Excited for a new family member

Saturday, February 01, 2014

Hi Sparkfriends! Haven't spent much time on SparkPeople lately because I've been busy getting our family ready for our newest addition. We are adopting a 5 year old girl. This weekend was her second time spending the night at our home. We will do this a few more weekends until she is comfortable with us and her new surroundings. It is a very exciting time. We took her to the zoo today. It was her first time there and she really enjoyed herself. I can't wait to take her in the summer when it is warm out.

Pictured below is my husband, soon to be adopted daughter and biological daughter (10 yrs old)

2014 Here I Come

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

So I let emotional eating get the best of me in 2013. Well that ship has sailed. Looking forward to healthy eating and getting a lot more active in 2014. I've signed up for a 5K in April to keep myself motivated.

Love to all my SparkFriends. Let's make it a great year!!

Exercise Time

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

I put some weight back on after being stressed out by my job last year. It got so stressful that I just had to quit. This year I will be substitute teaching which I haven't done in years. It is nice to have some free time. Luckily this also means that I have exercise time. I'm really excited about this. Looking forward to knocking those numbers back down on the scale. Woo-Hoo!

Stress can be bad... very bad. I am glad that you are back to a work environment that will give you more flexibly and less stress. You got this Max! Just take one day at a time.

My New Toy

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

My Mother's Day Gift this year was a FitBit from my husband. My daughter made me a clay pot she made in art class and a homemade card. Both presents were awesome! Still learning the ins and outs with the fitbit. It is fun to see how many steps I have taken in a day. My husband was surprised that I was getting over 10,000 steps at work. Not sure why he was surprised - I work with preschoolers all day. I've got to help these kids, chase them around, encourage them, etc. Too funny. So for now I'll keep tinkering with my new toy.

I can't wait for June 4th - last day of school and summer vacation begins. Winter was way too long - looking forward to some fun in the sun and also some free time so I can Spark.
Take care SparkFriends!

I love tracking stuff and seeing progress. Seems like the FitBit is a good tool for that. Hope you enjoy and have fun with it!

Fitbits are emoticon ! I check mine near the end of the day to see if I'm near any milestones and then go for them!

The weather makes all the difference. Doesn't it?! Enjoy your new toy by setting new goals and then demolishing them. You are so capable and you will get there! emoticon

Hello NOvember

Friday, November 02, 2012

I'm learning to start to say no to people/things. I have a tendancy to go out of my way to help others even when I am stretched out too thin. It is hard to do but I am liking the less stress outcome. So here is hoping I stick with it.

We had our 14th annual Halloween party last weekend. Our last party I might add. It is another thing that I am saying no to -- it takes me weeks to setup and then a week to clean up after so I'm having to decide to cut that out of my life.

Hoping my new ability to say no will lead to more time for me to prepare healthy meals and exercise. Looking forward to the Thanksgiving 5K that I am going to be doing with my family this November.

Wonderful that you have been able to say no, saying so does give you more time to do things for you and your family. Love the pictures from the Halloween party. Hope you and your family have a fun time running the 5K.
