Another Great Weekend

Sunday, April 29, 2012

Friday night, I had a dinner date with two of my boys. The princess went for dinner with her dad. They were supposed to go to a Father/Daughter dinner dance at the country club, but it was postponed. DH had to take her out. So, I went out with the boys. We ended up going to a southern restaurant. I had bar-b-que chicken (forgot to tell them to go easy on the sauce), salad, and collard greens. I did have a few popcorn shrimp. It was so nice to be with the boys. We had a good time.

Saturday, I went to the gym and took a spin class. Ran home to get ready for my breakfast with SWEETNSKINNY. She was coming around 9:30. Well, you would think on a Saturday morning, there wouldn't be any traffic. Well, when a semi truck overturns on the freeway and it closes down, there's traffic. I think she didn't get to my house til 10:15ish. We went to Panera and had a nice, long talk. We decided that we need to help each other on this journey. Since we don't live close and can't work out together (we would be the best workout partners if we did live near each other), we would "workout" together long distance. Since we spoke, I have been so good with logging my food and keeping track. We're going to do this TOGETHER!! And, I might just get her to meet me in San Diego and run the Camp Pendleton Mud Run. Right Mackenzie???
After breakfast, I took DD to our family fun day in school. We got there around 12:45 and stayed until the end and helped clean up. I didn't get to eat lunch, not much to choose from. I did have 2 pieces of crust (which I love) and iced coffee. When I got home, I had a little snack to tide me over. For dinner, I had Asian cod. It was good. And, of course, I had my WW fudge bar.

This morning, I went on a 2 hour hike with my buddies. The first part is all up hill. My calves were on fire. But, after it's all over, you feel so good. Came home and had my oatmeal with blueberries. My DD had a tennis match, so I ran over to the club to watch. She got paired up with a girl who is #2 on the other team. She did win one set, but lost in the end. Good experience for her. I came home (she, DH and my son went to play 9 holes of golf) and had lunch, cleaned up my email and just vegged out. For dinner, I had a chicken asada burrito (homemade). It was very good. Will probably have WW fudge bar.

Do have to tell you that while I was typing this, my son ran to the frozen yogurt store (my DH always asks him to go). He asked me if I wanted anything and I said, "No thanks." That is a big step for me. I have to be good for now. Once I hit my goal, I can start having that again. But until then, I need to be good.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Looking forward to a good week.

Until next time-
~Chana~

Alright, so here it is. My eating has been horrible. I just can't seem to get it together. Last week, I saw a picture of myself from when my DD was in kindergarten. She's in 3rd grade now. I looked so amazing. It's when I was training to climb Mt. Whitney. I was working out so hard and eating spot on. I want her back. I just can't find her right now. I'm fat and uncomfortable. You would think that would do it. But no, I just keep going back to the closet, looking for something to eat.

So, my question is this: what is everyone's eating plans look like? I think maybe I need something new. Tired of Weight watchers (just don't have the patience to count points), I've done every diet plan out there (except for Lindora or Jenny Craig). Also, I think I need to go back to training with a personal trainer at least once a week (two would be ideal, but, gotta check with DH first). I need something.

What do you all got for me???

Just keep at it. Try to find new healthy things to eat. I find that more veggies works for me. Maybe a different type of exercise? emoticon

Hang in there, you are going to be a okay soon. A personal trainer would be a great way to look at your exercise plan from another view.

One thing you can do is keep your picture on the fridge to remind you of how you want to look again. I did that with my trail race photo....I kept "her" up on my spark page as a reminder that I may not look like the girl in the picture now, but I am striving to be her again.

As for food, I match my calories to my exercise. Right now I am scheduled to burn 2,000 calories this week. I make sure to reach that goal or for the upcoming week, I adjust my calories burned lower so my calorie range will reflect my activity. This has been working for me so far. During my half training, I found that I had to keep upping my calories burned goal as my mileage increased. I am no longer running 12 milers so my calories burned has dropped and the change was automatically reflected on my food tracker.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

No, I didn't disappear, PROMISE!!

Ok, this is the second try. I typed so much and bam, hit a button and everything just went kapoot. Let's see. Gonna go back to Thursday:

Had breakfast with my besties (we meet every Thursday morning for oatbran blueberry pancakes). Yummy! I then went to my sister to help her move from her apartment to a house. My nephew are so excited. A long day with no lunch. Got back to school to pick up my DD and we went for frozen yogurt with our friends. She ended up going to her friends house. Picked up my son, went home for a little bit and then, went to the gym for a spin class. I knew I wasn't going to be able to workout tomorrow, so I wanted to make sure I got a good workout in. Love the teacher and she kicked my a$$. Got home, ate dinner (love the crockpot), showered and then, packed for my weekend getaway with my DH.

Friday morning, we were on the road by 6:50am. My DD took the first shift (5 hour drive to Montery). However, he only drove 2 hours and I got 3. So not fair. Not only that, but he had a 2 hour call which I couldn't listen to any music during that time. Boring!! We stopped off at a bike race that had the most amazing Expo ever. It was huge. I didn't have to worry about not working out b/c we did so much walking. Probably did around 4 miles and we were there for around 2-3 hours. Got myself a tank top b/c it was so hot and I was overdressed. We got to the hotel and of course, room wasn't ready. Had some coffee and then, got the call. Unpacked and just relaxed until dinner time. Met friends of ours that were at the conference, too. We ended up eating at the hotel in a really good restaurant. I don't think I over did it.

Saturday morning, woke up around 7:00. By 8:15, I was out the door with my headphones on. It was so gorgeous out. I just kept walking and walking and walking along the water. I ended up doing 7 miles. It felt so good. I ran for a mile of those 7. Got back, went to the coffee shop and got a banana and a skinny vanilla latte. I think I deserved it!! Had a mini luna bar which I got from the Expo. DH came back around 12:00 and we ended up going to Carmel with our friends for lunch. We had the most amazing lunch. Might have had a little too much, but, I figured the 7 miles i put in made up for it. We walked around a bit, picked up some little gifts for the kiddos and then, went back to the hotel. Took a shower and got ready for pre-dinner drinks at 5:30. I had water!! Dinner was buffet style. Hate those. Basically, had salad and some vegetables. Everything else was YUCK! Some of us decided to leave and went to the bar of the restaurant. We had a great time. Ate a little bit (too much!) along with some drinks.

Sunday, we were up and in the car by 7:00. DH took the first shift (2 hours) and I got the second one (3 hours). Do you see something wrong here?? We got back in time to take my DD to her tennis match. Then, I took my son to the golf store to buy him his birthday present. Yup, it was his birthday. He turned 20! I can't believe I have 2 grown men for sons now. Scary!! We had a very nice birthday dinner (which my DH cooked).

Monday, it was back to regular routine. Making lunches, cleaning up, carpool. Did my own spin class at home. Didn't do much more then that all day. Now, I have to fold some laundry and then, watch some t.v. with the family.

So, that was why I was MIA!! Didn't have my computer in Monterey and wasn't going to try it on my IPAD. I'm back now, so it's all good.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I can't wait until Saturday when I get to have breakfast with my bestie, SWEETNSKINNY!! Count down: 5 days!!

Until tomorrow-
Chana

A Day at the Farm

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Today, my daughter's grade went on a field trip to the farm. It ended up being lots of fun. Of course, we started off the day with a stop at Starbucks and then, met the buses at the farm. The kids ate their snacks and then, we got to go: looked at the animals, had a talk about vegetables and fruits, went on a tractor ride, picked lots of vegies, and saw an animal show. The kids had a really good time. It was a long day, but nice. After we got back, we waited around a bit and then, went to pick up my son from school. He gets in the car and says, "So, are you excited that you won't have to pick up at high school next year?" That's how he told me that he passed his exit exam test he took last month. He so ready to get out of high school and start college. My DH hopes we're not making a mistake. I don't think we are.

I was way too tired to workout this evening (and, I had to run to the store to get stuff to make dinner tonight and tomorrow). I'll workout extra harder tomorrow. After dinner, we went to the farmer's market (didn't have enough) and got some fresh fruit. Now, I'm home and after cleaning all the vegetables (man, it was so dirty!!), I am ready to just relax. I think I'm going to have my WW chocolate bar and call it a night.

Hope everyone had a great "hump" day.

Until tomorrow-
Chana

Um, yeah.....

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Ok, so it's been over 3 months since I last blogged. I am so embarrassed. I wish I could tell you all that things are just hunky dory, but, I would be lying. Instead of my weight going down, it is way up there. Running has been horrible for me. I just am feeling blah.

I'll try to sum it all up. I think I've put on around 15-20 lbs. I'm going to put it out here and just tell you what I weight: 136 lbs. Now, some might think, that's not bad. However, when you're only 5 feet tall, that's a lot. I'm a small person, so, it's all there. I'm trying to get my head back into this and I'm hoping by being back and blogging, it'll work. I also need to up my workouts. I'm still working out, but not like I was. I need to get into a better routine. I saw a picture of myself that was taken around 3 years ago and wow, I got mad at myself. I looked awesome, thin, fit in that picture and now, well, let's just say I'm none of those right now. So, enough with this pity party!!

Last week, I got the best phone call ever from my all time buddy, SWEETNSKINNY. She made my day. We spoke for such a long time, it was great. And, I'm going to see her a week from Saturday. I am so excited. We promised each other that we would try to lose 5 lbs by then. I am working hard. I can't wait to see her.

I went to today for an ultrasound on my stomach. Ever since my half marathon in December, I've been getting pain on the side when I do cardio: spin, boxing, running. Hopefully, we'll figure it all out and I can get back to a normal routine. It's a pain (no pun intended!) when you're trying to workout hard and you have this stitch, cramp on your side. I do miss running, but, just can't seem to get into it. Maybe once my side is fixed, I'll get back. I will keep you posted.

Getting ready to go watch Biggest Loser and Dancing with the Stars. I'm so hoping to be back tomorrow. If not, SWEETNSKINNY will be stalking my page. I love her so much!!!

Until tomorrow-
Chana

I'm in the same mode. The only difference is that you're about 15 pounds overweight. 25 tops. I'm 90-100 pounds overweight. So, just remember, it could always be worse. And really, try not to "diet." 30 years of dieting is what got me to where I am. Like they always say on SP, it's about a healthy lifestyle. Now, if I could just live one myself. . . .
