What a Difference a Week Makes

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

It's amazing what can happen in a week. In a week I've secured a new apartment. A cute little half cottage in the Historic District of my old home town. My friends have come together to make sure I have the basics in furniture. In other words when I move I start completely over again, brand new with very little to remind me of the past few years.

I'm still raw, very hurt and overwhelmed, but life is moving on and so am I.

Best yet, my weight loss and lifestyle changes are on moving forward. No late night binging, no bloat due to salt intake and continued weight loss.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

The title says it all. After a year and a half the incomparable Mr. B is done with our relationship. The past few days have not been great. I left behind or sold most of my property when I made the move to be here with Mr. B. I have no family or friends in close proximity. I do have awesome friends about 120 miles from here and they are my rock right now. So off with the old and on with the new.

Thanks for the support and encouragement. This is indeed a sad, scary and even exciting time in my life. I have learned much about myself in the past year and a half. I knew what I wanted when I got here and those core things have not changed. As I said before off with the old and on with the new. emoticon

Yep, the title is spot on. Breaking up is the pits. Be thankful for the experiences you've had from the relationships you've outgrown and know that something much better is in store for you. emoticon

& maybe you can finally get some quality sleep without Mr. B's late night "electronic interference" emoticon

Update to My Last Entry

Monday, February 25, 2013

After 4 nights of not taking Melatonin I was still awake 40 minutes after going to bed and waking up 2-3 times a night. I can get back to sleep within a few minutes of waking, but the waking up is annoying me.

I have increased my daily activity and exercise. I continue eating as before. My exercise is all done before 1pm in the afternoon, so that shouldn't bet an issue. Worse yet I am getting tired in the middle of the day. I even took a nap Sunday afternoon.

I took a 1mg Melatonin last night (Sunday night) and slept well. I'm calling the doctors office in a few minutes to make an appointment.

In other news, even with staying on the low end of my calorie range all week I gained weight. I just entered stage 2 so the gain should only be temporary, but it's still discouraging.

Feeling Better!

Friday, February 22, 2013

You would think after eating more nutritious meals and snacks and exercising at least 10 minutes a day for nearly 2 weeks I'd be feeling better. But honestly it has been hard to keep my eyes open during the day. I couldn't figure it out. I take a multi-vitamin every day, have a routine bed-time and take a natural sleep aide most nights. Why do I feel so badly?

So I called my mom and aunt, all of us are nurses, and we put our heads together. I have no signs of anemia, my vital signs are great, I'm eating enough calories and my diet is very balanced. The only problem besides being too tired to do anything during the day is that I'm also sleeping more than 8 hours a day and I just don't feel like getting up in the mornings. In fact I'm hitting the snooze button more instead of less these days. So what changed?

Mr B likes to watch tv all night long, even though he now uses his laptop on his bedside table and keeps the volume very low, it still keeps me awake from time to time. I began taking 1mg of Melatonin nightly to help me fall asleep. Recently I increased this to 3mg after the loss of a family member increased my insomnia.

So 2 nights ago I stopped taking Melatonin all together and today I feel great. It did take me about 15 minutes to fall asleep last night so I may need to try something new or go back to the 1mg dose, but by George I think we got it. Don't worry folks if I start having problems again with lethergy I'll go see the doctor.

Feeling better and Louisiana!

I don't think taking 15 minutes to fall asleep is all that bad. If you get a better quality of sleep not taking the pills and feel more rested during the day, I think I would stay off of any sleep aids. Hang in there! HUGS!

It's a horrible feeling to sleep without getting any quality rest or recuperation. I'm glad you discovered the problem and were able to get some relief. emoticon

Weekend at the Lake

Sunday, February 17, 2013

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the Lake with Mr B's brother and hsr family. Even though it was still cool outside the kids played on the 4 wheelers and fished all day. The adults sat in the sun on the porch and the two dogs roamed the wooded lot. Mr B and I managed to stay on track with our eating and I chased the dogs for a little extra exercise. We even worked a few light beers in without going over our calorie targets. Woohoo!
