Screw you scale!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Up a pound?? Really?? I've been busting my a$$ 90 minutes a day, 6 days a week and I gained a pound!?!?! I have been working so hard, I haven't lost anything, I gained weight in the first three weeks after I had Paige then I got serious about losing it and in a month the only change is gaining a pound!

Yes, logically I know, muscle weighs more than fat, I am only 2 months postpartum, I can't cut calories because of breastfeeding, it took 9 months to put on and will take time to work off...

...... but SERIOUSLY?!?!

Ok.. moment has past, pity party is over.. back to working out... the weight will come off.. the weight will come off.

I'm not brestfeeding and I still only lose a few oz. a month and at times I go months without losing anything. But....when I put on clothes that is where I notice the difference. Don't give up you'll notice changes soon even if not on the scale. Good luck.

We were just talking about this in the group...

With BF'ing the weight is going to be a lot slower due to the # of calories you have to intake to keep up your supply and I believe with the hormones you may keep your fat stores and those last 5-10 pounds are the hardest until you are done BF'ing...do the numbers and you'll see there isnt much of a differential to "lose" if you need to burn through 3500 calories a week to lose 1 pound. I think I've lost MAYBE 1 pound a month so far since the BIG weight amount came off and stabilized...

I know it's hard, but try to be patient with yourself. Like you said, it took 9 months to gain the weight, it will take time to lose it. Take one day at a time.

Sorry to burst your bubble here!:( BUT, a pound is a pound! What your experiencing is more likely fluid from muscle building! It WILL go away. And think of it this way. A pound WEIGHS the same as fat BUT muscle takes up less room. With a brand new baby your health and strength are so much more important. Put the scale away and look at baby instead. If I was lucky enough to have ever had one I know that's what I would concentrate on!:))

Congratulations on your new miracle! You VERY LUCKY!!! Please take no offense at my comment. It took me FOREVER to realize the # is A # thing! emoticon

Sore!! What am I training for??

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Boy am I sore today! I am back in the swing of working out. Awhile back my mom gave me a core performance workout book, I flipped through it a few times and it focusing on working out your core, flexibility and balance. It's a 12 week program so I figured why not? So I started that and Jillian Michaels 'Making the Cut'. I've been throwing in an odd workout DVD and bike ride, but I feel like I am in training for something.. I just don't know what. I would like yo run 5K in the next few months. But I need something else to work towards... my town doesn't have a rec center, swimming pool or anything that I am sign up for so I am feeling a little lost!

4/7 Eat 3-5 servings of fruit and veggies
4/7 serving of soybeans, legumes, etc
4/7 half hour workoout
4/7 10 glasses of water

That's awesome that you are jumping in so strongly! Are you looking for another cardio goal or something that has to do with the strength side?

If you have the goal of a 5K, you could also train for a mudrun. They tend to be 3-5 miles with obstacles in them. That way you don't only focus on being able to run, but you have a focus for strength training as well.

The baby is adorable. I have a 5 month old greatgranddaughter and she came over for the week-end with her parents. I couldn't hold her enough but my granddaughter has got to start working out. I like you realistic goals. Wishing you the best for 2011.

Time to reconnect with the Sparkworld!

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Ok, so I have been MIA the past few weeks and it's time to get back on track. I was almost healed completely from giving birth and I had a massive backtrack so now I am just waiting for my blood tests results to see if my body is fighting an infection and then find out what else we can do. Other than that I am feeling pretty good. Tired, Paige likes to nurse for the better part of the night so sleep has been sparse but I was prepared for that. My two year old has gotten a lot better, still the master of the dramatic hissy fit if she feels she is competing for attention. DH is still in camp 5 days a week but we are managing. I am realizing that I may be frazzled at the end of day but the hardest part about DH being gone is watching him try and bond with baby when he is back. He gets so panicked when she fusses and then quickly hands her back. I am so desperate for some rest by the time he gets home on the weekends but I spend the whole time feeling like I am chasing him with this baby. I realize it will take time and I can't force it but every time he gets home she is one week older and they change so quickly I just don't want him to look back in a few months and realize how much he missed out on. So I guess we will see what happens.

I have started working out again, I had started a week ago but had to stop for a couple days when I had some complications. I got in a quick circuit training session and some yoga. I am sore today which feels great! Haha.. I have about 7lbs to go before I am at my prepregnancy weight but that weight was still 20+ pounds over where I wanted to be so I have a ways to go.

I hope you are feeling better soon :) It is very tough with a tight schedule but in time they will bond. I hope the weekends start to get easier for you and he gets more confident so you can get some rest!
I was 20lbs above where I should have been when I got pregnant too so I will be looking to lose weight no matter how much of this pregnancy weight I drop :) I am excited to have a focus once baby is here.
I hope you get time to rest and your sweet baby starts to sleep more at night!
Take care of you! And I know what you mean about the 2 yr olds. Aren't they great HAHA I am hoping my 2yr old will be good when his brother gets here but I have a feeling he will return to some of his wonderful habits.... screaming, temper tantrums, oh and he just started throwing things... how fun sigh

it took time with DH too..he almost had a heart attack when I asked him one night to feed with a bottle...he got all defensive and then later on apologized and told me he was scared cuz he had never done it before...so at least he told me why he was freaking out! but he's feeding him and changing him like a pro now and knows that he isnt as fragile as he seems! it only took a couple of months LOL :) SO happy to hear you are doing well! xoxox

    You are doing great!

Also, the more time DH spends with her (which is hard now) the easier it will be. DH has been very good, but I was worried in the beginning because he rarely holds our nephews. But the more time he spent, the more comfortable he got! Some things just take a little time! :)

179-80/180 Complete!

Monday, November 29, 2010

124/120 ST sessions (103% complete)
90/90 Yoga session ( 100% complete)
1840/1800 cups water (102% complete)
202/200 km walked (101% complete)
10/10 units completed (100% complete)

Ya!! I had such a rough start to this deadline but I told myself I wasn't allowed any do overs, restarts or Day 1's so I just kept going... I am very proud of myself, aside from the horrible exam at the end! So now its time for the scale to move in the other direction! As of right now I have 10lbs to get back to my prepregnancy weight, healing from the delivery was going really well but I over did it on the weekend and was set back a bit, so I am going to take it easy for awhile and start slowly getting back into things in the coming weeks.
