mindset too, so I'm just keeping doing what I know I need to do ... checking in to spark, eating right, tracking every morsel lick and bite, moving. Soon we'll both be in new territory, and happy about it! You can do this!

That's a wonderful accomplishment! Why don't your work on the assignments in the Winter-1 5% challenge and post them on your blog? They include things like thinking about WHY you want to lose the weight, and what your trigger foods are, and things like that. Check them out on the main Winter-1 5% community board. They always help me re-focus.

YOu have accomplished a lot and you should be proud of yourself. Imagine what another 4 months can do for you. Take it one day at a time and keep coming back to sparkpeople for support. Remember you have to do more than hope...you have work at it every day! emoticon
