I had my Endoscopy this morning and the rest of the day has been sleeping and I will soon be going back to bed. Totally tired.
Hope everyone had a good day.

Endo's stink. They make your throat sore, give you gas burpies and can make you feel really yucky.
Get some rest you should feel better in the morning.

more garden work

Monday, October 20, 2014

Finished pulling roots from the Russian Sage. Now have a small area of it and know to police that area a lot. Planted hosta, and several other plants that have been waiting a long time to be back in the ground. Took in more yard and garden decorations and two of the table umbrellas. Still a lot to do, but think if we get some warm dry days I can get it finished. Or at least close to it.
Had a wonderful long chat with my daughter tonight. Yesterday was her birthday and I so enjoyed the talk.
Sleep well with pleasant dreams.

You in the northern states, have so much to do in order to prepare for winter, the only things we really need to worry about here is covering the pipes, weather proofing the boat and covering the pool. Occasionally, we may have to cover the plants if we get a frost but that only happens a few nights out of our short winter from December - February.

Happy Birthday to your daughter, glad the two of you had a nice chat.

I also have been working to cleaning up the flower beds, but here it is the last half of Oct. and so many are still blooming. Did get some bulbs dug but we had such a wet year they are just big clumps of dirt, so knock off what I can and then wait a day or so and knock some more off. It's going to take a few more knocking days, before they are ready to put away in the basement.

nice visit with a friend

Sunday, October 19, 2014

I have a friend from HS that I meet about twice a year. Her husband goes to the friends of the library book sale in the spring and fall. That makes for a long day and so Jane and I get together for lunch at the Ithaca Bakery and visit.
It was nice to catch up with how things are going with them. I also managed to get in about 1 hour work out before and when hubby and I got home I moved most of our planter inside and pulled dead tomato and squash plants from the grow beds and cut back the wild purple asters. Large piles to go to the compost pile tomorrow. Also covered everything I could as we are to have a freeze tonight. I have a good crop of garlic started for the spring and the Egyptian traveling onions have produced a lot of sets for next year. So much to do in the fall.
Sleep well everyone.

I love visiting with my friends from High School. Its funny how in some respects they are exactly the same, then in others they are totally different. Many have families, some are already empty nesters and others don't seem to have grown up at all. I'm glad you had a good time with Jane.

Sounds to me like you got a great start for Spring Garden as well. Stay warm!

Old friends are the best friends. I too, have been cleaning up the garden. It's a lot more fun in the spring planting than the fall when you pull all your work out.

Prepping and cooking veggies

Saturday, October 18, 2014

Today I worked on cooking up some caseroles using the veggies from the CSA farm and our garden.
This is the veggies from the farm
This is what we were able to get from our garden after the frost

I want to make a stir steam Chinese style later this week and will use the Kale in green smoothies and kale chips.
This is what I see when I wake up in the morning

OOOOh, yum. All of those veggies look lovely. I'm sure the frost was a hassle, however it is great that you were still able to gather unspoiled bounty after it's passing. I'm sure the stir fry will turn out delicious.
