Things are going pretty well this week. Last week, I weighed in at 15lbs down! This week, I haven't been great about tracking, probably because I had one bad night with some unexpectedly gifted tamales. But otherwise I have been eating what I ought to, and we had another dance party at home last night with the kids and it kicked my butt!! (Well, my core and hip muscles, actually).
Discovered a new shake I like that's made with frozen unsweetened coconut, instant coffee, chocolate pudding mix, Vi shake mix and coconut extract. I'm calling it the Almond Joy Mocha Latte. Really good and only about 250 calories. Today, I'm back on track, tracking my food and I've got to figure out how to beef up my dinner - I'm coming in pretty far under-calories today.
Weigh in will be on Friday or Saturday, whichever day we can get to the mall. We've been using GNC's scale (the one that hollers at you, "Have you checked your weight today?!?" when you walk by). That way we have a consistent scale and a printed record every time we weigh in. Here's to another great week of not giving up and moving forward!

Well, officially week two started yesterday since I started my 90-Day-Challenge on a Saturday. But I'm one of those "the week starts on a Sunday" kinda gals. So, week 2.
I didn't get as much done around the house as I wanted yesterday, but I'm hoping to at least get a few things done today. On the flip side, I got it ALL done on my challenge last week. I did my two shakes a day and walked five times last week for at least 1/2 hour each time. I had to walk by myself yesterday, which was boring compared to walking with my husband, but I basically did a figure-8 around the playground while the kids played. So I did it.
I do want to increase my water this week. That's the plan. 8 glasses of 8oz a day (I don't think I own any cups smaller than 16oz.). I started yesterday and managed to get about 6 1/2, but today, I'm going to try and pace it out a little more so I don't have a near-bladder-bursting situation at 3am again.
Thanks for reading - more to come later!

This weekend, my husband went to St. Louis with his buddy for the Body by Vi conference. I personally HATE crowds - like panic attacks are guaranteed when there is a big wad of people around. So I didn't want to go, plus someone had to stay home with our kiddos! So, I'm kinda bummed, because I actually have the whole weekend off. But. I've got plans.
Today, I got all the dishes done after work and cooked for the kids. I just had a Vi Shape shake, but I'll need to eat something else later because I didn't eat much for lunch. I'm under calories for the day and that's not the way I want to go! Tomorrow, I am going to clean the bathroom and then the kitchen floor. Doing laundry along the way, of course. I'm just ramped up! I want my husband to come home to a SURPRISE! CLEAN HOUSE! That pretty much never happens, so I'm determined.
In the afternoon, when it gets mostly warmish, I'm driving the kids to a park that has a little track around it so I can walk while keeping and eye on them. Today was a no-walking day. I committed to five a week, so tomorrow will be 5. Pretty good so far!
I also need to clean out the car (big task) and I'd like to finally finish unpacking!!! I'll let you know how it goes!

I wanted to wait a week or two before weighing in, but after having a friend tell me she could see my face looked thinner, and with the way my pants were fitting, I had to find out. Turns out, I've lost 7 lbs! Not to shabby for my first six days of the Body by Vi challenge! Only 81 days left, and lots of walking and yummy peanut butter/chocolate shakes ahead!
I need to shake up my lunches though - I'm in a bit of a food rut, mostly because I don't have a lot of time. I've been eating cheese/crackers/turkey and soup every day. It's great weather for the soup and I'm not really bored with it, but that's just a matter of time. Going to cruise around some sites and get some more interesting lunch ideas.
I could not be more exited! We walked AGAIN today (miracles, folks, freaking miracles). Basically, my husband picked me up right after work and we went right to the mall to walk. I was tired, but it still felt good to be active and to chat with my husband after a long day. Doesn't get better than that.

That's right, in the last four days, I've walked with my husband and kids 3 times in the last four days. The first time, we walked to the in-law's house to visit with my kids' great-grandmother. The second, we took a beautiful (if chilly) trip over and back across our town's new bridge. It was such a brisk and sunny day, and it was great talking with my husband (although my 5-year-old was a little whiney about the temperature and the length of the walk).
We visited my in-laws and I was expressing my concerns about our ability to continue walking as the weather turns colder. Oddly, her suggestion never occurred to us: mall walking! Both my husband and I have worked in numerous malls across the country and we've both witnessed the mall-walker crowd in the morning and through the day. Tonight, we went to our local mall and discovered the map on the wall that indicates three laps is 1.175 miles. We walked four, bringing our total to 1.567 miles in 1/2 hour.
In addition to the walking, my husband and I have been using Body by Vi Shape shakes (by Visalus) in the morning and at night, and we've been eating a sensible lunch. We track everything here on Sparkpeople.com and it has helped us ensure we're getting enough calories with a good balance of nutrients. I'm excited about this first 90-day-challenge and what it will mean for our health.
