Did a lot of yard work moving limb cuttings and burning them. Enjoyed being outside.

Outside is wonderful. I miss being out in the yard, it's been very WET here lately, seems we can't go more than a day without it pouring on our heads.
Enjoy your time out there.

Is that from the storm you had awhile back. I know picking up stick is a job, it's a real work out, just think of all the cal. you burned. I did some mowing yesterday, with all the rain we have been having the yard continues to be mowed twice a week, usually this time of year the lawn is brown and doesn't need mowed.

Did not go to the parade did get work out in

Saturday, September 13, 2014

This morning was cold and rainy. It was to miserable to go and stand out and watch the parade for Old Home Days. This is a one weekend celebration that our small town does each year. There is a parade, chicken Bar-b-que, concerts,
book sale, and fireworks on Sat. night. Our grandniece was in the parade so I feel sad about missing it, but it was just to cold. One of my trainers started a 100 mile charity bike ride and it was so bad that she stopped due to hypothermia. She will do the ride when the weather is better.
I went to the fitness center and did 20 min. rowing, 25 on the VMX, 20 on the recumbent stepper and 15 on the bike.
Came home and diced and chopped fresh veggies and mixed then in a baking dish with some garlic power, black pepper and onion powder and 1 cup of extra sharp shredded cheddar. That will work out to 1/4 cup of cheese per serving.

Ugh, Yeah I think I would have stayed away from the parade as well. I know you feel bad about missing it but if a healthy conditioned person needed to stop their ride because they were getting hypothermia.. That's a cold or worse you just don't need.

Loved that you used the time to get a workout in though. I feel so energized after a workout..

I don't blame you for not going to parade, I wouldn't have gone either. We were suppose to go to a wedding reception last night, but DH and I talked ourselves out of it and just stayed home.

CSA farm day and Dare to Lose

Friday, September 12, 2014

Today I went to the CSA farm and selected cauliflower, sweet peppers, tomatoes, spinach, mix salad greens, summer squash , cukes, beets, and chard. I picked flowers out in the field and lavender, oregano, mint, and rosemary between the green houses. Then headed to town for Dare to Lose at the fitness center and after that used the pool to walk and stretch out.
I will sleep well tonight. Oh the car smelled so good when I got back in after working out. Those herbs are wonderful scents.

I Agree. I really wish I had a place like that here too!

What does CSA stand for?

Maybe I'll do a kitchen garden this year... Wonder where I could keep plants in the house where they would still get enough sun to flourish.

Getting colder

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Well I closed the windows tonight as we are to drop to around 50 ish and highs next week are only to be in the 60's. We will rely on the sun shining through the windows to warm the house or maybe I will bake something. I will not turn on the heat this early.
I had PT today and mowed the lawn on the rider. Tomorrow is CSA farm pickup and Dare to Lose training.
Everyone have a great night.

I wonder what veggies will be on the grab bag side this week. Hopefully you will be able to get that squash you wanted last week but couldn't bring home because it would not fit in the bag.

Baking sounds like a good idea, I will have to investigate what food items will not work against me this winter.

What is Dare to loose training? Do you do that at the fitness center?

We're supposed to get that cold front too, but we still have the AC on, just set a little higher so it doesn't run. It felt like fall here today. I think we will still have some sunny days and then Indian summer before we need to turn on the heat. We have a cat too, and also a dog to keep us company. Enjoy!

Finished painting the out side of the fence.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Today I finished painting the outside of the fence. Next step it to determine where I will plant shrubs and flowers that are in pots or heeled into the holding bed. Starting to look more and more like fall.

That is a very nice picture. Is that outside your house?

It sounds like you had a very productive day. I believe I read somewhere that you live in Upstate NY. Can you plant this late in the season or are there certain "winter plants" that will tolerate the cold a bit better.

We expect 90 F for Thursday and Friday... I'm hoping to see cooler weather soon but my Florida experience tells me we won't see the low 80's high 70's until late October. There has been many a year we've still been able to celebrate Christmas in shorts.
