    Congratulations on being our pampered princess today. You deserve it!

One of my favorite sayings are from the movie Anne of Green Gables. "Tomorrow is fresh with no mistakes." I try to remember this myself whenever everything around me screams something is wrong with me or that the world is agaisnt me.

Depression

I have been trying to keep a positive outlook on almost everything now i feel it is all crashing in on me. emoticon

    I really had a hard time with depression for almost a year after my surgery. My doctor was wonderful. He told me that he didn't know why, but heart surgery affects the outlook and causes depression in most of his patients. He told me that after about a year out from surgery, most of his patients seem to forget about the things that depressed them and are OK. I don't know if one year was the turning point ( I am still on Welbutrin.), but I have indeed gotten better. Granted, I still have my down times, but for the most part I am feeling OK these days. Perhaps I'm in denial, but that's OK as well. I try to focus on the fact that I am "fixed."

My main problem now is that I am so OK about my physical condition that I have let myself get off the staight and narrow in my diet.

I've got to get back on track!

You will get better even though there may be some tough times ahead - don't get too down about it. Your feelings will change. emoticon

    Be strong and your feelings will pass. Just give it time. Look for short term goals and not the "whole picture" which can add stress and more downward feelings. Take a few minutes each day to treat yourself to something nice. For instance I can take a few extra minutes in the shower and scrub w/ a loofha, give myself a pedicure, listen to music, make a cup of tea or read a page or two in a magazine. My best to you and a brighter future!

    When I get depressed, I exercise for 2-3 hours. I don't kill myself, but I do something like walk a long way, bike likewise, work in the yard HARD (being sure to keep hydrated) or lift weights. I find when I do this, I feel much better. emoticon

    When I get depressed, and trying to stay positive doesn't work, I take a break. I try to distract myself with something like going for a walk (it is rather beautiful outside), or reading a book, watching a favorite show, or making jewelry (as I'm a metalsmith). Another thing that helps is trying to help someone else, or make someone else smile. I hope your night gets better!

    How does it bother you? do you sleep too much or not enough or a combination? I have sleep apnea and when I don't use my machine, I can get rather tired during the days.
