Tummy so much better today

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Yep, I think it was the overindulgence of the papaya. It was so tasted that I didn't want to waste it so I gave our handyman the rest and he said he really enjoyed it. So that made me feel good.
Gosh this is an emotional week for me. I am turning the big 60 on Saturday so I am counting down my final days in my 50's. this is the first birthday where I am thinking........."gosh, you are getting older". But I have so many blessing to count and will continue to count them. I live where it is normally warm and lovely, I got to retire early, I have a DH, I have two adorable kitties, two cute grandkids, and now I am for the most part healthy! There are so many more things I can count as well. So I will face the big 60 with a smile on my face. I do think back and wonder where the time has gone. It does pass so quickly.
Hope all my sparks buddies are having a great day.
Sallie

Happy birthday, Sallie!! And the numbers are just that - a number - not an indication of your 'real age.' I've known people in their 50s who were 'older' than others I've known in their 80s so it's more an attitude than an actual number. Enjoy it!!

Those milestone birthday can be so hard! Age is only a number - if you didn't know your birthday, how old would you be???
For me that is 25 on a good day, 35 most days and 100 on a bad day LOL

I have never had a papaya, I should. It sounds like I might be missing something.

If I were you I would not give it a second thought about turning sixty, like you said you are truly blessed in you life and you have a long, long life ahead of you. Plus you look great !

So glad to hear you are feeling better. It is a good way to start the day off counting your blessings that way Sallie. I know it is what gets me through a lot my tough days. Thank you for commenting on blog this am! I also enjoy tracking my foods and don't think of it as a to do. I know it is the only way for me to get my self back under control because last year I had completely lost control and gained weight for the first time in my life. I know once I do reach my goal it will not be as necessary but I like doing it.
Enjoy your last days of the 50s as you prepare for the next great decade of your life. I am sure you will continue to feel just as young as you do now. emoticon

Tummy troubles

Monday, February 20, 2012

I have been having tummy troubles. Hate when that happens. I am trying to figure out what is going on. Maybe too much fiber. Not fun though when you just don't feel right. I think I am not sleeping well because of my upset stomach. Anyway going to go less fiber today which is sad as I just bought one of the most delicious papayas. Maybe that is the problem....I had two cups of it last night around 7:30. So going to go light on it today...........actually not going to eat any of it.
Hope all my sparks buddies are doing well.
Have a terrific week
Sallie

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well today Sallie. You should freeze your papaya and then make smoothies with it later ; )! There is a smoothie my family and I love making with papaya strawberries apples oatmeal and a little orange juice.

Use the old fashioned method - get some crackers out, any ole kind and eat 2-3,maybe with some peanut butter as your snack today. Remember our mommas had the right idea when they told us good old fashioned saltines would calm our tummies. Good luck and sure hope you feel better soon. Take care - KD

I'd say go ahead and eat it (papaya) just 1/2 cup at a time as a portion, spread it out, 2 cups at one time is a bit much (unless you're constipated and trying to get the works moving)

Happy Sunday!

Sunday, February 19, 2012

I am guessing that some of you in the states have tomorrow off so you will have a long week end. Enjoy!
My DH and I are going to walk the dogs today their 3.5 miles and then head off to Costco in Guadalajara. It's a different experience than going to a Costco in the states. The many of the products are different...lots of beans and rice. But you can still get simalar things like bulk paper towels, TP, and such so it's worth it. And their meat products are good.
Hope all my sparks buddies have a good day.
Sallie

The Costco in Hermosillo hasn't had any Tillamook sharp cheddar for the last month or so :( My friend looks for it for me every time she goes, no luck so far.

PS When I went with my friend to the Costco in Hermosillo, they even had books in english for around 100 pesos each!

Sharing sunrise over Ajijic, Mexico

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Beautiful sunrise this morning. Had to share. Feeling great great today as the sun is shinning and I had a great light food day yesterday as well as lots of steps on my pedometer. I just love waking up when I have had a good day the day before. The scale was also nice to me and 2 pounds of the water weight from eating out were gone. Woo hoo! Going to keep on keeping it light until I go out for birthday lunch with Mom on Friday and Birthday dinner on Saturday.
Hope all my sparks buddies are doing great. Have a terrific week end.

The sun is out a bit today

Friday, February 17, 2012

what a difference it makes to have the sun out a bit. I just feel so much more energized. It's also easier to stay away from those "comfort" foods that you want to eat when cold and cloudy. After all the eating out as expected I am up in weight and what's even harder is that the junk food is in my system and now I crave it. So funny how that works. When I don't eat the sugar and salt I don't crave it as much. I actually crave good foods when I am eating right. So it will take a couple of days of not eating sugar and salt to get back to not craving them. That will be just in time for me to go out to eat again on Friday next week with Mom for my 60th birthday and then again out for diner on Saturday night which is my real birthday. Can't believe I am going to turn the big 60!!!! Somehow now I don't feel "middle aged" anymore. I keep trying to tell myself that it is just a number but this birthday feels a little bit like a bummer.
But I am thankful that I am healthy..............now I am just going to give myself permission to be that slightly eccentric "older gal" that I always envisioned I would be.
Hope all my sparks buddies are doing just great.
Have a terrific day and wonderful week end.
Sallie

Well, I still have a couple of years left to get there. But if I look even half as good as you do, I will be very happy. I am finally learning the importance of eating healthy everyday. It takes a long time to learn good habits, it only taks a few minutes to tear it all down.
By the way: Happy Birthday you 25 year old you!

You are beautiful Sallie! And yes, sunshine is wonderfully healing and my days feel much more energetic as well. It's interesting to me because in MN we never ever had this much sunshine of course...and when the sun came out it was "hurry up and enjoy the day" because there would probably be a blizzard or something arriving the next day! But here...living here for the winter, nearly every single day is sunny! yet, we've had a streak of very cold cloudy weather, down in the low 50's at night and 66-67 in the day. Once the sun is going down...wow does it get cold. I hope you have a fantastic birthday next week and that the sun is coming up again over there TODAY!! emoticon
