Yesterday’s Hike/Foster Falls

I have a group of five women friends who among other things love being together and going out in the woods hiking. Yesterday we went to Foster Falls about twenty minutes away for a three mile/two and a quarter hour hike and climb. It was 82 degrees and about 80% humidity. We were drenched in sweat and the spray from the falls before we were done. The falls have a 60 foot drop.

Blew It

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Knowing that I am starting the ETL 6 week program all over again tomorrow played a mind game with me today as I allowed myself to eat off plan for both breakfast and lunch today. Bad idea, I know. I woke so hungry this morning that I had an egg and a piece of toast. My church always has lunch after the service and I stayed for that. They do not bring many items (if any at all) that are on the ETL program. It is more the meat and potatoes and desserts meal. But my evening meal is back on track.

Beginning tomorrow morning I will follow a strict ETL plan and I will get some kind of exercise in each day even if it is only 10 minutes on the treadmill.

It happens to all of us at some time. You are back on track and that is what matters. Good luck.

Don't be too hard on yourself, bad eating happens. You can do great over the next few weeks! One day at a time!

You are going to be just fine. You will find that your body will work harder to process what you are eating and then it will balance out. Take care and enjoy your journey emoticon

Solid Smoothie

Saturday, June 18, 2011

I have seen people post their recipes for green smoothies and they always include a lot of water. When I make my smoothies, I add very little water if any at all. I have relied on the water content in the vegetables and fruits to provide most of the liquid needed to grind up the dryer items such as kale. I have never needed to add more than 2 to 4 ounces of water to be able to drink my smoothie. Today, my smoothie was eaten with a spoon. ;-0)

I do that too and it works for me. Although, if you eat with a spoon wouldn't that be a pudding!

Just curious what definition did the naturopath use to differentiate between fruit and vegetable?

I was told by my naturopath to first of all, don`t mix fruit with veggies when juicing and also to add as much water as juice because it is too concentrated. What I do is make a big batch, add water, then drink some and freeze the rest in ice cube trays for later use.

My Beautiful Friend

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

I have a dear friend and neighbor who is 80 years old and so active and lively. She still cares for and sees to her 94 year old aunt who lives in a town two hours away. and she drives there at least once a week to check on her aunt. I went with my friend to a doctor’s appointment in Nashville (90 miles away) today and after her appointment, we went shopping and had a lovely lunch before returning home. While shopping, we both bought new bathing suits (on sale) for our water aerobic class. She walks, has a beautiful garden, and plays golf a couple of times a week. I hope I am half as active and fun when I am her age.

Loving Life in the Pool

Friday, June 03, 2011

I went to water exercise this morning at our community pool and I felt so good after the exercise that I have been more active than usual all day and that is a good thing. I need to keep this up. The neighbor and friend who teaches (or leads) this gentle exercise class teaches it twice a week in the pool during the Summer months and at one of our club houses during the Winter. I need to fill in other exercises for the other days of the week.

I will pull out the kayak and do a clean up so that I can do that. After being stored upside down over the Winter, cleaning includes making sure the "varmints" (snakes, chiggers, spiders, etc.) are removed.

The only think I miss about my first marriage was our pool. Swimming is great.
