P90X Week 1, Day 1

Monday, January 11, 2010

I just did my first core synergistics workout. I completed the entire workout with modifications minus the bonus round. Did you hear the WOOHOO? There is one move called the dreya roll that was put in by Dreya Webber an aerial star. You stand feet together and lower yourself back onto the floow lying down and then roll forward to a standing position. It is unbelieveable and I will probably never be able to do that.
I kept a record of the modifications I made so I can track my progress. I may never be able to do the Dreya roll but I will try. I'm not ashamed to say that I did the Dreya roll using my bed. Don't laugh. I stood on the floor and rolled back on the bed and used my abs to lift me to my feet. Hey, it worked for me and it was better than sitting there saying "I'll never do that". There were many moves that I did not have to modify so that made me feel empowered to continue. I'm going to keep positive. Tonight I teach a Spinning class and right now I feel GREAT! I thought I'd be exhausted but quite the contrary. And to think that 5 years ago I weighed 243 lb. and could only do 3 minutes on the ellipictical. Now, at almost 60 I'm teaching Spinning and embarking on an even greater challenge. I'm not going to let some silly little "dreya roll" scare me.

Good for you!!! I am also working the P90X, although I discontinued over the Holidays, because I was out of town. Just started back up and know what you felt when you mentioned it empowered you. It makes you feel so good when you are done. I am 69 and sometimes wonder what I am doing with a program like that. I really think it was meant for much younger people. I am thrilled that I can do half of the push-ups, now, the traditional way; for the other half I do the modified version. I have not been able to do standard push-ups in a long, long time. Keep up the good work. You are doing great.

Monday is the day.............

Saturday, January 09, 2010

I officially start the P90X program. When they say that P90X is extreme, they are NOT kidding. I have only attempted to do and mostly watched the 2 core workouts and OMG. This is one bad a$$ program. I will do as the program suggests which is to "do your best and forget the rest". I WILL NOT be defeated before I even start by telling myself that I can't do this or that. I will keep a record of what I do and watch my progress. And maybe at the end of the 90 days I will stil not be doing every exercise but I know one thing for sure and that is if I stick with it I will be in far better shape than when I begin. So, I'm getting psyched to "Bring It" on Monday.

i've completed 1 week so far and I love it. one of my fav things about it is there are many variations to the moves, half the time he says one persons doing this anothers doing this, you could do this, i don't care as long as your moving =P it keeps me motivated becuase i may not be able to do it like a star, but if i start at MY pace, i bet, by pushign forward the best that I can, i will be able to do it (or close to) thoes toned triped and riped people in the videos lol
good luck

Wednesday, January 06, 2010

So far I've........
watched the "Bring It' dvd
taken the Fit test
taken my measurements
taken before or "goodbye" photos
worked on eating according to the foodplan and am getting better
done as much as I could of the Abs X routine
started tracking my exercise on a calendar

Do Your best and forget the rest really applies to "in my opinion" all areas of life. Good Luck to you!! I have yet to take the plunge for P90X. One day though, hubby says "it's just a matter of time". emoticon emoticon

You have done an awesome job getting ready for P90X! I like how you called the before pictures "goodbye" pictures. I will have to use that. Very true.

While doing P90X remember Tony's words, "Do your Best and forget the Rest!" You will do a great job.

My plan for starting P90X

Friday, January 01, 2010

I just got my P90X in the mail yesterday and my plan was to start Monday. I thought I'd be able to take my measurements, take before photos, do the fitness test, watch the DVD and read the guides. Well, that's not going to happen and I want to be properly prepared.

So my plan for starting is to start the nutrition plan on Sunday and all next week continue the workouts I usually do. I will do all the steps in the prep work, watching the Bring It video, read the guides, take my measurements and before photos, and take the Fit test. I may also watch portions of some of the DVD's to get an idea what's in store for me. I will also start to blog daily on P90X on my Sparkpage.

I knew this was going to be tough but wow, it's more than I even imagined. The chin up bar is the thing that scares me the most. But I'm not going to let some silly chin up bar keep me from doing P90X. I decided to do those workouts at the gym and use the assisted chn up machine until I can do them on my own.

I'm looking at the title of my last blog which was P90X please hurry and arrive. Can I take that back. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Don't scare yourself out of it! I use the bands too. I knew pullups were not going to happen my first round.

You just do what you can. Do your best, forget the rest will start to sink in. You will improve each week.

I'm always here if you need support!

As Tony says, "Get your head right." Wait a week if you need to. :-)

You will do great! Don't be nervous about the chin up bar, I do the modified move with the bands. I think it is a great idea to watch the video before. I did this and it helped me to make sure I had everything I needed for each workout. Do your best and forget the rest!

P90X please hurry.

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

I am very psyched about starting the P90X program. I hear it is a tough routine and I hope I am ready to start it. It should arrive this week or early next week. I am continuing my regular exercise and eating clean and watching my portions. That should give me a good base to start the program. .

I've seen the ads on TV, and it looks TOUGH. Lots of jumping! Keep up the good work you are already doing, and good luck with the program.
And thanks for sending me some Florida sunshine! Temps were in the single digits yesterday, with wind gusts up to 40 mph - they had wind-chill warnings issued telling people to stay in or if they go out to cover any exposed skin. It's still in the single digits this morning, but the wind speed it down to about 10 mph. Still brutally cold, but not so dangerous as yesterday.

I AM LOVING P90X! It really is a mental challenge as much as a physical. I'm learning so much about myself.

My daughter loves the P90x. Her favorite sessions are the yoga and plyometrics which once you get over how goofy it looks you'll realize that its kicking you in the hiney. Just take it slowly and good luck. I was so excited the first day that I could make it just past the warm up.
