What was I thinking???

Monday, October 12, 2009

******October 12, 2009*******
Ok so this is my official "startover" day. I have been so off track this past month and managed to gain back 6 lbs in that time. I'm ready to start over completely and get back on track.
It's a little...no a LOT scary...how easily I let myself slip back in to eating so terribly. After a year of hardly eating an extra bite without guilt, I have eaten fast food, buffets, ice cream...then more ice cream. What the *beep* was I thinking? I finally get under 200..then so close to the 180's and instead of working harder, I worked hard at almost getting back OVER 200. Bah. Well luckily I didn't and I WILL NOT!
I'm going back to logging every bite, getting the the gym and doing this!

    You are my inspiration.
Go back and read your blogs, watch your photos. You've become much healthier, won years to your life but you CAN keep up the good work and win even more. You have done exceptionally great but you are still not "there".
Maybe your body need a little time to adjust to your new under 200 weight, or your mind got bored with the constant diet and exercise watch.
After you all get out of the tummy bug, please start it all over again. You are still ahead of me with this notch. So come on. emoticon emoticon

Been there done that! I lost 24 pds. and gained back 22 of it! We will do it together...we have the tools and the knowledge...now we just have to get the courage and the determination! emoticon

Dunno about you, but when I lost 100+ the first time around, I gained it all back (plus 100 more) because I *wasn't* thinking...

Management/maintenance is really really hard. The NWCR says you have to keep the weight off for about 5 years before your chances dramatically increase of keeping it off forever. I suspect it takes about 5 years to re-train our brains and habits.

Good job on catching yourself. Keep up the good fight!

Musta been the month. There are a lot of us out here! You caught yourself in time. You might need to be a little, and I say little, more lenient with yourself so you don't feel the need to go off so big. (only speaking from experience).

You can do it! We're behind you!

I know how easy it is to slide into convenient eating mode, as in not particularly nutritious food .
Sometimes I lose and gain the same 2 pounds but as long as I can get to 150 or lower and maintain for a bit, I am ok with that. My weight is evenly distributed so I don't look as heavy as I am... but it IS an ongoing battle. Don't give up the fight.

I commend you for realizing you were getting a little too relaxed and now you are getting back on track. I think that is the biggest thing. Just realizing and accepting it. You know what you need to do and you are willing to get back to those healthy habits that helped you get under 200 lbs. Good luck!

Oh Happy Days!

Saturday, July 04, 2009

ok so I was getting frustrated with the scale the past month or more...working so hard and getting slim results, so I decided to look up on the msg boards something that might help. I came across an old series of msgs about zig zagging your calories. I've heard of it before and thought ok...why not. So I gave it a try this past week and *drumroll please* I lost FIVE pounds! I'm eating the same amount of calories for the week that I would of...just in different amts each day instead of 'evenly' and it works! I'm so happy and getting sooooooooooo close to Onederland I can't stand it! I feel like I'm about to win the lottery or something!
I will definitely be calorie cycling again this week! I think the change up was just what I needed.

For those interested here's my take on it and what I did:

I usually eat around 1200 calories so that was my "regular" day and I adjusted around that.

1st day: low calories (900)
2nd day: high calories (1500)
3rd day: low (900)
4th day: very high (1800)
5th day: very low (600)
6th day: high (1500)
7th day: regular (1200)

I still exercised like always....5x's a week at least 30 mins a day.

    Melissa,

this is a take on an old diet (I'm talking like 25 years ago almost) called "The Rotation Diet." The theory behind it is you "trick" your body from going into "starvation mode" by varying the amount of food it takes in. Good job figuring out what you needed for a kick start, keep up the good work!!

congrats on finding new ways to succeed.I'll also try this calorie cycling...But I hope you know that weight loss slows down then starts again especially during a big weight loss. You must not get really frustrated (just healthily), not with yourself, you are doing great.Just stick with it. You can be soo proud of yourself. But you have still a long way to go, and I think you really need to get there, exactly there and for that you also need patience. Also i'll check your page regularly.
One more thing: I hate strength training I find it extreme boring. But you (me too) should give it a go (say for one month) next time you slow down. Everybody says it really boosts your metabolism.(more muscle- more calories burnt during the day even at rest) and only cardio is not enough. Only I couldn't find a way that I enjoy but still working on it. Perhaps you can. Best wishes.

100 lbs lost picture

Wednesday, June 03, 2009

ok a lot of people asked me why I didn't put up a new picture when I lost 100 lbs. I mostly didn't because the one on Mother's Day was so close that I didn't even think about it BUT then today I was going through my closet and came across these pants....these my biggest ever pants...the ones I wore ALL the time when I was at my heaviest and thought I look 'ok' in them. Well to prove how much 100 lbs is, I put my oldest son Kyle who's pretty close to 100 lbs in them with me!
So this is my official 100 lbs lost picture.

100 pounds GONE!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Today the scale rewarded me with seeing 100 lbs GONE since I started trying to lose weight. I did it...I lost 100 lbs in 8 months! I am so excited and proud of myself and....HAPPY! I remember when I started and I would of never told anyone that I even 'had' 100+ lbs to lose and now I couldn't wait to tell anyone who would listen that I did it!
I have no intentions of slowing down. My next goal is to lose 16 lbs...that would put me under 200 for the first time in oh I don't know...20+ years and then it's on to 174....takes me out of obese to 'unhealthy'. Haha..sounds funny I know to get excited about being unhealthy. :)
Then its on to goal weight. I'm getting there!
