Oh my aching back!

Monday, December 21, 2009

While packing my car to leave Maine, I pulled something in my back. Well, spending 13 and 1/2 hours in a car trying to get back to PA before the snow storm didn't help. I wasn't able to walk the short time I was there since it was way too cold. I tried it tonight - had to walk very slow. I hate not being able to work out. Of course, spending 3 days in the car, not walking, did not lose a pound. On the plus side, I didn't put one on either. I just hope this passes. Trying to wrap presents was a killer but I'm half way through.
My daughter and her husband will be here Wednesday. When my son and his wife come over, we will start our traditional cut out cookies. We've been doing them since the kids were little. We all spend the day in the kitchen just having fun.
Right now I'm sitting with the heating pad.....feels good!

Hope your back is soon feeling better. I am sure all the sitting and lack of exercise didn't help. But don't do too much too soon. Hope you are better and can enjoy your holiday traditions. Blessings!!! emoticon emoticon

I wish for an swift recovery.
When you recline try to sleep on the side and put a pillow between your knees, it takes the stress off of the back.
Now if you sleep on your back, put the pillow under your knees.
Also remember to try to move and push yourself to the limit of pain and in a controlled manner.
And that too much sitting, reclining does not help...

It's beautiful but a back breaker!

Sunday, December 20, 2009

I've been out working in the snow and needed a break. I took a few pictures since I think it is absolutely gorgeous out there. Have to admit, shoveling it isn't fun. My wonderful neighbor came with his snow blower and did my driveway. Just think of the calories I'm burning doing all the work! Glad it's not a daily occurrence. So, for those of you who don't have any snow, take a look at what we have.

Home again

Saturday, December 19, 2009

I ended up leaving Maine at 10:30 Friday morning after my pet sitter called to warn me of the storm. I did stop in Massachusetts to collect hugs from our dearest friends but got right back on the road and arrived home in PA at 12:10 AM on Saturday morning. Now I'm trying to catch up on SP....a lot to read. The snow just keeps coming and looks like we still have a lot to go.

Had a wonderful visit with my Mom and Dad. We spent the entire day, Thursday, with Mom and she was having an exceptionally good day. There are times that I know she recognizes my face but that day she knew my face and that I was her daughter. That was the best Christmas present anyone could have given me. I know those days are getting further apart and I relish each and every time I see that special gleam in her eyes. She was able to talk for awhile until she started to get tired and then you could no longer understand what she was trying to say. I hated leaving but I needed to get home. I thank God every day that I have wonderful cousins that look after Dad and always include him in their get togethers.

I did have WiFi at times but not enough to really stay connected so I really missed by SP friends. Now I will have to catch up.

Merry Christmas to all,

Mary Anne emoticon emoticon

Homeward bound

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Will start my return drive to PA tomorrow which means 2 days in the car again. I haven't been able to walk while visiting my folks in Maine. When the temperature is negative and the wind is gusting between 35 - 45 degrees, you don't really feel like walking. The WiFi connection has also been poor so it's made it difficult to stay connected to SP emoticon

By Sunday I should be back in my routine and waiting for the kids to come home for Christmas. I have really missed everyone at SP and will probably spend a day on my butt trying to read everything. I haven't figured a way to workout and work the computer at the same time.

Love WiFi almost as much as SP

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Here I am in Maine and every once in a while I can connect to WiFi for a few minutes before it drops me. So, had to take a minute to say hello and man is it cold - 14 degrees and that does not include the wind CHILLLLLLL! My folks are doing well and mom still knows me - what a wonderful Christmas present that is.

Glad you made it safely.....enjoy the visit with folks. It has been cold here in IL too. Today not much wind, at least. Wonderful that you can recognize the Christmas present you have received, esp from your mom. Have a Merry Christmas!! emoticon emoticon
