With the coming of Fall

With the coming of Fall I need to get back on track. Last spring I joined a boot camp class and hurt my knee. In the process of pt and taking it easy I put back on 10 pounds. It didn't stop me from having fun. Went skydiving on Mother's Day weekend and participated in the Dirty Girl Mud Run in August. Two things to cross off my bucket list. Sky diving was AWESOME!!! Had a great time at the dirty girl. Hope to participate in another one next year and maybe even the warrior dash. So my goals for the rest of the year is to remove the 10 pounds I have gained and to lose even more and to continue to keep my blood sugar under control.

    I checked out your pics and your sky diving looks like so much fun. I've been diabetic for years and still have trouble keeping my blood sugars under control. But I think I'm allergic to exercise which doesn't help. I'm just kidding but I do have a hard time motivating myself to just get out there and do it. You make it look like fun.

Wild horses couldn't get me out sky-diving....but the mud run sounds like fun!!!

2011 what a year....2012 look out

Wow what a year. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in June. That was and is still is an ongoing learning experience, Thank you to all the Sparkers who answered my questions and offered ideas that had worked for them. Went on a woman's pedal and paddle adventure. Kayaked 12 miles and rode my bike the next day for 50 miles which is the farthest I have every ridden. Went on to ride 35 miles in an autumn trek held locally. Lost 30 pounds and lowered my AC1 to 5.9. And I became a Grandma in September.
Looking forward to 2012. Already am planning on trying a Dirty Girls Mud Run in the summer. Happy New Year!

Is it feed a cold starve a fever or the other way around?

Have been feeling like crap this week, fever, cough everything. Most of my daycare kids have a hard time sharing but freely share their crud with me. LOL Energy level is low but have been making it to the gym every night even if it is for only 30 minutes. But I want to eat, eat, eat and all not good choices. BLAH!

    Well, the new philosophy is "do whatever your body tells you". If you feel like eating, then eat, otherwise don't. Regardless be sure to hydrate - lots of water, juice , broth based soups. Oh, and Mom's Chicken Soup really does work.

Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better quickly.

    I get like that too when I'm sick...I want to eat! And I think "shouldn't I not have an appetite since I don't feel good?"

Maybe you should lay off the gym and let your body rest while you get better. Lots of liquids though!

Hope you feel better and sorry I can't remember how the saying goes!

My feet hurt

My sugar numbers have been very good and the weight is slowly coming off. Went for a walk last night and think I may have overdone it. Because my feet hurt like crazy. Just on the bottom with I stand or walk. Crazy I know. Usually ride my bike or go to the gym and use the epilitical but last night was so nice I walked approximately 5 miles. Won't be doing that again any time soon. Off to put my feet up for a while. Have a great day everyone.

    Make sure your shoes are fitting you good, I had foot problems & found out your feet continue to grow but most of us don't change our shoe sizes. tennis shoes are suppose to be 1/2 size bigger than regular shoes. Don't give up on walking it is great - when your feet don't hurt - just don't walk so long at one time.

emoticon Check my sugar this morning and it was 95. YAY ME!!!! Now to just keep it up. Had a great day shopping. Took a cooler with me with fruit and string cheese. I pre planned everything. Maybe a little over kill but I felt more in control. Have a safe and fun 4th of July everybody. emoticon
