Incredible pain for my cousin today

Saturday, January 18, 2014

I have a cousin who is one year younger then me and has experienced the worst kind of pain possible. Her husband of just a few years died this week. My cousin was single for many years and just recently married after 30 years (having been married for only a brief time in her 20s). She is so sweet and kind and spent many years helping my aunt. When I look at all that has come her way in terms of tragedy, I feel so sad for her. Her family was one of 4 kids and my aunt and uncle. In 1980, one of her older brothers died at age 23, in 1985 her other brother died at age 35, then her father died of cancer in his mid-60s in the 1990s. Her older sister died in a diabetic coma almost 10 years ago (also at a young age - 51). My beloved aunt died just a couple of years ago suddenly. I was just so glad that my cousin had found someone she loved and got married later in life. I thanked God that after all she had been through and the losses she suffered she had him. Now, she is alone again...please pray for her and surround her with love. My heart breaks for her. She loved children but never had any. I know she is strong and will survive this but it is a very sad day for her and I appreciate this community and being able to post this today.

Spark Parents - when kids move far away........ help

Sunday, January 12, 2014

Been raising up two children for many years by myself and I am so proud of them both. My son just graduated from college last month and now may be heading to the West Coast for graduate school. In my heart I am so proud of his accomplishments and his ambition and very happy for him as well. On the other hand my heart is breaking a little and I am sad and torn in my feelings. I will miss him SO much and I am afraid of not seeing him regularly. emoticon Any advice from others who have been through this would be so appreciated. He has been away to a college that was 300 miles away for the past few years but I always saw him in summer and at all holidays.

Skype video is the answer. It may not always be reliable but it's absolutely wonderful to see their faces right there in front of you. Quite often the sound on ours is so very poor that we just sit waving to each other........that's so nice in itself.

Just took the youngest back to Va. Tech. yesterday. It's called empty nest! I'm blessed to have a great DH and a part time job! I really enjoy going to the gym and trying different things-Spinning class, Yoga, Pilates...
Our oldest son is a Major in the Army. Last year he moved to Kanas. We talk on the phone, E-mail, and prayed emoticon much. At present he has given us 6 grandchildren! Life is Great.

I have 3 kids, 2 of them are out of state and they come visit me when they can.... so fear not lil one..... your love for your baby and his love for you has no boundaries across the miles as your baby ventures forth into another chapter of his life.

remember: You are loved always and NO one can replace you emoticon

I have not gone through this yet since my daughter is only fourteen. However, I was the one who moved far away from my parents when I was young. I think with today's technology the possibilities of staying connected are almost endless. From calls, to texts, to emails and skyping you can stay involved in his life. And if he doesn't come home for a holiday, maybe you can visit him! emoticon

Even the pup had to get warm!

Wednesday, January 08, 2014

Been cold all around the country ... put a little shirt on the pup and he loved sitting right next to the little heater I have next to my desk!

Stay warm everyone!

The weather forecasters were right this time!

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

Well we didn't get snow like we did last year in this photo but the temperature did drop 50 degrees in 24 hours! Yesterday it was 65 degrees at 8:00am; today it is 12! Though I do hope we get a little snow this winter......when the temperatures are ripe for snow, we don't get any precipitation. Suppose to go back up to the low 50s in a couple of days and rain.......Hope everyone has a wonderful Spark Day! emoticon

OMG ~ is that your pool? I am pea green with envy! Other than travel, the only thing I really want out of life is a swimming pool. Water is my passion! Of course, in this country, it would have to be an indoor pool. emoticon

I am with you. Ready for it to get colder. Alas, our weather is supposed to be in the 70s all week. It doesn't feel like winter! Have a good day!
