Busy days...

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Its been really busy the last couple of days for me.
I had my grandbaby yesterday. Thats always a busy time. We did get some sewing time together. She is loving the little beginner sewing kits I bought her. She quickly tired of that though and moved on to the next adventure. The next adventure (and yes, she calls them that lol) was for her, myself, and a HUGE, LIFE-SIZED GOLDEN RETRIEVER (all of us sitting in the same chair, mind you) to watch The Wizard of Oz. Thankfully she moved on about 20 min into that to the next "adventure." lol
I also applied for yet another job. This one is not exactly in the direction I had hoped to find work, but a good prospect anyway. Wish me luck on this one.
I also had to go to the funeral home last night. My best friend's father passed away after an extended illness. I know she finds comfort in knowing he is with his Lord and will never be in pain again. Praise God for that promise!
I have been doing ok on my plan. I just worry a lot when I am so busy. Its difficult to plan meals for one PLUS a picky little pre-schooler LOL. I am really tight on money this week as well. My HUGE electric bill zapped most of my grocery budget. But, the good news is .....Friday is coming emoticon and this gives me an even better reason to finish my challenge to "use up whats in the freezer and pantry."

Praying for you in all areas of concern, Mellie! God is faithful and will provide for His own. Don't give up or cave in under the pressure; just rest in Him and continue praying and doing what is right. You can be sure that He will do His part if you will do yours!

God bless you!

The job prospect is interesting. Another adventure as your grand baby would say. May God continue to make a way for you, Mellie.

Your busy day sounds absolutely lovely, and your granddaughter precious. She's so fortunate to have you in her little life.

I know how stressful the whole job search thing can be, and being strapped in the meantime makes it worse. You know you can count on getting what you need, though. Perhaps the not-so-usual job you've applied for will pan out to be much more than you expected. I'll add my prayers to yours in that vein, and in the meantime for peace in the waiting.

You'll figure out the eating, even when it's busy, because it's clear that you're ready, whatever the hurdles in the way. I'm here cheering, Mellie, and so are all your other SPs!

Great weekend

Monday, March 04, 2013

I had a great weekend really. Saturday was peaceful (I like those lol). Yesterday I took my grandbaby to the circus. She had acquired a free ticket from somewhere and asked me 2 weeks ago if I would take her. It wasn't a "great" circus, but the excitement in her little face was worth everything. Of course she had to have a snowcone and cotton candy. (Yes, I did taste both)
I am down a pound for the week. I am pleased with that number because I didn't get to weigh in last week until Wednesday. Any loss is welcome. emoticon
I am going to work on my vision board today since I will be in and out with errands. Tomorrow I am going to spring clean my extra bathroom. I may even get the second one done as well.

March Goals

Friday, March 01, 2013

I've never been really good at setting goals. That's not entirely true. I have no problem setting goals, I have problems meeting them. I usually dream BIG...and then when I don't achieve them, I get very discouraged. So, this time I am going to try to be realistic and set small goals for myself for the month of March.

1. Create a vision board.

2. Lose 6lbs by the end of March.

3. Begin doing some form of exercise at least two days a week.(doctor permitting)

4. Track my food and water every single day.

5. Spring clean my kitchen, bedroom, and bathrooms.

6. Reward myself with a new outfit when I achieve my goals.

Ok.. please feel free to comment. Are the goals I have set too easy, too hard? Have I set too many?

I also plan to be accountable to myself here on how I am doing.

I would love your feedback. emoticon

Setting goals gives us a vision to move towards. God's word says in Proverbs 29:18 says that "Where there is no revelation (or prophetic vision), the people cast off restraint". So goals serve a two-fold purpose; they keep us on course and they help us reach our destination. They give us a direction to follow to achieve the results that we desire. But they do not have to be set in stone and we should not feel devastated if we don't achieve one or more of them. Legalism leads to destruction, but grace leads to freedom. Use your goals as a guideline to help you achieve your dreams and give yourself the freedom to fail and get back up again to start over without condemnation. Enjoy your journey!

Great job. Remember exercising doesn't have to be at the gym. It could be going out dancing, or roller skating with a friend.

I think you did great on setting the goals! It's always best to set small ones and when you meet them, then make a few more. Everything is an accomplishment and you can do this!

emoticon I think your goals are just right because they're specific, have a defined time frame, and they're things that both matter to you AND they all move you closer to the bigger goals you have in mind. Do you want or need to put a time on the exercise you'll do twice a week, say "for at least 10 minutes"? Other than that, I think you've got your March goals!

Please let us know how you're doing so we can cheer for you and encourage you.

I think they are just right- you don't want to set yourself up to fail and next month you can add to it if you thought they were too easy. emoticon

You can and will meet your goals. You were specific and not vague. I think they are reasonable and not too low. When we make them unattainable we do fall into discouragement. Add a perfect number 7. to the mix, and try to encourage someone else with weight problems a specific time per day/week/month. Blessings sent your way, Mellie.

I've had a day where I just didn't feel right. Kinda down in the dumps more than anything. The cold is bitter today and I am trying to be conservative with my heat so, I really didn't feel like doing much. I honestly can't wait until the weather is warmer and we get some consecutive days of sunshine. I have fought all day to keep this mood from completely swallowing me up. So, even though I didn't do anything majorly productive, I did work on making another purse and I also drug myself out for a trip to Walmart for some needed household things.
My daughter called me this evening and gave me great news. In fact, its more than great, its an answer to prayer. We have been praying for an answer to something she and I both have been turning over in our heads since last September. We stewed about this until the other day when she said to me.. you know mom.. lets let God give us the answer. I believe he is leading us toward this.. tonight was just more proof. I know all of this sounds vague. I am just not ready to share the details publicly yet. But I just wanted to praise God for answered prayer tonight. Not just for the answer we have been praying about, but for always taking care of me. I have so much to be thankful for.

It's always the darkest just before the dawn. Sometimes we just have to praise our way through the darkness! It sounds like you were dealing with the spirit of heaviness today and the word tells us that the Lord gives us the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Praise silences the enemy and ushers us into the victory where God is glorified in our lives! (Isaiah 61:3)

Amen, and amen... Knowing we truly are in His hands is so reassuring, and when He gives clear signs like the one you've received, it's almost staggering.

Thank you for sharing the praise. I'm right there nodding with you, grateful, and humble.

Have a super eveing.

Change of plans

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Everyday is shifting sand with me. Ever feel like you can't make a plan? That seems to be the story of my life lol. As soon as I make a plan, I can assure you something will happen to change it.
Yesterday my doctor's office called. It seems they don't like to do just one surgery at a time. Hmm..... mass production.... mass surgery? lol. Anyway, because it turned out that I was the only one scheduled for surgery on the 4th, they asked if it would be ok to move my date to the 20th. If I left it as is, they would have to call in the entire surgical team for just me. and the doctor would have to rearrange his entire day after my surgery just to fill his day. Sooo.. long story short, my surgery is rescheduled for the 20th.
My little brother once told me this....and I laugh every time I have a plan change. "If you want to see God laugh, tell Him your plans." I think that phrase was coined for me lol.

Great attitude, Mellie! I'm not sure I would have been as accommodating... doesn't seem right at all... But you've turned that negative upside down with your brother's advice...I'll have to remember that quote! It reminded me of the old old one about proof that God has a sense of humor: just look at giraffes, and consider flamingos with their knees on backwards.

Seriously, hope you're able to put aside the agitation from having to wait even longer. There must be a good reason for this, though you may not know it till the other side. :)

Be well, my friend!

:) Gail emoticon

As I read your blog this morning the Lord reminded me of this verse that I have prayed so many times in my life:

Psalm 31:14, 15a But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, "You are my God." My times are in Your hand;

We don't always understand why plans have to change when we are anxious to get past a certain obstacle in our path, but God knows the beginning to the end and we can trust Him to do what is best for us. Our times are in His hands!
