Ooops! There goes another one... (short rant)

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Well, there went my 80+ day spin the wheel streak...I really don't think that spinning the wheel should count toward a "log in streak". Sparkpeople, can you program the site to count the "real" log in (putting in our username & pw to use the site) for that streak? Many times I'll come to the site via an email notification, then go off some other rabbit trail, never hitting the start page.

I find it frustrating when I blow that "log in streak" when I had visited and logged into do something.
emoticon I just didn't spin the silly wheel.... Grrrrrr. My rant for the day.

I'm all better now. emoticon
It's a brand new day. And I have a brand new "log in" streak...when really I don't. emoticon

I often forget to spin the wheel then manage to spin it every day for a while. As it is a smaller than it used to be I tend to forget about it. I too go via emails some days and miss the start page so I know what you mean. emoticon

I know exactly what you mean! I sort of get a bit "down" when I break my streak even though I've been on the site that day but just forgot to spin the blessed wheel.

Sending big hugs your way!

I have the same gripe. My problem is that I log in and see that I have mail waiting so I go check that first and then wander off in search of friends and shiny things. Then I log out and don't realize until the next day that I've ruined another streak and another month's "perfect attendance".

You go, friend! I feel the same way!!! I understand why they don't use the log-in because of people (like me) who have it "remember" me. There has to be a better way...like when you first earn Spark points in the day, the wheel should pop up. G-d knows, so much in which I'm not interested - i.e. pop up videos that slow down my computer - pop onto the screen. Nothing is as frustrating as seeing that "0 Day streak" when I know I'm doing far more important things on SP than spinning the wheel.

Okay...thank you for the chance to rant! Think I'll find the suggestions message board and post a request that it changes...Join me!

I love that you added that silly wheel! It is also rather amusing that NOT spinning that thing can be as irritating as it is.

Yes...it's just another day emoticon

Motivation… Activity 6

Saturday, March 29, 2014

If you're wondering where three through five went... I posted them on the team page under the respective threads.

Okay, I’ve got this assignment… I really hate assignments. But I’m going to do this because I need to get my happy butt in gear. I need write all the reasons I want to lose weight/firm up. I guess outline form will work. And it’s quick. emoticon

1) As a cancer survivor I need to keep my body healthy. This means keeping in an ideal weight range and ensuring my body is getting all the exercise and nutrients it needs to be and stay healthy.
2) I want to change my flexibility and my muscle tone. I need to drop about 10 lbs max.
3) I want to look healthy, not skinny or ‘fashionable'. Just healthy.
4) I want to feel great! I want to jump out of bed each morning and just be able to dance for joy. No creaky joints.
5) I will walk, jog, or run on the treadmill. I will get in my workout dungeon and do at least 10 minutes a day with a rest day once a week. I will swap out strength (bodyweight) exercises alternately with cardio.
6) The other thing I want to change is try to cut out more grains and sugars from my diet. I have a weakness for dark chocolate and baked goods. Oh, I also need to work on portion sizes again… I’ve been slacking.
7) I also want to feed and nourish my spirit. I plan on reading my Bible more and delve deeper into my relationship with my Savior. After all it is all about the relationship, not the religion.

And there ya have it. I’ll let me know how this goes after the 56 days of this challenge. emoticon

I like your list. Dark Chocolate is good for you, just eat small quantities. If you can.
10 pds. isn't a lot, I know you can do it. Let us know how the team challenge is going.

So glad to have you on the Spring Challenge! Maybe add some pretty curtains, music, or even tv/movies down in the "dungeon". I know how hard it can be to "make" yourself exercise. Try seeing it as an escape, not a punishment. Just a thought!
Have a great week!!

    Mare,

You are doing great! I'm so happy you joined the 5% challenge. I find it really helps and it's not too intimidating.

Keep the dark chocolate!!! But, yes, keep an eye on portion sizes. emoticon

Those look like some really great reasons.

As for how you view the activity, if you think something is a chore ~ well then ... it will be. Same thing with your feelings about your "workout dungeon".

You might want to view it as a record of where you are, where you've been, and where you're going. I think as you are successful in what you're trying to accomplish, you will find "exercises" such as this to be a cause for joy and celebration.

It's only an assignment if you make it out to be work. It can just be a new path to progress.

Nutrition Plan

This is the part I have been a slacker in lately…I eat pretty clean already. I just need to track my food and watch my portion sizes and cut back on the sugars and I’m sure there’s something else I need to do…

For this 8 week challenge I will:
Track my food.
Ensure portions are proper sized.
Drink my 8 glasses of water (which I pretty much do anyway).
Eat up to 8 servings of veggies a day. I love my Vitamix!
Make sure I’m getting my good fats and proteins.

Good clear goals. I have a reasonable diet eat plenty fruit and veg and drink about 6 glasses of water a day. I am going to track at least 3 days a week but I overestimate and need to cut down portion sizes

Spring 5% Challenge - Activity #1

Friday, March 28, 2014

Okay, I got this crazy idea to join this 5% challenge… Yeah, silly me! I am one of no structure. I usually go with the flow. I’m not one to keep to a ‘schedule’. This ought to be interesting…Time to be disciplined. It begins April 5th. Pray for me.

First step: I’m to write up my 5% Exercise Commitment.
Here goes:
I will get on my treadmill for a minimum of 20 minutes a day.
I will do at least 10K steps a day with or without said treadmill.
The days I don’t get in 10K steps I will do body weight exercises.
I figure this way I’m covering all my bases.
I will rest one day a week, because my Creator did, and I should too.

I've got work to do...

Thursday, May 03, 2012

It has been over one year since I've logged any of my measurements or weight on SP.
I had been maintaining for over a year before that.

Well... Ya know what? If you get complacent about your tracking and logging, things sorta creep up on you...(sigh)

I do have better health habits but I've been slacking. And now I need to shed a bit and firm up again.

I'm still in good BMI range for my height but I don't care for the way my clothes are fitting these days. My measurements are larger than last year at this time. My stamina is lower than last year at this time. And I plan to do something about it... No more slacking.

I just completed week one of the spring boot camp. Here's to week two! I'm ready for ya! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I finished bootcamp week 1 yesterday and am of to start week 2. My stretch bands are shorter and do not have handles but I managed.
I can not believe it is a year since you blogged till I checked the date I suppose that is because we have talked over the year.
I have let my weight slowly creep up to that is why I stay with SP . Must be our age.
I will be going on holiday in a week and this time last year I was in Ibiza for holiday and I was 5lb lighter.
We can do this, we know how. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
