It wasn't until I took care of a man who had been an Avid Birdwatcher all his life that I really learned about Birds and how different their personalities can be!! He had Late Stage Alzheimer's by the time I met him, but I will never forget all that he and his Daughter taught me about Bird Watching. What a Blessing that you get to Rescue and care for those Magnificent Creatures!!

Awww.. they're adorable! Have you seen the live eaglet web cam in Davenport Iowa? I've seen the nest grow from 1 eaglet to 3 in the past couple of weeks. It's so amazing to watch them grow and being fed by their parents. If you're interested in taking a peak on the eagles' progress, here's the link:

http://www.alcoa.com/locati

Just scroll down on the page and to the right is a place where you click on it and can watch the live web cam. I think it's so neat! Another wonder of God's creations..

Enjoy the new little ones!

NO EXCUSES ! JUST DO IT !

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

Hello to ALL my SPARK FRIENDS and fellow TEAM MATES !
I know, I know you are telling your body that it can sit and still lose the weight and make it to it's goal right? NOT SO ! You are also telling yourself that you can feed your body a little treat here and there and it will not gain weight am I right ? Am I HOT or COLD? So C'MON folks, I have been there and done that ! I was 250 pounds before I joined spark on July 3,2011 and I was miserable to say the least and I did the same thing. I would tell myself that it was alright that I sit that it was alright that I eat the wrong foods and that I would lose the weight eventually ! You know what NOT SO ! When I joined spark on July 3, 2011, my life took a 200 degree turn around and I began to see everything in a whole new light ! I began to see results in the first week and tilL this day, I have NOT gone back !!! I refuse to go back to that way of life ! On January 15, 2012 I reached my goal ! I am now a HEALTHY 124 pounds and I am maintaining this weight for the rest of my life ! Yes I said for the rest of my life ! I know that you CAN do it too my DEAR FRIENDS ! So, GET UP OFF the SOFA, and PUT THE FATTY FOODS DOWN, and GET OUT THERE and GET YOUR BODY MOV'IN and GROV'IN ! I DO NOT want to hear that you are to BUSY ! ( If you think you are to BUSY then you need to take a little WALK in my shoes and come spend a day with ME) !! You CAN'T ! I will start TOMORROW ! It's RAINING TODAY ! There are not any EXCUSES that you can come up with that will sit well with ME !!! I am a wife and a mother to 4 little BLESSINGS and they are the reason that I wake up in the morning ! I am also a Bird Breeder and Trainer ! I am BUSY and I still GET IT DONE ! I know that you CAN do this SO JUST DO IT !! I love you ALL ! ((((( Hugs))))) Rose

Isn't Life Beautiful !

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Hello to all my Dear Friends out there in Sparkworld !
I thought that all of you would enjoy seeing this photo. This is one of our babies in the nursery right now. He is called a Maui Sunset Macaw. He is almost a month old right now and very demanding when it comes to getting fed ! He thinks that he is the boss and that he comes first in the chow line of things !
My youngest daughter is holding him in her lap as she does with all of the babies when they come into the nursery. Before anyone goes into the nursery , the hands have to be washed, hand sanitizer applied, and a gown put on . I have 80 pairs of birds on eggs right now and the nursery is full for the time being. All the other birds are breeding and keeping me busy as well !
well speaking of food, it is time to feed babies and go work out in the aviary. I have to build some nest box's, hose down all aviarys, ( clean ) and feed. Never a dull moment here on the farm ! I hope that all of you enjoyed this ! Hugs, Rose

We used to have a Severe Macaw. Really nice bird until it hit puberty and went nutsy. We gave it to a breeder. He had it sexed and turned out to be a female. Last we heard he had found a male and was trying to breed them. Don't know if he ever had any luck.

Calico's are such affectionate cats...we've had a number of them. Our present calico "adopted" us several years ago. I found her in my car one morning curled up in the seat sleeping. We were looking for a Siamese at the time so I shooed her away.

When I came home there she sat in the driveway waiting for me.

Who could resist? :-)

We have an adopted calico (female). She is NOT 2 pounds and needs to log onto Spark Kittie!

We are special friends. She lived at the cat shelter my wife works at for more than 2 years. She doesn't like people, and will gently bite them, which is why her name is Nibbles! I am not much of a cat person (although we have 4), so it stands to reason that Nibbles and I would become best friends! She jumps up on my lap and purrs for awhile. She wont go near anyone else.

    Dear Uno,

You are indeed unusual and distinguished being a lovely tricolored calico cat. And how fortunate that you found your forever family and are growing up health.

I found my forever family last year at Christmas. I was starving and my hair was falling out. Now I am strong with sleek hair and rippling muscles. I am a very pretty Siamese mix.

Hi. I am Bill, a cat that saved a person. WE have a lot in common. I was an orphan too. Now I have a wonderful family and the job in my life is to sit on my grandma's lap and pelt her with my claws. Don't worry, I am gentle. I have long hair and love to be petted.

A Labor of love on labor day!

Monday, September 05, 2011

Today is a day that I will NEVER forget!
We went to the beach today hoping for a nice, somewhat quite, day. I packed stuff for a barbecue and all of the kids were excited to be able to go and try out their new boogie boards . The surf was really high and very strong! Perfect for this kind of stuff right?
Well all of this came to a screeching halt as we were walking down to the beach. As we were walking, this lady comes towards me and says to me , you see that person out in the water? I looked and way out was this person all I could see was the head and it kept going under and then surfacing again. I sent her for help and I jumped into action! I was able to pull him out and give him the help he needed. He was to tired to swim towards shore and between the waves and the power that they create . The waves would push him towards the shore and then take him back out and he got tired out and couldn't go anymore.
The man is alright Thank you JESUS! And I am whooped! After all of the excitement, he was able to join us all for dinner! We were not going to go to the beach in the beginning. We were going to just stay home and grill and swim in the pool. Thank God that I was in the right place at the right time. Life is so precious! And you never know when you are needed. We have to think the same way about our Spark Friends! We are all so far apart from each other and the only way we will know if one of us needs another is by staying in contact with each other either by spark mail, personal e-mail, or by phone if that's the case.
You ALL are so precious to me and if there is anything you ever need, I am here for YOU! Anytime you all are out and about, please Remember the other guy! always keep your eyes and ears open 'cause you never know when the other guy may need you! I Love you all and I hope you had a blessed holiday and I hope you have a wonderful week! HUGS, Your friend Rose emoticon emoticon emoticon

That's amazing! I used to like to watch Rescue 9ll for just that reason.

My father was a game warden and patroled a lake. My Mom would signal him with an orange towel hung over our porch railing if he needed to come in off the lake for something important.

We had a neighbor that ran a bar. She thought my Dad had turned her in for bootlegging and was not friendly to us. Her grandson was swimming with some other kids. He got on an innertube, but he didn't know how to swim. The wind took him away from the shore and he was trying to paddle back toward the shoreline, when he either went through the center of the innertube or it flipped him into the water. My Mom heard the kids screaming for help. She went to the lake and found out what happened and ran to the house and called the sheriff and hung out the orange towel over the porch railing.

My Dad stripped of his clothes except for his socks T shirt and undershorts and went looking for the boy. The kids were off by many feet of the place he went under and he drowned. The state police found the body in about ten feet of water using grapling hooks.

Cars stopped along the road upon hearing the kids yelling for help. One woman had the gall to get mad at my Dad for stripping to his underwear in public. After that, the woman that owned the bar had a whole new attitude toward our family.

I never felt the same about swimming there again. Sometimes things would fall out of peoples' boats or off their docks and if I found a flip flop or a shoe along the shoreline, I wondered if it was his.

May God reward you richly for your courage.
