I've had a lot of excuses lately why I haven't been taking care of myself, but its time to turn that back around. I'm the heaviest I've been and I don't feel well. I need to be healthier for my husband and my kids, but mostly for me. I know what I need to do, as I've done it before. It's time to work the plan.

Finding a way to make time for me

Ever feel like everyone else's needs come before your own? That's where I am. I need to find a way to ensure I have time for my meal planning and Sparkpeople/coach time, as well as the little things (like giving myself a pedicure!). Today I begin to take back some time for me!

    Can you make your meal planning time a family time? Involve the kids and husband in planning at least the dinners. Good together time as well as being able to educate everyone on healthy eating.

July 5 and Fireworks

Today is our community Fourth of July celebration - as there will be the big fireworks show tonight. That means we have a bunch of friends over to celebrate with a cookout and then walk over to the high school where the show will be. I'm looking forward to this. Have planned to make a big fruit salad, and a Mediterranean veggie salad and have also made homemade baked beans (which I don't like, but the kids do). I've decided not to do my catch up work today - it can wait until Monday. Today is hang out with the kids and get stuff done!

I should be pretty active, but I'm not starting with a morning walk today. We shall see how many steps today. Began the "plateau busting" Sparkcoach program today. Already feeling clearer about what I need to do. The food scale it out and very handy. TRACK - TRACK - TRACK!


Reducing stress...

I just went for my physical yesterday and had to face the fact that I've put on 20 pounds. I just got my new FitBit Flex - which is motivating me to exercise more. But the other thing that I know is causing me to gain is the stress. I need to focus in the next week and a half on finishing the tasks that I have left from work (I'm supposed to be on vacation) so that I can rest and recharge. Then, when I go back, I will put limits on my work, and find ways to reduce my stress, while still doing a great job. In fact, if I do put limits on, I'll likely do a better job, since I won't be stressed!

Adding elements of support...

At work an email went out a few weeks ago: Would anyone be interested in joining a WW at Work program? I thought, while I have Sparkpeople for many of my needs, it might be good to add a level of support and do the WW at Work program, so I signed up. I had done WW in the past, and I knew that I could use my Sparkpeople tools and follow the Momentum program without too much difficulty. I was really hoping for increased support from my coworkers.
What a good decision! My co-workers are great. It was wonderful just seeing how many of us were there for that first meeting, and now that we know we are all doing this together, we cheer each other on in our good choices, get together for lunchtime activity, and send emails of encouragement! Even if we don't keep the program up after the 10 weeks, we now know who each other are and can continue to support each other.
Having both the online world of Sparkpeople and the face-to-face world in my office for support is making a difference to me!

    I have the same thing at my workplace. Although we are all doing something different. We have our weekly kick in the butt get moving email. I think the more support we have, the better off we are! I recorded a 1.1 lb weight loss this week! I love it!
