Ok, now don't start on me yet. I tried so many times yesterday to type a blog and every time I was almost finished, the blog disappeared. I have no idea what key I'm hitting, but I'm hitting it! So, I'm going to do a very brief recap (no pics, not taking any chances!):
Woke up at 4:44 after only 4 hours of sleep. Such bad heartburn. Emptied the dishwasher & filled up my water while my oatmeal was cooking. Hopped in my car to meet Pagona at a park so we could drive together. Got to L.A. Live in great time. Parked the car, got all our stuff and walked on over. Checked in our bags, used the porta-potty and got ourselves syched. We found corral #11 and waited w/ everyone else.
The star spangled banner was sung and then, they started. We got to cross the starting line around 7:45. At that time, I set my IMapMyRun app so I could see how accurate it all was. I got to run past USC, around the coliseum, past the Science Musuem and then, back again. I was thinking, "This isn't too bad," until I saw the sign that said 10K. What? I have 7 more miles to go. No way! But, I just pushed on. Up a bit of a hill (thank goodness for running up that street all the time. Incline training helps!), through a tunnel and then, down a bit. Yeah! Uh oh, I'll have to run up on the way back. Got to run some flat for awhile until I saw the 6th Street bridge. Up that street went. Refused to walk, so just slowed down and pursued! There was a water station, so I decided to walk from the beginning til the end while I drank a bit. Then, took up my running. Turned around and back down we went. I tried finding Pagona (oh, forgot to mention that she gave me permission to take off. Her pace was way too slow for me. She was running on an injury!), but I couldn't find her. I decided to take a shot block to get some energy. Then I see it. Mile 10. Alright, 3 to go. I can do this. That was the longest mile until mile 11. Then, 12, then I saw that finish line. I tried to sprint a bit, but I didn't have it in me. I just went a little faster, but not much. Crossed that finish line w/ my arms in the air. Didn't even look at the clock b/c I knew it was off (I started later then that!). I took out my phone and looked at my app: 2:18:24. Really? I was going for at least 2:30. I surprised myself. Got me some water and banana and then, waited for Pagona. She came in 40 mins. after me. We got our pictures taken together, shared a bagel and then, got our bags. We were tired, but feeling good.
So, here are my official stats:
Overall place: 3598 (no idea how many people ran)
There were tons of people, probably 1,000's. I'm proud of myself and so ready for Vegas in December. I"m hoping my time will be just as good. The only good thing going for me is that I don't think there are any hills. So, that might just help!!
This is what happens when you take the pic by yourself: BACKWARDS!
The other pics won't upload. One is better then none!
P.S. It was my baby's birthday and she let me run the marathon! She didn't want me to, but, she let me any way. She had a good day: dad made her breakfast, took her to American Girl, had a homemade dinner: tri-tip, lasagna, salad and home made cake! A good day!
So, until next time-

OK, no I didn't flake yesterday and not blog. It was a crazy, busy day and didn't have time. However, it was a good day! Got to do some shopping with my sister which is always nice. We went to Target, of course. Then, I was starving (only had a luna bar for breakfast), so we went to Zenkou Chicken (can't remember how to spell it). I had a schwarma plate with some vegies, hummus, tehina and a pita. It was very good. Except, gave me heartburn. I think I have to go to the doctor to get this problem checked out. Did my carpool and then, had to get my DD back to school for our first ever Trunk or Treat. Before I left, I had 0% fage greek yogurt w/ cherry pomegranate. Oh so YUMMY!! Here's my little princess:
She's a ladybug!!
We had a great time at the Trunk or Treat. Everyone did a great job. Lots of candy though, especially when you go around 3 times to all the cars. I only had 2 mini pieces & my handful of almonds. So proud of myself! Got home about 7:45 and ate dinner: homemade red bean and rice w/ a large salad. For dessert, I had a trader joe's chocolate & oat bar. Like the peanut butter one better.
Today was another very busy day. DD had a soccer game this morning. Had to get her there at 9:30. Dropped her off and came home to get my DH. On our way to the field, we stopped off at Starbuck's and I had my venti non-fat decaf misto w/ s.f. vanilla. Oh, forgot about breakfast: I made myself pancakes: 1/2 c of oatmeal, 3/4 c egg whites, splenda, cinnamon and 1/2 banana. Very good and filling.
After the game, we headed on over to USC. It was parent's weekend, so we went to my son's fraternity bar-b-que. By this time, I was so hungry. However, the line was so long for food, so we waited. My DD asked her big bro if they could play Beer Pong! I know, she's only 8, but, her big bro got another team together and they played. And, they won. Here are the two siblings:
Elie going for the cup. Rachel looking on!
After the game, had to feed my little one. The line was short. However, the only thing that I could eat was salad and fruit. The cheese burgers weren't an option. I did take a bite, though. They were good. Dessert? Nope. Cupcakes and different pies. Had a bite of my DH's cupcake which was good. It was enough. Ate my luna bar in the car on the way home. Then, had some 0% fage yogurt w/ s.f. jelly.
I texted my buddy, Pagona, to see what she was up to and she told me she was running the Rock N Roll 1/2 marathon tomorrow. Well, I wanted to run with her. So, I had an hour to go back downtown to register. (I was just there!). My DH didn't think I would make it, but, I did with a minute to spare. So, that is why I am so EXCITED! I am running my first 1/2 marathon tomorrow with my buddy. A lot of my firsts we have done together: climbed Mt. Baldy, climbed Mt. Whitney, and now, this.
For dinner, I had tai food: chicken chow mein, red chicken curry and some rice. For dessert, I had a WW latte bar. Now, I have to fold my laundry and finish getting ready for tomorrow. Pagona will be at my house at 5:30. Race starts at 7:30. Can't wait to tell you how it went. Hopefully, I'll have some good pictures, along with a good time!

So, last night at bingo wasn't too bad (oh, and I made $3.00!). Since it was potluck, I had no idea what everyone was bringing. There was tri-tip and chicken (which was dry & only dark pieces), Chinese chicken salad, regular salad, cole slaw, bread, rice and beans. So, I had: 2 slices of tri-tip, some of the Chinese chicken salad, regular salad, about 1/4 c of rice and 4 tortilla chips. Now, on the table there was candy galore, licorice, chips and dip. So, I had 4 peanut m&m's and 2 chips (reduced fat) with dip (low fat sour cream onion). For dessert, I had a bite of cookie and two bites of lemon bar. Oh, and I brought with me my non-fat, decaf misto w/ sugar free vanilla. I think I did pretty awesome (considering in the best, I would have pigged out galore!!) I knew I had to blog about what I ate and I just couldn't do it!! Thank you everyone.
Today was pretty good. I ran 5 miles in 51 minutes. Slow for me, however, I was running into the wind almost the whole time. Not fun, not easy!! I came home, showered and had to run out for my hair appointment. I brought with me some almonds and a luna bar. On the way, I stopped off at Pete's coffee and got myself a decaf, non-fat cafe au lait w/ sugar free vanilla. I was at my appointment so long that I never had time to eat lunch before I had to get my DD. I ended up getting a special K protein meal bar. After picking up my kids, ran home and had the 0% fage Greek yogurt w/ blueberries. Oh, YUMMY! And, some baby carrots. Took DD to tennis clinic and then, for her to get her Halloween costume: a lady bug. I will for sure take pics and post! She's so cute. Came home and since, DH is out of town, I decided I wasn't cooking. Ordered Baja Fresh for my kiddies. I had homemade red beans and rice (so good. it's a weight watchers recipe that I tweaked a bit.) and a big salad. For dessert, I had Trader Joe's peanut butter & oat bar. Thanks SWEETNSKINNY! Tomorrow, I'll have to try the brownie one. Now, I think I'll go have something to drink and then, get ready for bed. It's 9:30 and I'm so ready.
So, day 2 went well and I'm ready to do this.

That's right, that's what I need. I've been having a very hard time with my eating lately and SWEETNSKINY suggested that I start blogging my food. I think it's a great idea! So, here I am, blogging again. I was embarrassed because it's been so long, but, I know my spark friends would love me any way.
Before my run this morning, I had a rice cake with a tsp of apple spread. I can't eat anything major before I run. Too much on the stomach. After my 7.3 mile run (took me 71 minutes!), I had a weight watcher smoothie with a cup of milk, banana & tbl of better then peanut. Oh so yummy!! As I was running an errand, I realized that I never put dinner in the crockpot. There went my errands. Ran home and put it together. Then, it was time to go to my DD class to help out. On my way, ran into Subway: 6 in turkey, provolone, lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, mustard on whole wheat. Got 2 cookies for DD and her friend. Didn't want the baked chips! It was so fun working in my DD's classroom. Ran an errand before getting my son. Came home and another errand to run! I feel like I"m never home.
I had some almonds and drinking my water. Tonight, I have my once a month bingo. A little nervous because the food is always not too healthy. I'm going to bring some healthy snacks for myself just in case. OH, and on the way, I'm popping into Starbuck's and getting my non-fat, decaf misto with sugar free vanilla. YUMMY! Love that drink.
Wish me luck tonight (on winning and eating!) I will all let you know how it all goes. Now, to go clean my DD room before I leave.

Saturday morning, I woke up and got ready to do my 4 mile run. As I walked outside, my DH came back from his bike ride, so he decided to ride with me while I ran. Well, that didn't go very well for him. He was bored and couldn't imagine doing this pace for 4 miles. He rode with me for 2 blocks and then turned around. I got back home and was amazed at my time: 40:14 for 4.06 miles. I'm pretty impressed with myself. Got home, showered and got ready to take my DD to Opening Ceremonies for soccer. Here are some pics of the day:
Running through the balloons with their banner
Defending the goal. That's what happens when you're a lefty!!
High fiving the other team. Notice my DD's jersey #: 3. Same as her brother's when he played baseball in high school. She was excited to get it!!
Her team won, 2-1. Unfortunately, she had to play her first game against of her very good friends. That's life!! It was a very long day. After the game, went home and got ready to watch the USC football game. Thank goodness they pulled it off and won their second. DH wanted to check out a new store that opened up, Sprouts Farmers Market. We spent way too much money!!
Sunday, woke up and got ready for a bike ride. Met my friend at her house at 8:00am and off we went to meet up with another friend. 3 hours and 10 minutes later (39 miles), I got a flat. Since we were so close to home, I decided to call DH to come and get me. Don't know how to change a tire yet & my friend was being lazy!! Got home, showered, ate some lunch and then ran to do some errands. Took DD and her friend swimming and then, she had a tennis lesson. Another very long day. All in all, it was a great weekend.
Monday morning, after I took the kids to school, I had to get my run in. So, off I went. I felt like I was going so slow. Wanted to stop so many times, but, just couldn't, especially when I was running through the college campus. Had to show up those college kids. Got back to the house and totally amazed myself: ran 4.05 miles in 39:22. That is amazing for me. I am so stoked. Wednesday, I have to up my mileage, so we'll see how that goes. I'll keep you posted.
Now, I have to give my DD dinner and then we are off to soccer practice. 1 1/2 - 2 hours of just sitting there is no fun for me. I'm praying that my friend comes, too. If not, I'll bring some girl scout/PTA stuff to do. Fun, fun!!
Eating so far has been good. Official weigh in for myself is tomorrow morning. I'm hoping to at least stay the same.
