feels like magic or something

Sunday, February 15, 2009

I almost cannot believe it.
After my b-day dinner
and a few pieces of DH's Vday candy emoticon
and another nice at home dinner,
I'm down another pound!!!
I am not feeling deprived.
I'm tracking everything I eat.
I'm ramping things up at the gym. emoticon
I'm going alcohol free every other night.
I'm here at SP every day.
I guess that's my program and I am sticking to it! emoticon
Thanks for all YOUR inspiration!

Way To Go Elizabeth! I think the ramping up at the gym and cutting down on the alcohol has made all the difference. No one said you had to give up everything. We are all a little different, but it sounds like you have found the right combination for you. Keep up the good work!

You know I think it IS magic!! I have had the same experience. I feel like I'm not really 'doing' much but since I've been here the pounds have just quietly disappeared one here, a half there, goodbye n good riddance!!
And the friendships! Did you ever think it would be this much fun??

not too bad at all

Saturday, February 14, 2009

Well, I chose a favorite restaurant and my handsome hubby took me out for my birthday last night.
I went with the attitude that I can eat as much as I want of whatever I want.
Guess what?
We shared an appetizer (Littlenecks Siciliano) with bread for dipping,
I ate broiled scallops with the house salad
(forgot to ask for dressing on the side so only ate half because there was too much)
we shared a dessert (which we rarely do)
and we shared a bottle of wine.
I tracked my food and I was still very close on my calories.
Go figure!

The best thing is, it doesn't sound like you felt deprived or even that you were dieting. It just sounded like a wonderful dinner with your hubby. How great is that? I bet you felt satisfied too. See, you really are changing! Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day too. This year I said "no candy" so I got silk boxer shorts instead...pretty interesting!

slow but steady!

Friday, February 13, 2009

Whew!
Finally, down another pound! emoticon
I feel like I deserve it.
No major blown days,
3 AF (alcohol free) days,
325 minutes of exercise so far this week. emoticon emoticon emoticon
Small, livable changes that work for me.
I don't (won't) feel deprived.
I guess I'll just keep on doing what I've been doing.
That's 8 lbs in 4 weeks.
I'm happy. emoticon

8 pounds in 4 weeks is pretty good -- I'm always thrilled with that kind of progress. Right now I'm suspecting I may have hit a little plateau. We just got back from 3 weeks of hiking in Sedona --- well, in all honesty, 2 weeks of hiking and 1 week of eating after the weather got too bad for hiking.....sigh. emoticon

At any rate, we are back home and I'm trying to get back into my routine. Congratulations again on your weight loss and good luck with your goals! emoticon

uh-oh, gonna break my rule again!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

I'm not being very compliant!
NOW I know what the nuns were complaining to my poor saint of a mother about all those years (did I mention I'm 1 of 14?).
Apparently, I ignore rules at will.
I have a very strict rule (or so I thought) of only weighing on Sunday mornings,
buck naked emoticon
no ifs, ands, or buts.
Well, I HAD to weigh last Sat because I planned on pigging out (not really) on Sat. night.
And now I have to weigh on Friday this week because
it's my birthday tomorrow emoticon and I'm going out for a special meal.
I know I'll eat well and drink moderately but I just don't want to have to worry about it. Also, who knows what will happen on Valentine's Day emoticon
Coincidentally, today was my lowest calorie count ever.
Wish me luck! emoticon

So Valentine's 'time' is special! It's YOUR birthday! Wishing you a great outing and superb meal! ENJOY!! You deserve it!

As for the scale weighing in... I also weigh in daily and although I'm not logging it in until Sunday - so far it looks like a 1lb loss this week. Not only am I maintaining below 170 but edging towards the 160 mark!

Good luck -- I step on the scale every day -- if you start paying attention, you'll see patterns. For instance - Thursday is my lightest day, and I'm three pounds heavier at 10 PM that I am at 7 AM. HAHA - can you say obsessive compulsive?

You're doing awesome -- keep it up!

just noticed this

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

I've been going AF (alcohol free) every other day for February.
I usually drink 1-2, sometimes 3 glasses of wine every night
so I figured that would help me cut down some calories.
I'm really enjoying it because I don't feel one bit deprived.
BUT
now I've noticed I sleep much better after an AF day
and I wake up a little sloggy (new word) after drinking nights.
hhhhmmmm....
Maybe I'll do 2 AF days between drinks.
Can't hurt.

Sounds like you are doing great. I know it is much more difficult when you are retired. One thing I laugh about is that retiring could turn me into a serious drinker. (not really) but with no need to get up for work, I could sleep as long as I wanted after a night of drinking. I really used to love to party, but one time I got really sick and my drinking days were over.

    Hi ,
I know I get a lot more rest and sleep much better if I am AF. I can sleep but still wake up groggy and tired. emoticon

It's a lot easier than I thought it would be too.

I have limited myself to one big martini a week since 1/11/09 - after initially having difficulty getting to sleep, I find that I feel better and less bloaty.

Amazing how that one martini knocks my socks off though - and don't like not feeling in control anymore.

It's a good thing, right? emoticon

yeah there really is a life after AF. I do my best writing sober which makes me wonder how F. Scott and Earnest did it!

Hopes the best. 3 glasses of wine would be way, way too much for me. I do ahve one glass of wine with dinner. I'm trying an experiment here. I've never been much of a drinker but i heard that wine can help lower blood sugar and help with diabetees. So far my experiment has proved correct. I've been doing bgreat in that area.I hope you can do okay.

I like your new word, "sloggy". And your "AF days". I also really enjoy a glass of wine. I do usually have one glass with my hubby before bed. I try to keep it to one, however!

I find that to be completely true for me as well! Particularly if I've combined wine and coffee, which equals serious insomnia.
