A Mother"s Proud Moment

On friday evening my daughter graduated from the Chicago High School Of Agricultural Sciences. She had been in catholic School for eight years and my husband had been laid off and we knew we couldn't afford catholic High School so she just figured she was gonna go to the neighborhood school, but we had applied to the agricultural school and she was accepted, and she wasn't happy about going to a school with a farm on it with all kinds of animals there and she met Dr. White and Dr. White saw the love and gentleness she has with all animals and told her she should think about being a Veternarian , well she graduated with a 3.9693 gpa and going to the university of illinois in Urbana for Veternarian. Hopefully she doesn't change her mind. emoticon

    I'm sorry I missed this blog before, Michelle! That's wonderful news! I agree with the other comment that life has a way of steering us to where we should be. With those kinds of grades and her love for animals, veterinary medicine might be the perfect career for her!

No Meat

Today is day 33 for me not eating any meat, I am down fourteen pounds and I feel great. the only problem I am in need of some more ideas for cooking vegetables. the month of january I lived on salad, spinach and bell peppers and corn and bean burritos and water, please give me some ideas some I can make it through march.

    I like lentils mixed in with some veggies and brown rice, it's pretty filling.

    Try adding nuts to your diet. Almounds are very good.They are suppose to help with weight loss and bursting with minerals.
They have B and E vitamins and studies have showen to lower " bad" LDL cholesteral and lower BP.

    emoticon I am a no meat eater but I do eat fish. I eat alot of beans, brown rice, and veggie/soy chicken and veggie burgers. You have really done well with your weigh loss. Are you exercising and how much time a week do you exercise? Keep up the good work. I am doing the same.

At the end of December, I decided to give up all meats and only do fruits and veggies for two months,well today is my last day,and about three days into this I was ready to quit, My co-workers would always say a little piece won't hurt you,they would sit pizza and chicken on my desk,i would take it back to them and thank them for their kindness,but let them know that I was serious about what I was doing. So at the end of my journey i have lost twenty five pounds and i really feel good about myself, I know this is a small accomplishment, but i didn't give up like I have sooo many times before. I don't know if I will stay totally meat free,but I do know I won't be eating it as much as I use to.

I think it s a great accomplishment. Do not belittle what you have done. You set your mind to do something and you had the strength and determination to reach your goal...regardless of what or who was around you. That is something to be proud over. CONGRATS on your weight loss, that is probably the icing on the cake.

I've reached a small obstacle in my weight loss journey. For the last two months I haven't been able to drop an ounce of weight no matter what I try, I am at my wits end. I have tried everything, even started all over again from the beginning, NOTHING has happen! So I have decided to try a personal trainer for two weeks and see if anything happens. any suggestions from my fellow sparkers would greatly be appreciated. mickey emoticon

    Hey MickeyD; Help is exactly how i feel, all i can say is hang in there and don't give up RENA1965 gave some really good suggestions. Me myself have been having a really hard to lately trying to keep this weight issue together, but even though i have not been very active on SP a lot i still try and continue to work on my weight loss even though i am not doing as well as i had been previously i am not giving up. I just keep the faith and i believe that a better day will come as long as i keep trudging along. So try to stay motivate, keep the faith, and don't give up and know that "ALL THNGS ARE POSSIBLE FOR HE THAT BELIEVES"! Take care and hang in there!

    Hi Mickeyd4,
Try to vary what you eat all the time, our we have our favourite or comfortable food zones and the body gets used to them and thinks it doesn't have to work as hard.. Eat stuff you wouldn't normally eat and see if this shocks your stomach into action. Also remove as many processed foods as you can, make as many meals at home avoiding eating out.. Food junks advertising healthy will do anything to get us to part with our money, the only way to shed fat is to make food from the base up and decide what we put in it.. Exercise try to work "just" past comfortable, work up a good sweat. Kind regards Rena.. P.S. put up your nutrition page, and ask several people you trust to look it over for things you can change. We are many times blind to many small mistakes that make a no go on the scales..

Today I actually went to the health club, today and done two hours there.For the first time in eleven months I've just let them take money out of my account and I didn't seem to mind, I've been doing my exercise outside, walking jumping rope and skating. but this morning I got up this morning to go walking, the airy Chicago wind hit me and walk straight to the car and went to the gym.

    I understand. I hate paying for stuff I'm not using, especially when I know it can help me. What kind of exercises do you do? Are you still going to the gym?

    Way to go!!! I have been enrolled in the gym since March and I have not gone since July, my thing is that I do get motivated but when I hit the gym at tend to feel a bit discouraged, but you what I have to face my fear and get my behind to the gym, heck they are taking $25 a month out of my bank account (although I was able to cancel anytime)lol!! Anyway I will be going tomorrow, since my son broke my treadmill :(, wish me luck.

    Good for you girl!!! yeah .... i like exercising outside too... but for the winter-it's good to have a gym membership.... and mine is only $11 a month so it's not so hard on my pockets. Use the elliptical!!!
