Great Valentine's Day

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Ate too much but will be back on track tomorrow. I guess it's okay cause I am at goal weight, actually a pound or two under....but this is the lesson I have learned and that is that I can splurge on a meal and know that I will get right back to eating healthy tomorrow. Oh, and I did exercise today before I went out to eat.

Well that is what the rest of us need to learn from while we struggle to reach our goal weight. How to behave when we reach it. Thank you for sharing.

FTD flowers even in Mexico!

Saturday, February 13, 2010

My sister who lives in Pennsylvania called a florist and ordered a beautiful flower arrangement for me as an early birthday gift. I will be away on my actual birthday as my husband is taking me to the beach for a week. I was surprised when a Mexican gal called me on the phone and wanted to know how to find our house way up on the mountain....so I gave her the best directions I could in my "Spanglish" and low and behold a taxi driver came up the mountain and deliverd a beautiful arrangement. See below. Anyway I guess anything is possible.

Kitties bring such joy!

Friday, February 12, 2010

I wanted chocolate but looked across the room and there was one of my sweet kitties, Lancelot. I went and sat with him and petted him and he purred and loved me and I forgot about the chocolate. It's so nice to have that sweet loving.

    Hi Mexgal!

My name is Pat and I live in northern Indiana. I've recently started back on the sparkpeople plan to regain some health.

I have 4 feline family members. I call them my little furry antidepressants:) My profile picture is my oldest cat, Kitty. She's my only female and she's the Queen around here. My other cats are Frankie, a 6-yr old orange colored tabby; Pretty Boy, a 6-yr old tabby/white cat, and Porch Kat, another tabby/white that was a stray that we fed and when we moved we brought him with us.

I can't imagine life without my feline family.

Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing.

Pat

I think we found a great condo for Mom

Thursday, February 11, 2010

My Mother who lives here in Mexico near us sold her really big house. She listed it and sold it in a week. That was good news. Her house was just way to big for her to manage at age 83. So the next step was to find a nice rental for her to live in so it would be someone else's responsibility to take care of things. Well today we scored big and found a lovely furnished condo within walking distance to the village. It is so nice to know that my mother will have a nice place to move to with little to take care of. Yeah!

Confession

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Yesterday my husband wanted to go out for BBQ ribs at one of our favorite restaurants down here in Mexico. I am at goal weight so I thought okay, I can eat small portions. So I ordered the ribs and a Negro Modelo my fav beer. The ribs came with a small baked potato with butter. I ate about 5 ribs(they weren't that big) drank my beer and had maybe half the small buttered potato. I also had several sips of my husband's margaritas. This place makes the best and they sure make you "happy". Anyway, when we got home about an hour later I was hungry again. The thing is that once you eat the crap food your body craves more crap food and nothing nutritious. I think that you get hungry again sooner because you really haven't eaten anything nutritious and your body is saying "where's the good stuff"..."where's my fiber", etc. So I should have had a nice salad to counter balance the crap, but no........I ate half a tube of really salty saltines and 4 ginger cookies. I did drink a Yakuilt to help me digest the grease from the ribs since I am not used to eating them. But my lesson learned was not to do that too often because my body goes into shock and craves even more bad food. So today will be a new day and I will eat really healthy things to get some vitamins and nutrients back into my body.

I'm always having to monitor the "fuel mix" and try to balance out my intake. I very seldom crave the good stuff the way I do the junk, but I sure feel more satisfied after I've eaten something healthy. Thanks for sharing, it's nice to see I'm not the only one.

It's true how our body craves the good stuff since we're following healthier routines! Great observation and emoticon on seeing it for what it is... an occasional 'treat' that you allow yourself!

We all stray off course from time to time. You learned from your straying and are back on track now. You also know not to do this very often. So you had fun with your hubby, but you also learned a valuable lesson. Well done.
