Project Me - Day 5 : Taking good care of me!

Thursday, August 05, 2010

The last three nights I've slept very poorly, so instead of dragging my tired self to work today I called in sick. I was literally shaking and sick to my stomach I was so tired.

If I had gone to work today I would have made it through the day, but would have eaten everything in sight to keep myself awake and would have come home being cranky to my family. Instead, I took my children to their Aunt's just as I would if I had been working and came back home, ate a healthy breakfast and then took a three hour nap.

The results: My eating was completely in control today (stayed in range for my calories, carbs and fat, and was only 1 gram short on protein). After the nap and taking it easy this afternoon I was able to muster up the energy to fit in a short workout. I had the patience to be a good wife and mom.

Despite how I felt at the start of the day, I feel that today has been a very successful day.

I love this idea, and thank you for sharing it. I will have to do something just like this.

There is nothing wrong with taking a timeout for ourselves. If you don't take care of yourself, who will?

Project Me - Day 4

Wednesday, August 04, 2010

I'm having a bloated kind of day, but I am psyched that I stayed within my calorie range!!!

Most of my exercise was within the coarse of my work day helping to bring the residence back and forth from their day programs. I also did 10 minutes of the Wii Fit Plus to help with my Wii Zooms team challenge.

Hopefully my digestive system will straighten itself out tomorrow.

Does your bloat have anything to do with artificial sweeteners (splenda, maltilol etc.) or fiber fortified food (inulin)? They can totally mess you up.

Good job with the exercise!!!!

Project Me - Day 3

Tuesday, August 03, 2010

Very busy day at work today. I had 2 meetings and had to do direct care coverage for awhile. This led to me essentially skipping lunch (ate it at 5:30 pm, so at that point you call it dinner).

Calorie wise I only went over by 40 calories today, so everyday has gotten a little better.

Exercise was less than usual because of my busy day. God Bless dear hubby for suggesting that the whole family including dog, go for a walk when I got home otherwise my morning exercise might have been it for the day. So I got 14 minutes on Walk It Out and a nice 25 minute walk with my family. Tomorrow is one of my early shifts so I won't get any more in today as I will be going to bed in about an hour.

Project Me - Day 2

Monday, August 02, 2010

Day 2 was a little less challenging than day 1. Still went over my daily calories by going out to eat tonight, but put in a lot of exercise so I hope that balances out.

I tracked my calories - I was over by about 300, felt like I was trying to make good choices.

I exercised for at least 10 minutes - more like an hour and a half! I did about 30 minutes of Wii Sports for Wii Zooms Amazing Race challenge, then before we went out to eat tonight we had the girls grab their scooters while hubby and I walked and we did an hour on a local bike/walk trail.

I wrote my daily blog - I'm finding that I really like the accountability of this and the moral support I am receiving through friends comments is truly a precious gift!

Tomorrow I am back into my work week and I think my eating is a little more structured on work days, however, on Tuesdays I work 10am - 6:30pm, so usually unless I fit in fitness in the morning it might not get done.

Here's to a healthy tomorrow!

You had a great day! Way to go! Tracking everything is the right thing to do. With all that activity I am sure you balanced in the long run. Remember this is a lifetime journey, so "it's about consistency, not perfection" ( my favorite motto I have picked up while on Sparkpeople for about 6 months). Sounds like you have the right approach for long term success..Good luck

Project Me - Day 1

Sunday, August 01, 2010

I've become fed up with myself, going about this weight loss thing half-heartedly. It seems that I lose my focus way too easily. I decided it is time for a real fresh start. Today I restarted my Spark People program. My fast break goals are to track my calories each day, get at least 10 minutes of exercise each day, and to write in my journal each day (I am using this blog as my journal).

Today I met all 3 of these goals:

I tracked my calories - yes I did go over what I should have had, but I tracked them and knoweldge is power.

I exercised for 50 minutes today with my Walk It Out Wii game - this is probably the easiest of the three as I am fairly active.

I am blogging and will try to do so each day.

Challenges: My post church stop at Dunkin Donuts ( the Non-fat latte was planned for, the cheese danish was not) Then later I took my kids to a birthday party that I was hoping was a drop off party but it turned out small and parents ended up staying. One cheeseburger and ice cream sundae later and I was way over my calories for the day. I need to start planning better for the curveballs life throws at me.

Tomorrow I am pretty sure we are going to the 99 for dinner so I will try to map out the rest of my day accordingly.

Here are pics of the sundaes my girls made. Mine was far more conservative:

Calorie counting can be a nightmare! Did you set your fitness goals appropriately so your calories are correct? (You probably did, but when I set my stuff up, I didn't realize that the fitness goals had anything to do with the calories I was supposed to eat - oops!)

One day at a time! You can do it!
