Hopeful

Monday, April 05, 2010

In a quiet moment today, it came to light that really, really, for real, the only person that I can change is myself. The only attitude I have any control over is my own.
This means taking care of myself so I am better able to handle mental and physical stress.
This means asking for help because I don't have to carry the burden all on my own.
This means taking the high road and not jabbing back at people who lash out. This means eating my veggies with my protein and carbs because cookies are not a meal or a vegetable. :)
This means taking time to be quiet and meditate, because some messages cannot be heard unless I allow space in my day.
I allowed some space into my day and hope hopped in.
Here's to more hops!

downer day

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Family happenings are a downer. It's hard being single with no one to pick up the slack...can't just pick up and leave and "do my part." I'm sure it'll all work out, but it's a downer. All the more reason to take care of myself so I can be better prepared to take care of life.

Side Note: Whopper earthquake in Mexicali....6.9 Can't believe it felt so strong here! No damage - just rattled nerves. Can't imagine what it felt like further south. Hope the damage was minimal in Mexicali.

Thanks for the encouraging words! I basically have to suck it up and just do it! Challenges just help me to be a little more creative, whether I want to be or not. It would be way harder if I was burying my woes in bad habits. That's a bonus I didn't expect to get out of Spark. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

biggest loser

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

I've only started watching "The Biggest Loser" this season. What an inspiration those people are! They're so brave to be putting it out on National TV. When O'Neil walked up the stairs....wow....what an awesome moment. Here's to all of us! Let's do it! emoticon emoticon

I HAVE A HARD TIME GETTING MOTIVATED TO EXCERCISE, BUT IT SEEMS EVERY TUESDAY AT 8:00 I AM WORKING RIGHT ALONG WITH THEM. I GET THIS "IF THEY CAN, I CAN" ATTITUDE AND I SAIL RIGHT THROUGH. ITS THE ONLY SHOW THAT I WILL MAKE PLANS AROUND....LOL

I think I can...

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Did the C25K W4D1 workout today....slow as a turtle, but that's okay. I'll see how the knees do tomorrow going up the stairs at work. :) Thank goodness for my puppy, Lucky, so I can take him for a walk and get warmed up. He's always smiling and ready to go! A great motivator! Here's to a great week!

My daughter has a little terrier that takes us for a walk - she's only a year and a half (the dog, not my daughter LOL). And we have an 11 year old Rottweiller I call stop and sniff. Not much of a workout there. Plus she has bad hips so we don't take her out much. Doggies are fun.

Whi-Knees

Sunday, March 28, 2010

I'm whining today because I can't seem to get past my recurring knee pain. I was doing the Jillian Michaels workout DVD, but all the knee bends were killing me. I could barely make it up the stairs at work. I actually had to use the elevator one day!
I'm doing the C25K program, but knee (as well as back and hip pain) are great de-motivators to continuing. I'm taking joint supplements, stretching, yadda.....maybe I need to adjust my pace more? Could I go any slower?! ugh!
At least I can still walk - yay! I will try to add in some yoga...maybe the additional flexibility will help. i think i can. i think i can.

Thanks for this blog. I have neck and back issues which have stifled my fitness goals, I couldn't lift my purse with out pain at one point. So, I know what it is like to have pain as an obstacle. For a while I wouldnt do anything at all...in-order to avoid the pain. Now I try to do as much as I can, I actually make an effort. And yeah, it hurts :( but it could be so much worse.

"I think I can, I think I can"...that's the spirit!
