Here we go again!

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Here we go again...it all starts with me getting on the scale, sometimes a little gain does not phase me, ..." I will just have to pay more attention to what I eat" I tell myself, then it goes higher and I make another excuse before you know it , I am 5 - 6 LBS OVER and I am now MAD!!!!
Mad that that scale said 146 something lbs this morning!
OK I draw the line! NO WAY !!!!
and I don't have TOM as an excuse!

so it is back to the drawing board!
Off to the pool this morning!

lugging that extra 6 lbs around in the pool is not going to be fun!

I guess I better readjust my calorie intake and concentrate on CLEAN EATING and VEGGIES AND FRUIT!

here we go again! .........uuurgh!

Mel I should go back and repost every encouraging word you have given to me!!! I'm no good with words, but your words have helped me! That scale is evil. If you really were 6 pounds heavier, you would feel a difference in your jeans! Don't let that scale ruin how you feel! You live healthy. We all have ups and downs on the scale. I know this is easy for me to say right now...but its TRUE! You are such an inspiration to so many people! Chin up and forget about "oh evil one".

I relate completely to your blog. I have been off my program for weeks now. I have put on 5 lbs also. I need a swift kick in the BUTT.

It seems like we would learn from these hard lesson, but we don't. So it is off to the drawing board again.

Keep it up - You can set a good example for the rest of us. We can Do This.

Stay away from the scale for a couple of weeks and just focus on your intake and exercise. Also, concentrate more on the other measures of fitness: stamina, energy, measurements - they are generally better indicators than the liars, ooops, scales.

i wonder if you even need to be focusing on the scale?

i do ST now 3 times a week and i know i am gaining weight--it's inevitable with ST--not alot but i can expect to gain at least 2-3 lbs from it...

you are so physically active, and you eat so well....how do you feel? that's the main question

You know what to do! I find the more veggies I eat, the better I feel too, so now I try to make my 4th meal of the day 100% raw veggies and dip... I just love it!

How are your clothes fitting? Maybe it's not a gain that you need to be worried about???

I am noticing something .....

Monday, March 22, 2010

Last week was a week that got me TOTALLY out of my routine, not only were we struggling to get used to the time change, but the kids were off school for a week and DD and DS woke me up about 3 nights in the night for various reasons... ( I was so tired! )
AND swimming was at a different time ( tues and sat - instead of tues and thurs) , running was on thur and sunday .....
and I was not as active in general with exercise because of having to squeeze exercise in around family activities and around looking after sick son.

I NOTICED SOMETHING....
it totally threw me off my equilibrium.
as my activity decreased so did my appetite!
I CRAVED exercise on the days that I was supposed to exercise and could not!
I really missed my routine!
I did ST's one day and I was sore the following day! lol - i really have been neglecting my st's ! so it was a good sore! lol
Because I was tired I tried to sleep in as much as possible!
so this week I am back to my REGULAR schedule and besides battling to get out of bed in the morning, I am HAPPIER ,knowing what is coming in my day!
I really am a routine girl! IT agrees with me! Although I am able to be flexible in my schedule somewhat , as long as at the end of the day I get it all done, then I am ok!

On wed is my SIL's birthday and I decided since I can't babysit for her to go out to dinner since I am working , I thought I would have her over for lunch .
So I thought since I was doing that I would invite some of our mutual friends for lunch too for a little birthday celebration!
2 reasons for doing this...it is just who I am , I love to do stuff like that and secondly
it forces me to CLEAN UP AND TIDY THE HOUSE! lol

I hope that it turns out well and she has a good time.
so tomorrow I will be cleaning , cleaning , cleaning!
Today I did laundry for the most part , but I was tired so I did not rush around like a crazy person...DS and I did a grocery shop and went to bulk barn for nuts.
I also enjoyed the new coffee machine ! and baked birthday cake for SIL's lunch on wed.
The weather was dreary today and I find when the weather is like that I just want to hibernate!
I SORTED OUT 2 of my shelves in my cupboard ( remember the ones that the pumpkin seed fell out of a few weeks ago! ) finally got around to sorting it out!

At least sheets/bedding are all changed on all beds so it is just vacuuming and tidying tomorrow and we will be all set for wed, In the morning I am going to make some cheese scones, one of the ladies is bringing fruit, another is bringing juice , and the other some cold cuts....so I will have hot scones, muffins, yogurt and birthday cake ready!

I really hope it goes off well and everyone has fun!

I am looking forward to swimming tomorrow, it will probably be a recovery swim....I look forward to hearing all about how the provincials went! I thought about my team mates and wondered how it was going!

I am at work at the moment and it is REALLY quiet today!
I am up to date with everything!

I confess I got a kit kat from the vending machine tonight , but the good thing is I have not gotten ANYTHING from the vending machine in ages!!!! so no biggie!

So I am watching the rain fall....and trying to kill time!

HAVE A GOOD NIGHT ALL!

Mel you are always busy! I'm a routine girl too. I do best when I follow a plan. Outside it.......winging it.......I'm bound to fail. Ugh. No plan this week for meals....yet. Ran 45 mn on sunday with a 20mn walk. Exhausting, but exhilarating too!! I'll write again tomorrow night.........gotta get to bed. Hugs, Laur

Having a routine is what I've found to be the key to weight loss success! Especially a routine feeding/exercise schedule... if you are constantly changin it up you either get messed up and forget to eat enough, or you haven't planned appropriately and you end up eating bad choices!

PS... KitKat bars are my favorite too. I could eat those halloween sized ones all day long, so I don't buy them anymore, except at Halloween! LOL

You know, Mel, I WISH I could get a routine down! I have to go with whatever I can "squeeze" in here and there because of our lifestyles. I think I would really enjoy having a regular routine and now what to expect in that way! You're doing so well! By the way, thanks for what you said on my wall and blog today. How sweet of you to have your SIL over for lunch - she'll enjoy time with you and mutual friends.

March break is over and the swans are back!

Monday, March 22, 2010

Well, I can't believe it , but March Break is OVER!!! The swans are back on the little patch of water that has defrosted and the geese are returning in pairs!
This is a pic ( above) of what the Lake looked like on Friday , we were having our first OUTDOOR BBQ of the year! My Soy burger was delicious!
For the most part we had a really relaxing day and after the kids were in bed I curled up with a new book! What a treat!
Saturday I went for a swim at lane swim and there were GIRLS ONLY in my lane! emoticon
I managed to do 2700 metres in an hour!
I did however whack my hand on the side of the pool because I did not notice that they did not have flags on the deep end of the pool. so I was taken by surprise when the pool suddenly ended! lol ....it was really sore for about 2 days! But nothing serious, just annoying! Funny the small things you suddenly CAN'T DO!! Still a little tender , but it is expected after whacking hard concrete ! I was doing backstroke at the time!
I enjoyed my swim!
We had family movie time , we watched the TRANSFORMERS movie, with the kids!
Since DS had not seen it and he has some toys and is a fan of the toys and he wanted to see the movie! The kids and DH went for a short bike ride while I was doing groceries on Friday....sorry I missed it but it was such a short one ...just to the duck pond and back! I guess the kids will have to get their BIKE legs back slowly! lol

Sunday was a wonderful day, Church in the morning , after a leisurely breakfast of SP granola and yogurt. After Church we went to Swiss Chalet and had a wonderful meal with the kids. DH and I shared the Chicken Queasedilla and we had a veggie side and rice - which we shared!
Now this is the amazing thing, we looked at the dessert menu and DID NOT ORDER anything! that is a FIRST!!!!!! wow!~
We came home and DD and I made rice crispy squares for their lunches for school with some cereal and choc chips mixed in with it!
I made EAT CLEAN Hummus this weekend which was delicious! I will never BUY Hummus again! when the one I make is so delicious!
On Sat night we had chicken and avocado salad and it was so delicious!
Last night we had chicken and mayo on a pita and hummus and crackers/flat bread, and we were supposed to have fruit and frozen yogurt after , BUT I WAS TOO FULL! so I did not have dessert.....even though DH did, NOW THAT IS A FIRST!!!

Alright, so it was weigh in today:
145.6 lbs! Er not what I want to see....145 is my PANIC zone ( expression borrowed from LIS!! )
I know I did not do as much exercise last week as I normally do with march break ...so it is to be expected, BUT I was not as hungry either.

I managed to get on the treadmill 2 X ..(Thursday and Sunday) I did intervals, the first one based on time, ( 45 min plus cool down and stretch total 60 min ) and then the second time based on distance ... I put in 4 for distance ( I don't know if my treadmill is in miles or km's) ....and it took me 60 min to complete it in intervals and then added another 15 min for cool down and stretch ) .

One thing is for sure, when the kids are home all day and all week , the house looks like a tornado hit it even though I have been cleaning and picking up after them, I just could not keep up , so I gave up! .... Will tidy tomorrow when BOTH are at school!
It is my SIL's birthday on Wed....
AND I have been doing nothing but laundry all week , with Ds's throwing up in the night , ( sheets and bedding) and DD drinking too much water before bed , so her sheets, and then we changed OUR sheets last night , PLUS all the regular laundry! If my washer and dryer were UPSTAIRS and not in the basement , it would get done a lot sooner...... one day!!!!! One day it will all be installed upstairs just outside the washroom, and I will be on top of the laundry all the time! I can't wait for that day! ....but in the meanwhile.......I have to REMEMBER to go down and stay on top of the laundry! I tend to forget about it! ( out of sight out of mind! lol)

My DH bought us a programmable coffee machine this weekend, our coffee machine broke a few years ago and we have never replaced it...but this is the THEORY behind getting a programmable one! lol....
we are hoping the smell of freshly brewed coffee will entice us out of bed in the mornings so that we will be able to get up EARLIER and get in some exercise before the busy day starts.....
esp HUBBY!
and especially in the summer time when the kids will be home and swim practice has ended for the season, so we are preparing to get ourselves up earlier and exercise!

this morning getting up again at 7 am was a challenge, we had slept in all week ...( 8:00am) ...lol and the time change really made us tired...
BUT
this is a new week and the kids are back at school and 3 months to go till Summer holidays begin.....
SO 3 months more of the swimming season!
So it is the FINAL PUSH!!!
after the recovery work outs from the provincials swim meet that happened this past weekend ( I thought of my team there without me! ) ....then the work outs will pick up intensity to get the team ready for NATIONALS!! ( they are in NANAIMO , B.C.) ,
I am sorry I will miss it this year, but I plan to go next year!

I made muffins and waffles for this week on SAT...so we are all set for that!
I did not make my crockpot EAT CLEAN porridge this week, we are taking a break for a week! lol ....the kids had oatmeal this morning, with dinasour eggs! ( they love it! ) I hope to wean them off the dinasour egg variety as they get older!

Ds lost a tooth this weekend , and DD lost 2 in the last week!
the tooth fairy has been busy in our home!

Alrighty I have a reason to lose these extra 5 lbs, I have a cocktail party to go to in April! and I plan on using that as motivation to lose these excess pounds.... funny, when I was at 142 Lbs I was not content and wanted to get to 140 lbs, NOW I AM AT 145 AND I would be only to happy to be at 142! lol , it is all relative....
but yes I am not loving how my pants are not fitting right , so time to take more time and care in meal planning and getting the exercise and ST in!
REFOCUS!!! that is the order of the day this week!
Have a great one everyone! emoticon

You are busy as always. I am sure this week will be a better week. I am hoping anyway. Breaks are always fun but there is something to be said for the usual routine. I guess we may be creatures of habit. I pray the coffee thing works. It sounds like a good idea anyway. Take care and may God bless

Hmm... you and me both in the PANIC zone... maybe we were channeling each other - I'm at 145.6 too. Too right those 5 pounds need to go and I'm going to seriously worry about it when we get back. I'm going to enjoy my last 1 weeks here
This morning we're going kayaking - it's my first time and have no idea what to expect except for getting wet.

Quick update

Friday, March 19, 2010

Hi there all, It feels like I am having a long weekend, last shift done last night AND hubby is home today so I will not be sparking much....but wanted to let you know DS seems to be better! I was so worried!
weigh in 146 Lbs ( YIKES!!! )
been a crazy week....so I have not had the time I need to plan meals and eat clean, but I have done what I can.
Tonight is BBQ time! Soy burgers! yum!
we are going on a bike ride later, the weather is great!
I did not make it to the pool this am.....maybe tomorrow!

I was too tired and also decided family comes first today!

looking forward to having more time to plan meals this weekend and so an UNRUSHED grocery shop!
I made SP Granola yesterday, it was so yummy I ate it with LARGE chunks of watermelon!

Yes so I am not happy with the scale , nor am I surprised.. have not been able to focus on fibre and getting my water and neglected the veggies a bit!
I know what I need to do , but 146 Lbs is ONE POUND OVER my RED LIMIT. ... as in DANGER ZONE!!! that is the zone where I get a wake up call and realise the pounds will be packing on if I don't MAKE A CHANGE!!

so here is to MAKING A CHANGE!!!!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

By the way , that BASA fish which I did in the oven was delicious!
I bake it with onion and ginger and herbs.

Flowers that brighten up my home!

Thursday, March 18, 2010

As promised I took a pic of those beautiful flowers as soon as I could get the batteries for my camera back from DS's tv game! lol
These were a few from the arrangement from the celebration service that I attended on the weekend for a lady not much older than me who fought cancer.
The family wanted to share the flowers rather than leave them to die in the church.....
After work last night I popped in to the grocery store for TOOTHPASTE and KETCHUP!!! ..then joined some of my swim team friends for TEA ( well they were having guinness) ...and I took my Leprecaun hat , it was a hit. Everyone had a turn wearing it! even the head coach! lol
they all took pics, but I did not have my camera with me! ( I KNOW!!! that is rare! )

Anyway I did not know until I came home that DS had gotten sick again and DH had to deal with changing sheets etc,. He said he called my on my cell, but seriously the ringer must be off because I did not hear it once and my purse with my cell in it was sitting at me feet! So I felt so bad for him and for DS!
ANyway he slept through the night thankfully and so did I ....

Today I am letting them take it easy and watch movies. ( Land before time) and they played outside for a short while after lunch...but with DS still having an upset tummy we can't go to the park or anything ,we have to be close to a washroom!
the weather is GLORIOUS though!
I managed to sneak in 63 min treadmill Intervals work out and did upper body and core stregnth training while they watched the movie!
It felt good, although I can feel my body is tired!

We are having BASA fordinner which is a white fish which i have not yet tasted, hope it is nice!
Served with Red and brown rice! and veggies.

Last shift of the week tonight! yay!
Tomorrow DH is taking the day off and we hope to BBQ some Soy burgers for dinner! I love those! I love them more than meat burgers! I know - weird!
anyway I have to go shower and get ready for work...put the fish in the oven.....

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY ...Tomorrow is friday , my swimming day!
5 am it will be - GROAN!!!!!!!
