Huge Flowers for Mom in Mexico

Friday, May 07, 2010

My sister who lives in Pennsylvania did FTD to send my Mother an arrangement here in Ajijic Mexico. Mom lives down in the village here. Anyway, I had to post a photo since I thought it was so funny to see how huge the arrangement is. Money really goes a long way on somethings down here and for sure it's flowers. But they are beautiful and my Mother did so appreciate it. I will take her out to one of the many wonderful restaurants down here on Sunday and we will have a gourmet meal with drinks for somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 pesos, which is roughly $28 US dollars. Another wonderful thing here in Ajijic Mexico!
Happy Mother's Day in advance to all you Mothers.

Warm in central Mexico

Thursday, May 06, 2010

Sure wish that our construction job were finished and I could be sitting by the pool. Oh well about another 2 months and then it should be done. This is our warm season for Ajijic. but not too uncomfortable...no need for air conditioning as even at 85 it is not humid. We simply turn on the overhead fans and get a breeze...plus since we are at 6500 elevation up over the village we get a breeze off the lake. So no complaining here. We will enjoy.

Rain Birds are a singing in Mexico

Wednesday, May 05, 2010

We have what locals call rain birds. they are locust that come up out of the ground once a year and make noise to find their mates. Locals here predict when the rainy season will start by when you begin to hear the rain birds. They say that it is six weeks after you hear the first rain bird. So in six weeks our rainy season should start. Now when I say rainy season what that means is that it is sunny and beautiful all day and then at night the sky lights up with lighting over the lake and mountains and it rains at night. It is such a wonderful time of year....can't wait.
