I am not blogging enough

Saturday, May 07, 2011

No pictures. I have a camera phone but have not learned how to put the pictures on my computer. I do not want to pay the 40 dollars to have the computer on my phone.
I had it on in error and am in trauma about paying for something I did not want.
I should have gotten a simpler phone. but ... you know how those sales guys talk you into things. Why me?

Last week I forgot

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Last weekend I spent Easter with my sister and son and their families.
It was tons of fun and I cannot wait to do it again.
Hubby is anxious about cataract surgery next month but looking forward to seeing better without the aid of glasses.
I have been suffering from colds and allergies and have not been out and about as much but ... I am resolved to get out this week either at the Mall or Maidu.
It is there for me to enjoy.

Walk at Maidu

Saturday, April 16, 2011

No I did not get a picture but..... Martha, Mary, Vivian, Lynne and I walked together at Maidu. We walked the longer path around the park but Lynn and Vivian had some other business to attend. So the rest of us did the smaller lap inside the park. Come join us Saturday, May 21st at 9:00 to 9:30 Behind the library. We will be separating into faster and slower walkers.
There is another walking group also every day at Maidu at 9:00 am. They meet by the Memorial Rose Garden. So no excuses Roseville Sparkies.
Please join us next time.

The first lap was 2.63 miles in one hour. the next got us to 2.95 in another half hour.
But we are were walking at our own paces.

It was a good walk (I thought it was only 2 miles) but more is better and I had my camera, I don't know why I didn't take a picture.
I made it to the farmers market to get some fresh produce after the walk and feel the morning was well spent. I hope I didn't hold anybody back. Mary has REALLY long legs.

Time to get serious

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

Two months ago I went and walked with my Spark friends. We were a small group but it was wonderful to be able to meet the people we talk to on line. I have missed the event the last two months.. Once because I had other plans but last month because I have been tired.
I found an article in the newspaper today about the cholesterol lowering drug I am taking.
It turns out the side effects are possible joint discomfort and tiredness.
Golly if I can have the help with my cholesterol, and the only result is a little tiredness, it is a good tradeoff. I just have to start going to bed one half hour earlier, to start.
I have been off meat and poultry since Ash Wednesday. I am really thinking about going vegetarian. I am less hungry and have less stomach upsets. I diet one day at a time so ...I will just not worry about tomorrow and just do my food plan and exercise today....
Boy I am the queen of the run on sentence. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Have you tried not eating meat and poultry?

emoticonI don't eat much beef but do like fish and chicken --I like veggies but don't care to become just a veggie eater

Moderation would be the key for me--sounds simple --I am working on it. emoticon

I was vegetarian for 10 years starting in college, then gave in one day in the face of the best Carne Asada burrito I've ever had. Since then I've tried to incorporate meatless days into the week, we're up to 3 or 4 days a week, and the kids don't even mind!

I have been on Lipitor for high cholesterol for about 3-4 years now. My last blood test the doctor said my numbers looked really good and if I can keep up the exercise every week for at least 3 months, he will take me off the pills! So diet and exercise, and a good night's sleep really makes a difference!
I missed the last meet up also. I hope we can both make the next one:)

I rarely eat beef, but I do enjoy turkey and chicken and fish. From time to time I will enjoy some very lean pork..
Cholesterol numbers.... yah I know what you mean. I am waiting this morning for the results of my blood work yesterday. I hope they are good. I do not take statins but sometimes I am still TIRED. I guess mainly it is boredom from being in the house so darn much during all this rainy weather we have had. I'll feel better NOW that it is SPRING.

Thanks, yes - it IS TIME TO GET SERIOUS. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Things keep happening

Sunday, April 03, 2011

What a difference ten years can make. I cannot believe my aunt and my mother looks so much healthier. Oh well. I do not want to go back and visit because it just hurts too much and I cannot believe that my sister and brother deal with the changes every day.
Living far away means all I can do is pray that mom will be comfortable on this last part of her journey. Sorry for the sad post but....

It is unbelievable what a difference 10, or even just a few, years can make.
Sorry it's so painful right now for you.

Thank you so much for sharing this part of your life. They do look healthier than the 'before' picture. And I guess you are right about not wanting to go back for a visit. Better to enjoy the pictures and say the prayers.
