Well, I had a revelation as I was in the grocery store early this morning. Zucchini chips for today's party! And tomorrow when we have our 4-H party at the Mexican restaurant, I will take a bag of zucchini and have all the salsa I want! I have eaten it like that before with a homemade salsa I had here at the house. What a great way to get veggies in!
Got my cardio in this morning. I need to mop my kitchen, and dust. A few other things and I am ready. All the food has been prepared, except for the beer bread, and I will cook that as soon as I get done here.

Well, today I have to get up from my computer and clean. I am hosting a Tastefully Simple party tomorrow. That means food that is tempting, but I am okay. I bought all low-fat options, if they were available. One taste of anything new. Veggie "dippers" instead of tortilla chips.
I can't believe that next week is the last week of school for my kiddos. It will be nice having them home, and we are gonna tackle the basement. I can't believe my husband can trash an entire area so quickly! There are at least 3 pairs of coveralls, 5 coats, and all his calf-vaccination supplies strung out all over the place. I do not understand why he cannot put things up....
Well, off to tackle the kitchen. I've been trying to use FlyLady this week, and she had us working in the kitchen. I need to start her program in full (again) with the start of the new year.

Well, the past two nights have been late for me. I am getting pretty tired. I would like to say that I will get to bed early tonight, but unfortunately for a mom, that doesn't always work. I am proud to say that it has not kept me from exercising!
Had to go for jury selection this morning. Glad I wasn't chosen. It will be a tough trial. A man accused of sexually molesting a young girl. All jury members were women.
I fixed steak on the grill last night. Youngest DD and I carefully weighed our portions. It was nice to have some food from the "old days." I even whipped up some hot rolls (140 each without added butter). Added baked sweet potatoes, and fresh spinach salad. Just goes to show you that you can have anything in moderation! I played around with my portions so that I could have 2 hot rolls.
Youngest DD broke my heart this morning. I learned at last night's school board meeting that the kids who did well on the state tests last year get to go to the Y and swim next week as a reward. When I mentioned it to her this morning, she said she didn't want to go, and started crying. Turns out she is embarrassed of how big her thighs are. Now, mind you, she is a little chubby. About 14 pounds on a 5' 2" frame. There are so many kids who are literally obese, and she is worried about her thighs. I have been trying to make her aware of portion sizes, and she has been walking on the treadmill, but it will take a while to start to show! I was always tall and lean when I was in school, just like the oldest DD, so I can only imagine how the youngest feels. Sigh.....

Well, the scale was kind to me this morning. I am getting used to these once a week weigh ins. I don't stress so much. I know I have done what I need to do during the week, and I know I will see a loss when I step on.
Hubby did come down and worked out this morning. He did 15 minutes of cardio. He wanted to know if the stairmaster would get rid of his belly. I wanted to tell him he probably just needed to think "smaller belly" and it would happen. But, I know he needs that cardio, and I know that if he eats in moderation, the smaller belly will happen. I have told him his apple shape is worse than my pear shape, and that the apple fat is easier to lose. Don't know if he believes me or not!

My morning routine is to get up at 5, get dressed, get my water bottle, and head to the basement to walk on the treadmill. I can play my iPod as loud as I want, and not bother anyone slumbering away. Well, about 5:30, hubby comes downstairs and says he is gonna start exercising with me. We exercised together about 3 years ago, he would get on the StairMaster, me on the treadmill. And we lifted weights together. Then spring planting came, he started having major shoulder problems (from being too hard on his body when working, not because of the weight lifting), and life just got so busy. Anyway, he says he is going to work out on the StairMaster tomorrow while I walk. He wants to get rid of his belly (it's probably already going down just because he said it, lol) before this summer. I am so happy because he has been having trouble catching his breath at times, and I know he will be eating healthier (and less). He has Barrett's esophagus, and grease really is bad for him. Anyway, losing weight and eating healthier will help keep that in check.
Tomorrow is weigh-in day. I am really looking forward to it. If I have lost two pounds since last Wednesday, I get a Skinny Cow!!!! Then hopefully the next weigh-in will have me down to One-derland. Then the next goal will be 196# when I will no longer have a BMI in the obese range!
