emoticon Well two things I've done this month are things I haven't done in so many years I can't remember the last time. A couple of weeks ago I played tennis with DH.

Today I played racketball with my BFF for 45 minutes. I couldn't have done that 80 lbs ago. She is slightly injured due to a fall, so I tried running all around chasing the ball so she wouldn't have to. For the fun of it we tried playing left handed for about 15 minutes just to do a brain challenge. We got a lot of laughs out of that.

From time to time I post pics of new food things that I'm trying. Here are a few ideas:

I've been trying to find new snack ideas that have carbs, protein, healthy fats. One orange sliced and a 100 calorie pack of walnuts and almonds was a recent choice.

After racketball today it was 1 cup watermelon, 1/2 of a 110 calorie bagel topped with a 35 cal lite laughing cow swiss cheese.

We're trying alot of Laughing Cow products lately. I used the lite garlic and herb one tonight. Dinner was a 100 calorie sandwhich thin, laughing cow, sliced ham, lettuce, and roasted red bell pepper with 1 cup dark sweet cherries.

All three of these are 35 calories with only 10 calories from fat. I use them now instead of mayo on most sandwiches. My other go to things are hummus and avocados. If I do use mayo now it's the one that has olive oil in it.

I'm reading the brand new issue of Clean Eating magazine tonight and getting some new ideas for August. What are some of your favorite snacks?

I love to see what other people eat because I always learn something new from them. Never knew Laughing Cow had spreads, just ice cream!!! That's new for me and now I'm going to look for it!

Sounds like you had a great time with tennis, and racketball! I'm left handed so if I was playing I would have won that one!!! (hehe) just kidding!

Virtual Trip Uodate

emoticon For those of you who haven't read one of my blogs about my virtual trip, I'm tracking my mileage to Forks, WA to see my favorite vampire. Can you guess which one by my background? LOL

I'm now up to 419 miles. This week's additions come mostly from biking, but there was a 1/2 mile warmup on the rowing machine before weights the other night. I've been throwing in some alternatives to just spinning lately.

emoticon I've added some new songs to my playlist...Taio Cruz - dynamite is one of my favs when I'm riding now. I also like Misery by Maroon 5. That's a good one to ride hills to.

emoticon I met four of my sorority sisters for dinner last night. I hadn't seen them in 25 years. One is here from Turkey so we all got together through connections on FaceBook. I was happy to walk in being only 10 lbs from my college weight. Yeah SP! One actually commented on how I looked in my jeans...yeah these are the ones I took from my daughter. Thinking those thoughts is when I listen to another song that gets me going on the bike... Sexy Chick (feat. Akon) by David Guetta.

My dinner tonight after my spinning class... whole wheat tortilla, 1 serving reduced fat mexican cheese, sauteed black beans, onions, mushrooms, and jalepenos all topped by a little Greek Yogurt. Veggie Quesadilla...........mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!

Who has a great meatless dinner to share? Not that I'm going vegetarian but I do a couple nights a week.

    I like to run to the Glee soundtrack! I'm just tracking mile for mile that I run or walk and using 15 min of exercise as a mile. It's going to take me a long time to get to Forks. Did you get my mail the other day on how to make the map?

    I love Taio Cruz. We listen to the album in the car all the time. We also love Lady Gaga. I find her songs really get me going. Love your progress. Since I am running instead of biking, I am going much, much slower than you are. I have sort of given up on my journey right now since my focus is training for the 10k and maybe even a half marathon.

Red Letter Day

Today was a great day for me on my spark journey. I'm going to show you an old picture. I started losing weight two years ago and started out at 256. I have no idea if that was my highest, I didn't go near a scale. Here's what I looked like then.

Today I was actually able to zip up a pair of my daughter's Miss Me jeans. This means that I could in theory go in Buckle and jeans shop with my junior:

I weighed in this morning at 175.4. I believe that I am down 5 pants sizes now. So I texted my trainer who I have called Mr. Squat Police and now Mr. Swevil (sweet and evil) and complained about to no end and told him I wouldn't call him names anymore. From now on it's just Mitchell. :) He never really cared about the names or the whining. He still made me do the workout.

So what am I doing? Clean Eating diet (www.cleaneatingmag.com) Love that I have learned good habits through tracking on SP! Here are a couple of pics of tihngs I've eaten lately that I really liked:

Fresh spinach, 1 cup mixed fresh berries, 1 T sliced almonds and Newman's Own Light Balsalmic Vinagrette

Grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, and 1 medium ear grilled corn taken off the cob and topped with small amount of light butter.

1/2 grapefruit, whole wheat tortilla with homemade shriimp salad.

Eating healthy doesn't have to be boring. DH and I go to IHOP sometimes on the weekend. The healthy option spinach, mushroom, tomato omelette with fruit comes in at 350 calories

Today's workout was 10 mins rowing machine for warmup, 70 mins weights and foam roller stretching, 20 mins spinning and then 1/4 mile walk home.

I'm planning my week now for success so that I can break past 175 and raid my daughter's closet again sometime! Keep sparking!

    Wow, I can't believe how much the same we look in your before picture!
Now seeing you now picture has really given me hope that someday I can look as good as you do now! It's amazing to see before and afters!
Love all the pics. you took of your meals! Thank you for doing that because I'm more of a visual person and to see the amount on you plate is a lot different than mine! I need to get back into portion control, or weighing my foods again.

Success is....

Today success for me was not going out for Mexican and Margaritas after an exceptionally stressful afternoon.

If I had to name my one temptation above all others it is M&M. I've got two restaurants that I hit with friends when the temptation overwhelms. One is called Abuelos and they have an awesome frozen margarita and Sangria blend. Throw in chips, salsa, chille rellenos, and a to freaking die for piece of Dulce De Leche cheesecake and I have consumed more calories in one meal that I usually do in two days, and more salt and sugar than I care to calculate.

My other go to vice is a place called Luna De Noche. The margaritas there are so incredibly good that I renamed the restaurant to Cavern Of Sin. :) I don't really care what I eat there because after one of their drinks you really just don't care.

Today after work was one of those days where previously I would have said that's it..the stress won and call a friend and say meet me for M&M right now. I have a couple who would drop it all and go if I made that call.

It was all ironic and funny in the grand scheme of life today because my status earlier today said "I'm enjoying life...stress go away you won't win!". At the time there wasn't really stress and I was just in a good mood. When the stress really poured on later I thought about that.

I drove home and changed and DH and I went to the gym. I did 15 mins on the treadmill for warmup, 55 mins of weights, 15 mins spinning speed and hill drills and then 25 mins in the sauna. I sat in the sauna until I knew I could make it home without the M&M.

There is a place I could get 3rd place margaritas 2 blocks from my house. Now it sounds like I drink all the time. I don't but when I do I usually gain 4-5 pounds and then have to fight it back off again. So when I do go out and break the bank on calories that is it for me!

So my success was not giving in to the all too easy diversion of food/drinks in an effort to ease emotional pain. The working out was better and in the morning when I wake up there will be no regrets when I step on the scale. No matter what it says I will be a winner for choices I made today.

    Oh, my greatest weakness is Manhattens... just switching to wine when I decide to indulge has made a difference... that, and water!!

This is a post just so I remember this.... my son walked by tonight and did a double take and said wow mom you look skinny. That has never happened that I remember. he's 18 and the last time I was skinny he was 6.

Makes two years of working out and trying to eat right worth it.
