Really trying hard

Saturday, May 03, 2014

It's not easy to defeat the temptations from eating junk food. I went to Down Home Days today, which is a festival type event that had a lot of tempting food just waiting to be eaten. However I did not eat anything there. I made it until I got home and made lunch instead. It was really good. So glad I waited. I enjoyed the walk but did get a little sun burned. I'll be okay because I did great!

That is great! I hate when I have to go to places that tempt me with delicious food. But it is awesome that you passed and waited for lunch at home instead. emoticon

My mom and I often do that. We will go to a big flea market or fair with lots of food stands and we won't eat anything there but will later to go a restaurant we like and eat there.
I remember we once told the person at the restaurant we didn't like the food stands so we came there-they were shocked.

I'm working on eating better myself this month. (been slacking pretty badly) and it's awesome that you can not be tempted by all the yummy stuff at fairs! I'm already dreading all the food at the state fair we go to every year. lol

DAY 2 + DAY 3 SPARK STREAK

Monday, March 10, 2014

Day 2 my daughter and I walked a total of thirty minutes at the same track location. Having a good conversation and listening to some really good tunes.

Day 3-I just got off work and I am waiting on my daughter to get home from school so I can go walking with her again. Same thing, we will walk for 30 minutes and go from there. Hopefully soon I will be adding in some strength training.

I will return later to update progress. :)

A little bit more...Just another step

Monday, June 17, 2013

My daughter and I have been to Cloudland Canyon State Park, GA twice this year. At the beginning of the month we were wore out with the hike we took. The photo you see here is one of us going back up the many steps it takes to get back up the side of the canyon. We were on a break. We decided to take a photo and we always take one that is crazy and fun. I have had a great time with her each time we go.

Last year I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. After the doctor said that they stated I needed more exercise. So we went to the canyon, lol we have gone every year. However, last year was rough because I was out of shape, having blood pressure problems, and was dumb enough to not pack enough supplies. I didn't think the trail was that long. We only did about 3 miles and that includes going down the side of the canyon and down this trail to see waterfalls. It also counts when you go back so that is an additional 3 miles. I was ready to call life support and just ask them if they would come and get me with the helicopter.

This year...
I have had more energy because I have been slowly working my way back to gaining my strength back since my accident from work. We have been twice although the second time we took the trail down the side of the canyon and I say every time I won't do this again. My daughter laughs and says, "Yes you will." So the above picture is when we were half way up. We only did 5 miles total but it felt amazing!

I look forward to next year.

Just a little bit further.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

It has been a while since I posted a blog here and really updated information. I always say my life is hectic and busy. Who's isn't these days? My daughter and I are involved in many activities and they are good ones, but it can feel so overwhelming at times. So I need a breather.
I have stepped away from my website business since I started working full time at my new job and we also moved to a new home. We have to get settled. I still haven't filed paperwork.
I got lazy.

Then the other day I was sitting at work and I was just wondering why am I like this. I never was this way before. My daughter got sick at school and I had to get her and take her to the doctor. While we were waiting I scheduled an appointment with my doctor so I can hopefully get refills on my prescriptions for my high blood pressure. Luckily they had a cancellation which caused me to go ahead and use that day instead of taking another day off from work. When I saw my doctor she yelled at me, well sort of. She raised her voice. I had been going two weeks without my medication. I know it is wrong and I shouldn't have done it. With starting a new job and time conflicting schedules I could not make an appointment. So I was blessed to have that opportunity. My blood pressure reading was at a really high level enough for a stroke.

Hypertension runs in my family. I remember when I was younger my mother started having a lot of trouble with hers when she was my age. I am not ashamed, I am 33 years old. I plan to stay educated and teach my daughter the importance of all this. I do not like it but I can overcome it.

I will be adopting new habits. Eating healthy and exercising is two habits I will be taking on. If I have to cut some activities out then so be it. It will save me in the long run. We all live crazy hectic lives. We are the ones who decide our schedules, so why not schedule time for ourselves?

I know I will.
