The things people do ( The name is Uno)

Sunday, July 24, 2011

this morning i get up and go out to get the newspaper at 4am. i opened the door only to find a new born kitten on my door step.this beautiful little life, helpless. i got a blanket and brought him/her in. i put this little one in one of mr brooders i have for baby birds to keep him warm. i have to hand feed him about every hour for awhile . i am just at a loss as to how anyone can do something like this. what is going through there minds ! how would they have liked to be dropped off somewhere? i guess 'cause people know that i have a lot of animals, and i love them ,and will rescue them, and will take care of them, that i was the perfect one to do this too.hard to tell just what makes people tick sometimes. can i please get your views on all of this? thankyou . emoticonRose emoticon

Rose, maybe someone knew you would care for it and they couldn't. I know it still don't make it right. It is sad that this type of thing is happening so much, even with kids being dropped off in places. Thankfully, Uno was dropped off at your door and not a river...Take care emoticon

Our three cats were also rescues, and the oldest is named Uno (though we usually call him Boo.)

Little Uno was lucky to have found you.

God gave you a gift this morning. Treasure that kitten, and look for the lesson. Although people do weird and stupid things that annoy us, try not to judge or place blame on the "unknown individual", as the circumstances of the kitten's arrival are apparently hypothetical thus far. Inform, educate, encourage good behavior and live by example. You'll be doing all of that by bringing in this kitten and caring for it, and sharing the story here. There are much bigger battles in the world of greater importance. Pick your battles carefully, and concentrate on the critical issues. You will, in turn, experience more joy.

Many blessings!

We live in a rural area, and people are always dropping off animals. Sad.

I am so glad that, if this little kitten was left behind, that it was left on YOUR porch. That dear little kittie will have a great life with you!

Is there any possibility that the mama gave birth and left it?? I would hope that no human would be so ignorant as to not understand how much work a newborn animal takes. Bless you for your caring! Keep Sparkin'!!

Rose, that says a lot about you dear friend! Seems folks think of you as being kind with a heart of gold!
If it's possible, keep the sweet kitten and try not to think too harshly of whoever left it for you . . . maybe they couldn't feed it, take care of it, for whatever reason and knew you'd give it a good home. That's my opinion anyways, I'd try not to judge them, not knowing their circumstances.
If you can, put a photo of the kitten on your page?

Well sounds like this kitten found a good and loving home. No telling how it got there - have you seen a mother cat around your house lately - do your neighbors have cats. Seems a drive by kittening is unlikely, maybe the mother cat just dropped her there by mistake while moving her brood.

The puppies that were left in the car however is an amazing story especially since people want little dogs so much they should have found a home easily.

I just can not believe some people!!! I work for a car rental company. Last week someone returned a car and left a box of 8 puppies in the back. The service agent went out to clean the car not 10 minutes after they left, and came back in with a box and a look on his face... When we looked in the box there were 8 little bitty puppies... all the box said on the side in spanish was "Yorkie shi.tzue mix"... OMG the nerve!! So all the staff took a puppy.. myself included.. The vet said they were about 8 weeks old. The one I took home "Milo" was only 1 lb 7 oz at his first vet visit last week.

Some people just have no common sence I swear!!

No common sence story... A friend of my ex just got a pitbull puppy.. (1 month old) and he was keeping her outside... (Mind you she has had no vaccines or anything like that!) Granted I live in southern California so the weather is nice but there is still risk of PARVO or some other thing that she can not be exposed to yet!! C'mo!! and this man is in his late 50's or something so you would think he would know this! AGGHHHh Just frustrating!!

OK, done ranting now lol!

I, too, am an kitten rescuer. All of my cats are rescues, and I am in the process of rescuing a few now. However, maybe the mama cat dropped off the kitten at your doorstep because she knew you could help her more than she could. With these harsh temperatures, there is not much source of food or water. It is a shame that animals get treated poorly, but be thankful that you were given the chance to show this kitten a new, more enjoyable life. Good luck, and keep us updated on the status of the little one!

SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT IT'S OK TO TREAT ANIMALS POORLY BECAUSE THEIR NOT HUMANS. THEY BEAT,STARVE@ LEAVE THEM OUT IN THE COLD WITHOUT ANY WAY TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. THAT'S NOT RIGHT AND IT SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW!!!

emoticonRose, I'm doing fine today. Have my grapefruit water as I squeeze 1/2 of one and make a quart of water from it. Then eat the "meat" later in the day. Helps cut my appetite as the sour taste kills sugar cravings. emoticon

Nice job, Rose!!
I have been so busy that I am not really eating enough and I am simply making sure to get to the pool each day. I have another big assignment due for my class tomorrow and then 4 more days of more "day to day" work that I expect to get a jump on over the weekend. This online class has been a handful and along with the heat and the next to the last week of my break, well, I can't say I'm keeping on track with a lot. I still need two servings of fruit tonight. OH well, we have berries, melon, and grapes, so I expect to enjoy that snack.

Take care and keep up the good work!!
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

    Start tracking my food again.

My weight loss has ground to a halt and had even gained two lbs back after having to stop running for my injury...but I have a half marathon coming in december and my physical therapist wants me to take off as much of my weight as I can by then. So I REALLY need to buckle down on food right now.

Enjoy your walk!! :)
