Time off, body recovered & ready to run!

Well, what can I say... it's been a long time off.
I had a accident on my mountan bike. I went off the road and flipped it down an embankment.
I got lucky and only had brused ribs, a gash(which I now scarred for life) under my right eye, I also twisted my ankle tore ligiments there as well as in my knee.
I have been recovering ever since.
In that time I gained 20 lbs back that I am ashamed of... as well, slipped into so old bad habits of thinking negatively.

Now, I feel I am heeled and ready to get on with my goals again.
If I didn't have this website and the support from staff and the motivation I get from others members here, I don't know what I would do!
I ran 40 minutes today and plan to add 2 minutes to that every second day for a couple months before I get on a milage plan again.

Everyone has a set back from time to time. I am there right now on re-build mode. Where I was seems far away, but here I come so sit back relax and watch me go!!

Finally we are getting some better weather here in Nova Scotia!
I have run 4 times now in my shorts and sleeveless. :)
Today I ran 19 miles. The weather was just perfect and I really enjoyed the run.
I had one long hill that took a bit of wind out of my sails but I recovered and found my legs shortly after.
I thankful to God for my running going so well, and knock on wood....no injuries lingering around. I am hoping I can continue this a few more weeks and then taper for my marathon June 21st here in Pictou County.
I am doing the Johnny Miles Full Marathon again.

Wow, finally looking like winter is on the way out! I had a good long run today again. I am in for an easier week this week as it is a cutback/recovery week for me. I know my body is ready for the cutback and I am sure the easy week will pay off next week-end on the long run.
I am just taking it one run at a time and running within my abilities and trying to stay un-injured. Training for the marathon can have so many setbacks when you put your body through such milage...I know from my injury prone year last year! If I can just make it to the marathon healthy I know everything will take care of itself.
So glad to be on the tail end of this winter....it's been 5 snowy and cold months now!

March Madness update - 2 bottles of Gatorade and lots of vasoline!

Well here we are.... half way through March and on the tail end of a very very long winter!
This winter has been cold, windy and snow filled but I guess that's life on the east coast of Nova Scotia. We have had a couple good ones until this one so I forgot just how bad it can get.

I continued to run outside all winter and only ran a handful of runs of the treadmill. I managed to not fall thus far and have stayed basically un-injured besides a couple small muscle pulls.

My workouts are also coming along nicely. With the good weather around the corner I am really looking forward to getting the bike back out and putting in a few miles there as well.

2 bottles of Gatorade and lots of vasoline and I was off to run 25 miles this morning. I felt great! (Well, as great as you can feel making your body run 25 miles. LOL)

To think, 3 years ago where I was and today I ran a training run of 25 miles!!
I thank God everyday for blessing me with this new lease on life....
God AND Spark People of course! :)

    I applaud you. Running outside all winter - that is fantastic. So glad that you didn't fall or get injured. Way to get a 25 mile run in today - you are an inspiration!
