Marathon Training update

Things are going well with my training. I am currently coming off a 61 mile week and climbing slowly. I am working it to 80 miles if all goes well.
I am also biking 2-3 days a week and strength training 2-3 days a week.
So far so good....feeling healthy, eating well, sleeping well and injury free.

How did I do it? and a promise made...

I often run into people who haven't seen me in a long time and I am asked that same ole question: You look great....."How did yah do it?"
First of all I am usually lost for words, and my explaination of HOW is so hard for me to explain and changes from person to person.
How do I sum up the past 3 years of my life in a few words? All the sweat...all the miles, all the hours, the healhy eating etc etc.

I think everyone who asks is really just looking for an easy answer, or an easy way to getting in shape. But really there is no easy answer... time is the answer but not just time, it takes effort, focus, dedication, motivation, support etc etc.

So as of late, I pondered an easy way to answer that question and here it is:
"You wanna know how?....... SparkPeople.com that's how!
Then it's "Whats that"....
"It's a free online diet and healthy living website that teaches you everything you need to know about HOW TO DO IT" my username is "MacIronDude", look me up and we'll take it from there. :)
I made a promise almost three years ago to God in a prayer... I prayed to get help to lose the weight, be healthy and find happiness in my life again...and if I did, I would dedicate the rest of my life to inspiring and motivating people who are in the same boat as I was at that point - Feeling hopeless. Well, I got help and I made it and the journey continues, as does that promise! :)

    Your story is just awesome! I know - I get the same questions from people all the time, and they want an easy fast fix. It does not happen quickly. I used to be the worse (or best) customer for diet pills, do nothing but take this pill and lose weight. Well, there is no quick fix, like you said. Just get back to basics and it works. That is really hard to get people to understand though! So, Congrats and keep it up! You have inspired me too! emoticon

    Hey Mike, you have definitely inspired me to keep on keeping on with my running. It has been slow going but I haven't given up. So for that I thank you.

I think you are correct. Folks do want an easy answer - they don't want to have to think about making themselves healthy, they don't want to actually do something to make themselves healthy - they just want it to happen. You're new answer of SparkPeople.com is a great idea and I know you will inspire others to get healthy.

2009 - 3 years with Spark People!

Coming up on 3 years with Spark People for me....wow!

I have come so far over the past 3 years, with the help of this website and the staff and members whom I owe my life to, truely I do.
The support, the encouragement... through the good and bad times is something I can never forget. I have changed physically, but more important - spiritually, and I feel blessed to have made it this far. I am so thankful for my health and appreciate life so much more now.
