Encouragements

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Amazing how good it feels to wear clothes that fit comforably, not too tight. Wore a pair of capri's today that felt really good and they really made me feel good. I know I still have a ways to go but each little bit of encouragement really helps. It was also great to be able to do so much walking this past week in Minneapolis. Was still tired at the end of the day but I could do a lot more walking this year. Looking forward to do alot more with less pain next year. emoticon

I'm looking forward to being able to walk for longer periods of time and standing without pain. I'm trying to use a pedometer and increase my steps daily. emoticon

What a wonderful sign of your progress! It is a great feeling to feel comfortable and know you're looking your best in clothes that were "a little snug."
I hope you have a better year health wise and the days of pain are gone.
Stay positive,
Sheila

Back Home

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

I have been in hospital 5 days. Just couldn't shake whatever was wrong, gave up and went to the dr. I was dehydrated (how I couldn't figure out; 8 glasses of water a day), low potassium, low blood pressure, high blood sugar. On Wed. a.m. we started out on an out patient basis, with IV antibiotics and fluids, by p.m. I was admitted. Next day did a Cat Scan, have LOTS of infection around kidneys. Was not a fun 5 days. See a urologist on Wed., but it is absolutely wonderful to be home. Only to you friends will I tell this: I love my husband but do men truly not see things lying around. Last week's newspaper, blankets from when I was so cold, dishes in the sink. It always amazes me, how they can walk by something many times and not pick it up. Don't get me wrong he was good to help when I felt so bad but if we put it away as we used it things wouldn't be quite so cluttered. Thanks for listening, hopefully will keep me from saying something ugly to him. God's blessing to you all!!

I'm so glad that you're home and hope you're soon feeling better. I have a chronic kidney disease and know how painful it can be. Getting a kidney infection of any sort just wears you out!
Rest and relax; give yourself time to heal. It's hard to do, but try to overlook the clutter from daily life that always builds up. It's not the important thing right now - you are!
The clutter can wait - your health can't.
I'm sending healing thoughts your way,
Sheila

Oh, MY! I know JUST how you are feeling! In 1992, on December 17th, I ended up in the Navy hospital for just the same thing! I was there for five days, also!!! I'd rather go into labor again than experience that! Oh, I'm so glad you're home and feeling better! emoticon

I don't think guys really think about that stuff... unless they trip over it, it's really not there! emoticon

You take care! Love, Your friend, Lori

Oh that is so like my house he is good about things like cooking while I'm sick and taking care of me if I need it but to pick up things or do a dish forget it he is great in so many ways but definitely not a housekeeper. Hope you are feeling better and just let things slide until you are ready. Good Luck.

Yay to being back home but :( to feeling lousy. I wish you good thoughts and healing. I am not married but I hear how husbands seem to not notice dirty dishes or things laying around. Almost a normal daily conversation at my work :) Get well soon!!

New Mini Goals

Thursday, April 01, 2010

April 2nd - Will walk to our mailbox each day, it is apprx. 1/4 mile, so that will be 1/2 mile a day. Please pray for me as I walked for about 20 min. in Wal-Mart today, grocery shopping, my least favorite thing to do. Had to take a pain pill this p.m.
April 13th - I have to return to the surgeon for check up; want to loose 4 more lbs. That will make 45 lbs. total gone.
April 24th - Leaving for FL would love to loose 5 more lbs. That would make a total of 50 lbs.
When I have been on other diets, not life changes, between 50 and 70 lbs. I start loosing my motivation and will power. Whenever I have begun to feel a little down on SP I always get on the message boards or a couple of Spark Buddies Blogs and there is always something they say to show me and lift me up.

Recovery

Friday, March 19, 2010

The recovery from knee replacement is going very well. I do the P.T. 3x's a week at the clinic. I do it at home at least twice a day. The knee is progressing well. Yesterday I had a dental appt. I have to take an antibiotic everytime I go to the dentist now. We were early for the appt. so my DH and I walked for about 30 minutes through a strip mall which is his least favorite thing to do. Bless his heart I am not always(rarely) a very good patient. I don't like to rely on others. I am the one who is supposed to be taking care of others. The only thing I don't do well by myself right now is putting myself on the motion machine.
My #1 goal is to keep up the exercise time after the P.T. I always feel better(well, except for Wed.'s therapy) afterwards.
I don't do blogs too well. Guess I have a hard time putting things in writing or thinking anyone really wants to know what I think!
My #2 goal is to make a blog entry 4 out of 7 days. That's half. Oooooh, I will really try with this one.
Hope everyone has a BLESSED weekend!

I have trouble blogging because I never have much to say! I try to do one at least 3 times a week.
I'm glad you are doing well after your knee surgery. Stay with the exercise - it helps. My knees were so painful when I first started at Spark that I couldn't walk very far at all. I see a big difference due to the daily walking and weight loss.
Stay positive!
Sheila
